Chương 32: COMING CLEAN

Waking up after getting only two hours of sleep was not in any way helpful to Hyla at the moment as he woke up, staring at the morning sun he could not help but wonder.

"Am I going to run into it again today?" he wondered with a blank look on his face.

Thinking all night only managed to make the problem seem even worse to Hyla as he stood up from his bed.

"What's going on?" asked Grey as he noticed Hyla's blank expression.

"it's nothing, just couldn't sleep" replied Hyla with a forced smile.

"Are you sure? You do know that if somethings going on you can tell me" said Grey as he tried to pry for more information without seeming like he was trying to.

"No… I'm alright" said Hyla. How could he possibly dump this immense fear he felt onto some else, no matter how much he thought about it he just could not bear to drop this bomb on someone else.

"ok, I'm going to take my bath now" said Grey as he left for the bathroom.

Hyla just sat back on the edge of his bed with his face buried in his palms.

"Hyla, I believe that once 'he' finds out who you are your friends won't be safe" said Blue as he materialized.

"What?" asked Hyla who was lost in thoughts and even failed to notice the appearance of Blue which was only visible to him.

"Kid, I don't think you should go out" said Blue.

"No, I need to go out" argued Hyla.

"Trust me it's for your own good, after all you won't be doing yourself much good by going out in that state" countered Blue, "Plus if you go out there like that if 'he' doesn't kill a car probably would seeing as you can't even stop yourself from getting lost in your own thoughts" finished Blue.

"No, I got this' said Hyla in a you don't have a say in this manner.

"Alright"

"Pull up the stat menu" said Hyla.

The stat menu pops up in front of him as he gazes at it to check the improvement he had made.

Stat points needed for levelling up

Stamina - 57

Strength - 52

Agility - 59

Vitality - 50

Detection – 45

Speed – 60

Current Level: Level 15

Progress tracker: 37/100 to level 16

His speed was his highest available stat with his agility only lagging a point behind. His detection stat was the lowest being seven points behind any other stat.

Right now, the only thing that felt comforting to him was the fact that he somehow had a way to get stronger and survive but that was only if he was able to live that long.

"We need to go now Hyla" said Enri who was already done packing his bag.

"Give me a minute" said Hyla as he just shoved all the books on the table into his bag.

"Dude, hurry up" screamed Grey who was also tired of waiting.

"Done, let's go" said Hyla as he burst out of the room.

The reason Hyla dashed out the room was partially because he was afraid of going out and he knew if he so much as hesitated any longer he would decisively skip classes that day.

"Alright" thought Hyla as he exited the dorm.

Unable to bear it any longer he kept looking around himself nonstop he was extremely on edge and he did not even realize it. Every couple of steps he took he scanned his surroundings, so much so that Grey and Enri were watching him as he acted like a mad man.

"Something's definitely wrong" said Grey.

"yeah, he's been acting really fishy since yesterday" said Enri in agreement.

"For real?" asked Grey, "Do you know why?" he asked.

"No, it's not like if we ask him he's going to tell us?" said Enri.

"That's right, let's just watch him for now" suggested Grey.

Hyla who was too busy observing his surroundings was not able to even hear them as all his senses were spread out searching for anything out of the ordinary and ignoring everything else.

"Hyla you need to snap out of this" said Blue sternly as he scolded Hyla.

"I can't let my guard down now" said Hyla, "You should know how close it was to finding us so there's no way I'm letting my guard down" he said as paid no heed to what Blue said earlier.

"do you know how much stamina you're losing because of this?" asked Blue.

"I don't care" replied Hyla snappily at Blue.

Blue knew it was basically a wasted effort trying to convince Hyla to drop his guard for a moment and just disappeared.

This continued for a week, causing Grey and Enri to be really worried. It did not matter if they were only going out to eat or to train at the gym or classes, no matter where they were headed Hyla was always on maximum alert.

Grey and Enri had no other option but to confront Hyla as they entered the room.

"Bro, you've got to tell us what's wrong" said Grey cornered Hyla.

"I'm telling you there's nothing wrong" said Hyla, "What about the assignment?" he asked.

"Stop trying to change the topic man, say something" urged Grey.

"Dude, we know there's something wrong, you've been acting like someone or something's going to suddenly jump out and attack us" said Enri.

"You guy's won't understand" said Hyla as he turned around.

"of course, we won't understand and it's all because you've not said a single thing" said Grey obviously annoyed.

"So, tell us what's going on" said Enri.

The past week Blue had been arguing with Hyla over telling them about Blue's existence and the alien which was hunting them. It was such a big argument that Blue and Hyla ended up arguing deep in the night.

Hyla felt like he should tell them so they would know what kind of danger they were in, since leaving them in the dark would only put them in danger without them knowing why.

Blue felt like if they were to know it would only put them in more danger since it might target them afraid that its existence would be revealed and use them to get a hold of Hyla. Blue was trying to get rid of all possible weakness Hyla had but that was not possible.

"Hyla, what's going on?" asked Grey.

"Remember what happened back then?" I asked.

"when?" asked Grey confused, "dude don't confuse me more" he said.

"Do you guys remember that monster attack when we went to the movies?" I asked.

"Yeah, when Grey and Susanne left the theatre and ended up in that mysterious monster attack?" asked Enri confirming if he was right.

"Yeah" I said.

"What about it?" asked Enri.

"Don't be scared but…" I slowly began to explain to them about everything in the simplest way I deemed possible while hopping they would not freak out.
