Baili Xia woke up in a small hotel room, and by the time she woke up, it was almost noon the next day.
As soon as she regained consciousness, she felt a terrible pain between her legs, so intense that she almost cried out.
The vivid pain brought back images from last night, each one tearing at her heart.
The man named Mr. Xiaojiu had violated her brutally.
She didn't know why he left later, but she used the pain he inflicted upon her to regain some consciousness and jumped out of the window from the second floor...
Later, her body started to feel hot, as if someone had thrown her into a freezing lake. After that, she couldn't recall anything.
Now...beyond the thought of still being in a strange room, Baili Xia felt a wave of fear and mustered all her strength to pull herself up while enduring the pain.
The room was empty, provoking a sigh of relief from Baili Xia, she was afraid of encountering the man who seemed just like a demon.
There was a set of new clothes on the bedside table. She wore them weakly, tidied herself up, and left in haste.
Fortunately, no one stopped her.
After leaving the hotel, she found some cash in the pocket of her clothes.
She flagged down a taxi on the street, asking the driver to head to the hospital urgently.
Baili Xia didn't have a cell phone, she had spent all her money on her mother's medical treatment. If she wasn't in such a rush to leave, she wouldn't even have taken a taxi.
Upon reaching the hospital, she straightened her clothes, checked them carefully, and once she found nothing amiss, she dragged her aching legs towards the hospital.
She needed to confront her uncle and demand an explanation from him. She wanted to know why he had betrayed her!
What Baili Xia hadn't anticipated was that by the time she arrived at the hospital, her mother was already in surgery.
Her relatives scolded her, and all Baili Xia could do was bear it silently, not daring to reveal where she had been the previous night.
From her relatives, she'd learned someone had paid all her mother's medical expenses, along with a month's additional medical fees.
Everyone was guessing who it might have been, but all Baili Xia could do was pretend she didn't know and silently stand aside.
But her uncle...had not been seen since that day...

Although someone had paid for her mother's treatments, Baili Xia didn't remain idle.
On the third day after her mother's successful surgery, she found a summer job at a large company, Shengyi Group, as a temporary illustrator.
The days passed, moving between the hospital, company, and home. Despite the hustle, her days were fulfilling.
The pain she'd felt, that night had subsided, and she had moved on from that event.
Mr. Xiaojiu, even if she couldn't forget him, at the very least, didn't haunt her nightmares anymore.
Life was peaceful until one day when a VIP client visited Shengyi Group, and her serene world was once again shattered.
Because of the prestigious status of the guest, the Chairman thought there weren't enough women in the PR department. He selected some beautiful girls from the summer hires, like her, to temporarily join the welcoming team.
Anyone who garnered such strong consideration from the Chairman was of great importance. The girls were anticipating the guest's arrival in the parking lot.
Baili Xia was also in the welcoming team. She was not interested in who the guest was and was thinking about what soup to cook for her mother when she got back that night.
It was only when the girls gasped and even screamed that she casually looked up.
But she didn't expect that the gaze thrown her way would freeze her heart, as if on the verge of stopping completely.
