Chương 15: Chapter 15: The Walking Experience

Standing in front of Zhongyuan Apartment, Jin dismounted his MotorCycle and surveyed the familiar building before him with narrowed eyes.

In front of him stood a sleek and modern middle-class apartment with a minimalist design featuring clean lines and neutral colors.

Large windows and balconies on each floor provided stunning views of the surrounding sunrise, making this building the most conspicuous in the neighborhood of average-looking houses.

The building was surrounded by a tall, sturdy brick wall, designed to provide security and privacy for the residents, with controlled entrance and exit points.

The wall was equipped with lighting fixtures that allowed for surveillance equipment to be fixed in standing iron poles on each corner.

Jin was currently standing in front of the entrance point, where a small security post booth with surveillance equipment was scanning and scrutinizing him.

However, Jin's focus was fixed on the balconies and larger windows, some of which had hand-sized holes in the glass. Neglected plants behind the gate provided evidence that intruders had reached this far.

Noticing the double doors made of high-quality wood, Jin observed that they were marred with scratches that ruined the intricate carving work.

"I feel so exhausted and just want to sleep. It's been a long and tiring night," Wei Jingyi interrupted Jin's silent observation.

Wei Jingyi, a twenty-two-year-old resident of Zhongyuan Apartment, yawned as she slowly removed her black, form-fitting, full raider suit.

The sound of the zipper opening filled the air, revealing a pair of perfectly crafted breasts, drenched in sweat and dripping down her shirt.

Raising her head to the sky, she revealed a pair of deep brown almond-shaped eyes as she stretched her long, slender neck, and removed the full-face helmet that had been bothering her all night with her smooth hands.

She wore a black tank top and durable, flexible pants that allowed her to move freely. Her long black hair was tied in a high ponytail, and her intense determination was reflected in her eyes, making her a hidden beauty.

She frowned as she focused on the view before her. "It seems this area has also been attacked by those bats," she remarked.

Jin, who had his ears perked up, confirmed his hunch. "She really didn't come for me," he thought to himself as he turned to face Wei Jingyi.

"Miss Wei, as security, it's my duty to ensure the safety of the tenants.

"I'd feel much more comfortable if you stayed here for a moment while I checked the surrounding area and confirmed it's safe," Jin explained, trying to be reassuring.

Although he had seen her cut the speed of sniper bullets and summon swords out of nowhere, he was concerned she might become a liability or even cause trouble if they encountered danger.

"Um, yeah, I think it's a good idea, little Jin," Wei Jingyi replied softly with reluctance.

She fidgeted with her long ponytail that brushed against her cheeks with one hand, while the other hand gripped her pants tightly.

"She clearly wants to go," Jin thought inwardly, as he could sense the burning excitement and expectation in her almond-shaped brown eyes.

Wei Jingyi unknowingly held the shotgun tightly after taking off the raider suit, so Jin politely asked, "Well then, may I have my weapons back?"

Refilling the shotgun shell magazine tubes, Jin checked the rest of his ammo in the ammo pouch strapped to his chest.

After all of the battles, his original 200 shotgun shells had dwindled down to 195.

Even though he had lost three of them just to scare off those angry people, the remaining shells were not a problem for him to slaughter the remaining Vampiric Bats or even Blood Salves.

After checking his weapons, he also examined his remaining passive skills along with his stats, assessing his current battle power.

He was especially careful to check the passive skills that would be used in the upcoming battles.

[Deadshot(Passive): User accuracy with guns is greatly increased. User gains a 30% increase in accuracy with firearms and a 10% increase in critical hit chance]

"Hmm, these two are more than enough. I still have my Bloodthirst and Regeneration too, I only need to worry about critical attacks," Jin observed and came to a conclusion.

He glanced down at his vest, which had a bullet hole on the right chest from the previous battle. "Those gangs are really good with their guns," he was slightly surprised by their accuracy.

Only after making all his preparations, Jin took out his identity card from his pocket. He pointed the card at the surveillance equipment, and with a beeping sound, the iron gate automatically opened.

Taking a deep breath, Jin slowly bent his body, gripping the shotgun and pointing the barrel slightly lowered to the ground.

"Where are the rest of the security?" His first destination was the security post, but he found it empty without any sign of living beings.

The security door was reinforced with iron bars protruding outside. Reaching into his pocket, Jin slowly unlocked the door and entered the room.

"Are they already dead?" In the familiar, tight room with the AC blowing, Jin scanned the area with his eyes.

On the desk, a monitor displayed various camera footage monitoring each floor and important areas, but Jin's focus was on checking the surroundings.

There was a telephone on the desk, and the cabinet looked clean. There was no blood, not even a spilled cup of coffee or an unused walkie-talkie.

Even if those bats were attacking, their first target would be this room, yet...

"Were they slacking off?" Jin shook his head and proceeded to grab several keys, shoving them into his pockets.

He closed the door and placed his shotgun on the desk, then reached for the phone and began dialing numbers.

Before him was a transparent bulletproof glass, through which he could see Wei Jingyi's worried expression as she kept peering through the gate.

As he dialed, the phone connected, but all that could be heard was a buzzing sound.

Beep... beep... beep...

"The receptionist is probably already dead too. Given that the Vampiric Bats were strong enough to rip human flesh, the chance of them being alive was almost zero."

Now the situation inside the apartment was uncertain and seemed full of hidden danger.

Jin proceeded to take a look at the CCTV footage, but what he saw slightly shocked him. The focus of the CCTV footage was on the lobby.

The HD pictures showed the clean and elegant floor now covered in blood, the vases were broken, and the receptionist's desk was split in half. Despite this mess, strangely the telephone was unharmed.

"The situation is already bad, I think they might already be heading to the basement,"

Jin concluded as he shifted his slitted ember eyes to the next screen, where he saw that the lights in the corridor had already been cut off.

The CCTV cameras were placed at the end of the corridor, where the big glass transparent windows were located behind it. The camera zoomed in on the area where the sunlight didn't reach the left side of the escalator.

"So, they were hiding," Jin muttered as his eyes focused on the second floor. He noticed many pairs of red eyes looking towards him.

To be precise, those eyes seemed to be locking their gazes on the end of the door, the door that was exactly in front of the CCTV.

"Some tenants might still be alive, should I save them or not?" Jin's gaze momentarily lingered on the second floor. He had the ability to save them, but it would cost him several bullets.

He had confidence to handle all of them, but now he wondered what benefit he could get.

"Hmm..." Jin paused for a moment, then shifted his eyes to the rest of the CCTV footage.

Except for the second floor, the lights on the other floors were already cut off, leaving only many pairs of red eyes lingering around the corridors.

But the sunlight brought some visibility, allowing him to see some knocking movements from several doors.

After observing the field, Jin's focus shifted to the game screen floating beside his view, showing his stats.

"Well, no need to be a jerk. I owe the owner, so I need to at least fulfill my final duty." Jin decided, but a glint flashed in his eyes.

His amber eyes, with their slit pupils, were fixed on the pairs of red eyes as if they were prey ready to be slaughtered.

"Looks like a walking experience point, hehe..."
