Chương 99: Side Story: The World Left Behind

Authors Note:

This chapter was suggested by Kristal_Black. Most of this chapter is a description of the events. I broke up the paragraphs so it isn't a massive wall of text. That being said you can skip this chapter if you want as it will likely have no bearing on the story as a whole. That and this story is a way for me to make use of some random ideas.

POV Chronicler

It had been a few years since the unification of Korea. And the reveal of Aliens. The day the entire world woke up from our self-imposed delusion of being the only sentient beings in the universe. The entire world unraveled. Chaos reigned across the world. The creator of the Star Wars series went into witness protection for safety. Then the space race began again. Every country was desperate to be the first to replicate the technology seen by Captain Rio Magus.

Chronicler: "Then humans started getting bad ideas."

It started with a cult. Then evolved into a movement. They called themselves the Je'daii. Despite what their name would suggest they were not like the Jedi. No, they were closer to the Sith. They believed that the only way for Earth to survive was if it was united under a singular nation. They weren't the only group to come out of this. Nations dissolved under coups made to join one of the factions under the idea that they must join one of the factions of the greater universe. Less Earth be eradicated or enslaved.

Chronicler: "Of course, no one knows what side is the actual leader of the galaxy, and as such many are arguing with each other about who is a fool."

The world was split 6 ways. War was seen as inevitable as all sides refused to agree with each other. The factions were the New Republic, Imperial, C.I.S., Je'daii, Neutral, and Old World. There was also a secretive cult that Worshipped Rio Magus but they were small and most ignored them as harmless wierdos. The silver lining in all of this was that everyone agreed to not use Nuclear Weapons. Not out of any notion of MAD but instead they believed they were the only hope Earth had to negotiate or destroy an alien invasion. You may ask the question of where George Lucas was in all of this. The answer is surprising but he and his family were under the protection of the Rio Cultists. The leader of which was a former criminal who met the Captain directly.

Chronicler: "Then came the supernatural side of the world."

Almost all of them joined the Rio Cultists to stay out of the war because one of their members was given extraordinary powers by consuming the blood of Rio. She was given the power of Force Sensitivity and became the second in command of the Cult.

(AN: killua32829 was right and yes his blood may contain no DNA but still contained some very potent magical essence. Alicorn Blood with Midoclorians and some Leshen Blood makes a powerful mutagenic potion. )

Due to this powerful Vampire assisting them, they managed to navigate the tumultuous world safely. The Cult was the nominal government of Iceland. Now after years of chaos, the world had started to calm down. Unfortunately, once the world had been completely divided a Cold War began. Neutral countries were turned into proxy battlefields. The Old World Faction was on the constant defensive as one of the weakest factions. The Je'daii and Imperials joined together. Their goal was the eventual annexation of the Old World Factions territory. The C.I.S. Faction wanted to annex the New Republic Faction.

Chronicler: "Basically the world was a powder keg waiting for a spark."

Unfortunately, the Cold War didn't last too long. Once the last neutral country Ireland fell the world had no more proxy wars that could be done. Thus began the 3rd World War. An agreement was made between the Imperial and the C.I.S. Factions. Both sides wouldn't invade the other and instead focus on taking out the other remaining factions. 14 Years later only 3 major factions remain on Earth. The Imperials, Je'daii, and C.I.S. The problem came after the 3rd World War ended. No one trusted the other and a stalemate was made. The issue with the Alliance between the Imperials and Je'daii was simple.

Chronicler: "To be united by hatred is a fragile alliance at best."

The Je'daii was a religious-based nation and the Imperials were more anti-religion based. The C.I.S. were cosmopolitan and let anyone believe what they wanted as long as it didn't hurt anyone. With such a fundamental difference and the fact that all three factions wanted to be the undisputed rulers of the world meant they couldn't invade the other without opening themselves up to an invasion from the third. No one side had a massive advantage over the other. So a technology race began.

Chronicler: "You see war has an interesting effect on technology development."

It speeds it up. While all of this was happening the Rio Cultists had begun constructing a spaceship. The ship was their Ark. Its purpose was to evacuate their people off Earth and go to a distant star system. You may be asking yourself how they expect to get there without dying. Using a magic space drive that uses a combination of the Force Pathfinder ability and Magical Spatial manipulation. They were doing this because the mutant vampire had foreseen the end of the world.

Chronicler: "And for once a prediction of the end of the world was right."

You see the funny thing about humans is that they can be stupid in a group. Combine stupidity with propaganda and indoctrination from an early age and you get fanatics willing to do anything to "save" the world from the enemy. While the Riolites (Rio Cultists) were finishing the construction of their ship the war to end all wars started. By this time every magical creature on Earth had fled to Iceland for protection. The Riolites had gathered everything they would need to make a new civilization.

POV Magus

Magus: "My people we are finally ready to begin the great voyage. By the grace of Rio, we will make it off this world and make a new world for everyone."

(AN: Magus is the title of the leader of the cult. The title for the second in command is Crepusculum.)

Crepusculum: "Now everyone on the ship we have no time to delay. We will make it I swear."

Everyone gets on the ship and I begin the launch sequence. As we get into orbit I activate the virus we created to disable the orbital defenses. Once I saw it worked I breathed a sigh of relief. I looked at my fellow leader and I asked her a question.

Magus: "Are you sure about this?"

Crepusculum: "I am certain we will survive."

Magus: "But will you?"

Crepusculum: "If I die then it is a minor sacrifice for the greater good. I gladly give my life to our people."

Magus: "Rio willingly."

Crepusculum: "Rio willingly."

Crepusculum activates the Magidrive and I feel the space around us start to feel stretchy. I felt my body feel like I was made of pudding. Everything was distorting and I was starting to worry we might not make it.

(AN: Watch the 700 Space Jumps Scene from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to get an idea about what is happening to them.)

POV Chronicler

Chronicler: "The Riolites escaped and made it to their so-called Gaia's Eden. Meanwhile, Earth was a mess."

[Image Of Earth As Riolites Leave Here]

Nobody knows who launched the first nuke. But it doesn't matter. The result was the same. Almost all life on the planet was killed. What survived didn't live much longer as Nuclear Winter began. By the year 2050, all life on Earth died.

Chronicler: "You may wonder who I am."

I am the Chronicler. I am the one remaining on Earth. But I hear you asking you said all life died. The answer is simple.

Chronicler: "I am not alive."

Under the hood is a skull with blue fire in the eye sockets.

Chronicler: "Now I wait here. I am waiting but for what I am not certain. I just know I must wait."

The Chronicler sits down on a rock and looks out over the frozen landscape.

Authors Note:

A shorter chapter but this is a side story and a bonus chapter. Again this story will likely have no relevance to the story. Just a fun little writing exercise. The Chronicler is Lich made from all the emotions of humans who died from the wars. I would imagine him to be neutral in terms of Karma as he is made up of the negative and positive emotions of human spirits. Until next time ciao.
