Chương 175: Finally Escaping

But such a limitation was pretty much negligible compared to the sheer power and potential of such an ability.

From a single look, Minos not only had read Lilia's memories, but had even memorized some important information, one of the most critical being Lilia's slight understanding of the Lukalu language.

Of course, such understanding was useless to him because a single glance at the books on the shelves would immediately download the information into his brain, as if the language difference didn't even exist.

However, some books his powers didn't work on, likely because they contained information beyond his level, but that honestly didn't matter anymore because he had already mastered the Lukalu's language to an incredible degree by now.

By now he could just pick up the books and read them physically, so while he couldn't learn their information instantly, their secrets were also no longer hidden from his eyes.

But none of this made Minos forget his current reality, the old man's footsteps a reminder that Potin was close to death.

His transformation may have seemed long, but it was actually incredibly quick, reaching completion in only a few minutes.

Normally, reaching the Inner Heaven realm would take hours of deep concentration, but because Minos was facing it with the determination of death, he finished much faster than usual.

His previous ideas of death were immediately extinguished the second he unlocked a golden Inner Heaven, and with his Aptus, it was made further clear that he couldn't die here.

Fortunately he had come to just and time, and the old man was just on his way to Potin's room, ready to kill him as well.

Looking around the room for an answer, Minos's mind began running at a million miles a minute, his soul also finally receiving the benefits of his new breakthrough.

His Embryonic Rune reappeared, immediately splitting off two new split runes, as if sending him coal in the midst of a winter storm.

The two quickly joined the other four, six runes revolving around the Embryonic Rune in peace as they sent their powers to Minos.

With the new runes, his soul split off another two pieces, 6 split souls in total, 7 if one counted his own soul.

With 7 souls thinking independently, not to mention his Omniscient Eyes and his Mind Lock that had also increased his thinking speed, it was like his mind had evolved from a serpent into a dragon.

With all the pieces put together, success was expected, and after only thinking for a split second, Minos quickly found a solution.

Watching the old man head towards Potin's room, Minos finally stood up, his injuries having been healed by his breakthrough.

Both Lilia and the old man were slightly surprised to see Minos moving after such an injury, but neither seemed to care much.

'Arrogance… A humble heart is the key to eternity.' Minos reminded himself as he saw their eyes, quickly running towards the large screen.

Underneath the large screen, an intricate system was set up with all sorts of keys, once an enigma to Minos, but now revealing a lot of its mysteries.

"Hey you old impotent bastard, it's no wonder your wife cheated on you." Minos suddenly shouted at the old man.

"What the hell did you say, how did you know that?" The old man growled, his face going red with anger, the first time Minos having ever seen him with any sort of emotion.

As the old man was consumed with anger, Minos flipped a switch, causing a small hole to open directly above the old man's head, spraying out a familiar blue flame.

But with the old man's cultivation, the entire event unfolded at what felt like a snail's pace, allowing him to easily avoid the flames.

The old man almost wanted to laugh at Minos's flimsy methods, but before he could, Minos flipped another switch, activating another trap.

Soon enough, the old man was running around the room like a headless chicken as he avoided the traps, slowly inching closer to Minos in an attempt to forcefully rip him away from the device.

He was still afraid of killing him, so he purposely didn't use any Nux, instead wanting to disable him with physical force.

The traps were easy to dodge in his eyes, so he wasn't actually that afraid of them, instead wearing a mocking smile on his face as he got closer to Minos.

"Got you!" The old man laughed, as he was only an arms reach from grabbing Minos.

"No, got you." Minos said, returning the laugh.

Before the old man could even react, a heavy wall dropped from the ceiling, blocking off the screen and its panel from the rest of the room.

Normally, this was used as a last method attempt to protect the Lukalu person who was using the device, but if the timing was good enough, it could also be used as a weapon.

For the old man, who had already lunged towards Minos, it was impossible to make any more changes in his direction, so he could only watch as the massive wall crushed his body, separating his upper body from lower.

The old man didn't even have a chance to say anything, dying instantly as his stomach and part of his chest was completely reduced to mush.

For the first time, Lilia was shocked, her face filled with horror, not because she cared about the old man's death, but rather because Minos had actually managed to kill him.

Looking at her, Minos only let out a slightly sardonic smile, before pressing another dial on the large device.

Seeing his movement, Lilia quickly pulled out a talisman from her spatial ring, and before Minos's trap could kill her, she was consumed by a white light, vanishing.

Minos got a glimpse at the talisman before Lilia used it, but unfortunately, he got nothing, proving it was likely a high-level spatial talisman beyond his current realm.

Despite being dissatisfied with her escape, he was happy enough to get out alive, having initially thought that today was destined to end with his death.

With another switch, the wall receded back into the ceiling, Minos looking at the old man's desecrated corpse with a sigh of relief.

He was no fan of death, but the old man's was a reminder of his freedom, and while he still had the blood mark to deal with, his Omniscient Eyes should make quick work of it.

For now, he was still wondering how Potin was doing, so as soon as the wall gave way, he headed towards Potin's room.

Walking inside, he found Potin hiding in a dark corner, trying his best to blend with the surroundings.

"You can come out now, the old man's dead." Minos said with a laugh as he saw Potin's tightly coiled body.

Seeing Minos, Potin was shocked, his heart having already accepted death from a long time ago, so this was an incredibly welcome death.

"What the hell happened? I thought I was dead for sure!" Potin said as he got up from his tight hiding spot, dusting off his body as he did so.

"It's a long story." Minos said, as he briefly explained what had happened and how he had managed to kill the old man.

Of course he naturally didn't relieve his Omniscient Eye, instead lying about some parts so that the story seemed more believable.

'Really? He managed to figure those buttons out right in time? He's probably lying, but who cares? Everyone has their secrets, I'm just happy I'm alive!' Potin thought, completely unaware that Minos was reading his mind.

Seeing that he didn't seem to put much thought into Minos's lies, Minos was relieved, not wanting to have someone constantly on his back trying to figure out his secrets.

Minos already predicted such a result though, having come to a slight understanding of Potin's character after their interactions.

"Thank you man, thank you for saving me, really…" Potin said genuinely as he cleared his thoughts, his suspicions tossed out the window, just happy that Minos was such a good friend.

"No problem, it's my Path after all." Minos laughed.

"Path, huh? I only just taught you about it, and it feels like you're already doing things better than me." Potin returned the laugh.

"Talking about Paths, why not come join my sect? With your cultivation and age, you can easily get an inner disciple position, and with my help, becoming a core disciple isn't impossible." Potin suggested, not wanting to say goodbye to a person as kind as Minos.

"It's in my nature to explore, so I'm afraid I'll have to reject your offer. Besides, I'm still afraid of that crazy b****, so if I join your sect, I'm worried she may find out and do something."

"Is she really that powerful?" Potin questioned, having made some estimates of Lilia's identity, but not sure of the truth.

"Is the most talented daughter of the current acting emperor of the Aleph Empire powerful?" Minos answered.

"Wait, is her name Lilia by any chance?" Potin asked.

"Yeah, I guess she's pretty popular, huh?"

"Popular? Way more than popular, it's said the amount of men that want to marry her could line up from one end of the Alephora Continent to the other. I was wondering what such a beautiful woman was doing here, now it makes sense." Potin said, suddenly looking at Minos with a tinge of envy.

"Why the hell are you looking at me like that, did you forget that she just sent out her goon to kill you? Trust me, her love is an incredibly twisted and sick one. Heaven only knows what the Aleph Royal Family is like to raise such a person." Minos sighed.

"Kingdoms are cutthroat as is, and the Aleph Empire, as the controller of the entire continent, it goes without saying what those internal conflicts are like. Probably more of a curse than a blessing to be born in a family like that." Potin said.
