100% Dark Star (Oshi No Ko Alternative) / Chapter 6: -- School Day --

Chương 6: -- School Day --

Walking towards an atrociously long hallway, Aqua looks at the many new faces he'll have to see every day in this school.

He wasn't annoyed by that, in fact, he didn't care at all, it's just that getting used to something new is kind of a challenge, even for Aqua.

Some people waved at him, others just stared admiring his looks, even in a school full of celebrities and entertainers, Aqua's looks stand out easily.

He was heading towards the management departments of the school, to enroll in the General Education Program, deciding that he has no interest in anything to do with Arts and Entertainment.

Before he could go further, he met his sister Ruby, who was standing with a person familiar to him.

A short, red-haired girl with a fancy sort of hat on her head, noting all these details, Aqua came to the definite conclusion:

The person with Ruby is, or was, his old "Acquaintance", if you can call it that, Kana Arima.

Aqua didn't know why Ruby would stand with Kana, he knew these two never got along, let alone stand and talk to each other.

Seeing her brother coming their way, Ruby stepped to the left and loudly waved hello to him, much to Aqua's annoyance.

-"Onii-Chaaaaannnn!!!"

Aqua put his hands over his ears, to him, this was a deafening screech.

-"I'm right in front of you.. Why are you screaming.."

-"Can't your sister show her excitement?"

-"Yeah whatever.."

He lowered his hands and put them back in his shoulder, and kept looking at his sister, however, through the corner of his eyes, he felt he was getting "some" stares from Kana, but he chose to ignore her, wanting her to start the conversation herself.

He remembered how rude and haughty she was back in the acting days, and he still maintained that image of her.

Ruby, staring in confusion at the two, tried to break the silence, but before she could, Kana expressed her outrage with Aqua.

-"You jerk! You know I'm here! At least give me some chance to talk! Jeez, what a guy you are!"

Aqua maintained his stare forward at Ruby, choosing to stay silent, which prompted Kana to begin seeing what he was trying to do.

That was, after all, her strong point, understanding her surroundings to the absolute extreme.

Instantly building a mini-apology aimed at Aqua, Kana spoke with honesty.

She did want to apologize, but she didn't expect Aqua to be so stuck in the past about it.

"Sigh.. Listen, I know we didn't have the greatest impression of each other, but the child actor Kana Arima you once knew is gone, how about we turn a new page? Your sister decided to do so, why shouldn't you?"

Aqua, hearing what he wanted to hear from Kana, finally faced her.

He saw her genuinely apologetic look, even if she didn't directly say the word "Sorry", Aqua got the gist of it.

-"Alright."

One word, that was Aqua's response, that set Kana off, she was infuriated by his extremely simple response to her quite sizeable attempt at starting conversation between the two.

-"Hey! That's it?! Aright?! You sound like you have Aphasia! Actually, you don't sound like it, you most definitely do! You didn't understand anything I said, didn't you? Tch, so much for trying to start a conversation!

Hmph! Turns out your sister is actually better than you! At least she can talk back and sound friendly! What a man you grew up to be, you probably are so full of yoursel-"

Aqua got so tired of hearing her rant that he had already walked off, which left Ruby holding back her laugh the entire time.

Kana, who finished her enraged monologue a minute later, took a look around, only to find a Ruby who was dying laughing and no Aqua to be seen.

Her face was painted red from embarrassment, and she hid that fact by digging her face into her hat.

-"Pfffahahahaha! You sounded so..

Aaahahaha! I can't.. I can't breathe.. Help.. I'm cho..

Choking..

Senpai.. I feel so bad..."

Ruby slowly recollected herself and stood up, placing her hand on Kana's back, trying to comfort her, still snickering.

Kana got some stares here and there, but nothing too major, and the day went on.

Kana and Ruby walked along, the former was showing the latter around, as her senior, she had to do her work.

Ruby enrolled in the Performing Arts Program, Strawberry Productions, tho no longer a company with any idol groups, was still renowned, B-Komachi lives on in the hearts of many, and besides that, they had many independent workers with them.

Ruby bid Kana farewell, and decided to walk to her classroom.

She was humming to herself some old B-Komachi songs, her movement was almost like a dance in its own right, Ruby was a very carefree individual, not paying any mind to any looks she gets.

As she nears her classroom she comes across an individual who was also about to enter the same classroom, so she stops to make small talk, aiming to make as many friends as possible.

Ruby's goal, though it might come off as cringe and not befitting her age, stems from her old self's yearning for friends, because back when she was Sarina, she had none besides her doctor.

-"Hi! Oh my god, you look so beautiful!"

Ruby started the conversation with this individual, immediately trying to break the ice with a compliment, which flustered the receiving end, and caused her to stammer in her wording.

-"Oh, U-uhmm... Th-"

Ruby proceeded to introduce herself, cutting over what the person was trying to say.

You can pin it on her excitement and her cheerfulness, but this was one of Ruby's worst and best qualities.

-"I'm Ruby, I joined the Performing Arts Program, like you! What's your name? Do you act? Oh wait, you look like you'd make a beautiful model!"

The other person was stunned at how she was giving her no chance to reply, though, after Ruby finished talking, she stared at the person waiting for answers.

This person, realizing she could finally talk, got her words in order.

-"O-oh, nice to meet you, Ruby-San.. Uhm...

I'm Himetsu Hoshi.. You can call me Hime..

I'm an independent idol of sorts..?

You can call it that I guess."

Ruby clasped her hands together in amazement, she was finally meeting an idol, and now she thinks a little bit, she might've seen her face somewhere before.

Hime's look was unique, her red-tinted hair mixed with her silver-ish eyes made for an unforgettable look, befitting an idol.

-"Ohmygod! You're an idol? That's so amazing! How does it feel?"

-"It's fun, but, what about you, Ruby-San? What do you do?"

Ruby's expression froze, she remembered that while she was amazed at this school full of talented entertainers...

She herself wasn't anything...

-"Uhhh... I'm.."

Hime, realizing the question she asked might've been a gut punch to Ruby, immediately tried to patch things up.

-"Ah, don't worry! It's not like you're in a hurry or anything, to be honest, with how cute you look, you'd easily make for an idol or a model! You just have to land the correct company, and that's no easy task, don't feel down!"

Ruby looked at the bright side of things once more, appreciating what Hime had said to her.

-"Okay, how about we talk more in class?"

Ruby pointed towards the class, and Hime nodded.

Picking her seat, Ruby chose a seat in the corner, the seat in front of her was currently empty, and the one to her right had a beautiful pink haired girl sitting in it, said girl waved to Ruby, which made her quite nervous remembering everyone's going to ask her what she does..

Hime sat in front of Ruby, and turned around to face her, and she found her already talking to that pink haired individual.

-"Hey... Y'think it's fine to be googlin' me in front of my face..?"

Ruby found the person she was searching for, Minami Kotobuki, a gravure model.

Ruby was, quite frankly, not that surprised, considering the person's body.

"H-Hey... Please don't judge me.. I already get enough of that.."

-"Hey, it's fine, I won't judge you, it's not like I myself do anything.."

-"Wait, really?! Ya look like you're an idol, I ain't jokin'!"

Ruby was flattered by the compliment, and her imagination began to run wild, imagining a dome full of people watching her performance as an idol.

She was brought back into reality by Hime tapping her shoulder.

-"Oh, sorry, eheh.. I was thinking of something for a second.. My bad.."

The other two chuckled slightly at her, Ruby was quite an enjoyable individual to be around, that was for sure.

So, to not make herself zone off or feel any worse about not being a worker in the entertainment industry, she tries to divert the topic.

-"So, what do you all like to do at home?"

Minami looked up and began thinking, she gave off the air of a very busy person.

Hime, however just answered, blunt and honest.

-"I don't really do anything productive, I work on my lyrics here and there with the help of my dad, I practice some singing, other than that, not much.

I guess I like watching anime?"

Ruby gasped at this newfound interest between them, anime.

Meanwhile, Minami was still thinking.

-"Oh! Are you for real?! Tell me, Hime-Chan! What animes do you like?!"

-"I like the more animation-focused kind.. Like [Fate] and [Demon Slayer], all that stuff."

-"Woah, not bad, I don't watch much anime but I love a good slice of life, [Pet Girl of Sakura-Sou] is a prime example! And.. some music animes.."

Hime was not moved by what Ruby said, because she half-expected her to say something that involves some romance and something about music.

Minami finally figured out what she does that is considered as "Spending your free time", and gave her answer in the best way possible.

-"I like sleeping, I guess?"

Ruby and Hime gave her a look of "I don't want to question what you just said so I don't hurt your feelings", and carried on.

The day went by peacefully, Ruby, Hime and Minami were walking together, when Ruby saw Aqua walking by himself, and she rushed over to him with glistening eyes.

-"Yo! Onii-Chan! How's it going for you?"

Aqua looked at her blankly, then sighed.

-"Stop calling me Onii-Chan... I have a name.. It's Aqua...

As for that.. It's going alright.

I enrolled in the General Education Program."

-"HAAAAH?! WHAT?! WHY?"

Aqua's ears lost hearing for a second, and he kept "Debating" with his sister as to why he did what he did.

Minami was just silently observing, not wanting to butt in, and Hime was surprised.

<I thought they looked similar.. Brother and sister... And they both look amazing..>

Hime stood beside Minami, a smile on her face, watching the bickering of Aqua and Ruby unfold.
