As she slept in a deep, unconscious state, her phone vibrated insistently. She forced her heavy eyes open, propped herself up, and picked up the phone to answer the call.
"Darling," Billie's voice came through the phone, "I heard you had a high fever last night, how are you now?"
Hearing his voice, her lethargic state was forcibly shaken off. She found Billie so strange. He had always just wanted to sleep with her, so why was he suddenly concerned about her health now? Sending her messages and now calling her, could it be that he knew she was dying and was planning to let her go?
As these thoughts rushed through Alla's mind, she maintained her composure and replied indifferently, "I'm fine now."
"As long as you're fine," Billie responded extremely casually, then anxiously asked, "You called me just now, did you manage to sort out that matter?"
Alla knew it, Billie wouldn't care about her health, this was his real motive. The excuse she used to escape from him that day was to use an indecent video to threaten Casiano into handing over a project. She had spoken with conviction, but only she knew that all of it was a lie.
She didn't have any video, she could never go to Casiano, and she definitely wouldn't threaten Casiano for a project. She had already planned to keep dragging Billie along with this excuse.
Until Maggie successfully got married, then she would confront Billie. Yes, she had decided, she would exchange her life for Maggie's peace in the second half of her life. However, Billie seemed to be getting impatient, "The bidding meeting starts on the tenth of next month, when is he going to think till?"
Alla furrowed her brows, Maggie's wedding was on the ninth of next month. She initially wanted to wait until Maggie got married and then confront Billie. But the bidding meeting was on the tenth, the timing was too tight, and Billie definitely wouldn't allow her to drag it till the tenth.
After thinking about it, Alla gritted her teeth and said, "On the ninth of next month, he said he will give me a definite answer."
"Fuck!" Billie cursed, "Give me the video, I'll negotiate myself."
Alla was startled, her hands trembling with anxiety. Fortunately, she reacted quickly, steadied her mind, and calmly said, "Mr. Roman, I used this method to threaten Mr. Davies to get the project for you, and he's already very upset with you. If you take this video to him yourself, it will only anger him further. By then, not only will you completely offend him, but you may also lose the project. This would be a loss rather than a gain, don't you agree?"
Billie thought about it and felt Alla was right. Threatening Casiano in this way was not aboveboard. If he threatened Casiano again, it might lead to a fight to the death. He dropped a sentence, "On the ninth, I want to see the contract, otherwise, I'll have my guys rape your girlfriend at her wedding!"
Alla's heart clenched, Billie even knew the date of Maggie's wedding, showing that he had been monitoring them. Now not only Maggie, but also Maggie's husband might be implicated. She had to get better as soon as possible.
With this thought, Alla put down the phone, forced herself to get up, and walked to her desk. She opened the drawer and took out several bottles of medicine. She picked out the sleeping pills and put them in a separate empty bottle. Then, numbly, she took the other medicines for heart failure and stuffed them into her mouth.
She had to do her best to live until Maggie's wedding day. And she must make Billie pay a terrible price for his actions!
