62% Asher's Destiny / Chapter 31: 031 | Inspector

Chương 31: 031 | Inspector

I am the leader of one of the three major forces of Yanalia. My name is Waryun, Captain of the Knights. My name might be a bit exotic for the norm. My parents and I were originally from the Earthen West. I have little to no memories of my time there as we moved to the Allied Central when I was only a few years old.

I may look young due to my genetics but I assure you, I'm not getting any younger. I am already 32 years old and married with two kids. I'm taller than most people here in Yanalia, reaching 190 centimeters. I have short black military-cut hair which makes my small scar on the left side of my forehead stand out more. My lengthy eyes and sharp eyebrows paired with my blue eyes make my face practically known everywhere.

Despite my age, I'm constantly keeping my body in shape. Not to brag or anything but I'm quite muscular. People typically compare my physique with Pen.

When I first received a request from the manager of the AU, it was quite shocking to me that three kids had just been registered as mercenaries. Not only that, one of the kids had enough talent to be instantly granted the rank of a Two Star Silver Mercenary.

Now that's intriguing.

Currently, the mission was a huge success. Thanks to the new mercenaries, we brought down the crime syndicate that was responsible for enslaving children from Yanalia and its surrounding area. I believe we've also got a general location of where their slave auction takes place thanks to the Two Star Silver Mercenary kid.

Though...this was unexpected.

I was jumping atop the roofs of buildings, chasing after a fight between a blue Draconian and an awfully suspicious individual in full white.

I poured in a small portion of my mana into the magic orb that was used for communication.

"I caught sight of the presumed individual."

Pen replied instantly.

"Great work. According to my mercenaries, the slave traders called him the Inspector. Don't hurt yourself going after them. "

"Don't worry about me. I'm not the Captain for nothing. Talk with my Lieutenant for matters that don't concern me."

"You're really working him hard. I wonder how scared your knights are."

"Are you itching for a fight?"

"I would be but...I'm already satisfied for now. Anywho, I won't bother your chase. Good luck, Captain."

Communications were cut off and stopped pouring my mana into the orb.

Ah, I forgot to mention that I don't specialize in magic. I've awakened my ability to use magic a long time ago but I simply don't. Unlike the other captains, I'm solely based around Raw Energy.

A primitive way of fighting, it may be, but it's what I like. Thanks to the many years I've spent honing my Raw Energy and fighting techniques, I can say I'm second to only the King in Yanalia.

The blue Draconian was fully transformed. They hopped over the walls of Yanalia and fought outside. I followed them closely.

"It's completely one-sided."

Every punch that the Draconian threw, the Inspector dodged and returned a direct hit.

Even if the Draconian managed to connect one of his attacks, the Inspector would return an equal amount of damage as well as be unfazed. His white suit suffered no damage whatsoever.

A child is still a child, be it Draconian or Human.

I coated myself in Raw Energy and jumped from the wall of Yanalia, landing in between the two of them.

The Draconian kid was surprised by this.

"W-who?"

I punched the Inspector in the gut with Raw Energy and sent him flying away. When he came down, he collided with the ground and dragged the dirt and grass along with him.

I smiled at the Draconian.

"I am the Captain of the Knights. Waryun. I'll handle this, don't worry."

The Draconian fazed out his transformation. He was a white-haired boy with blue scaly skin. Like all Draconian-like features, he had two black protruding horns that protruded on both sides of his forehead. He closed his eyes as he fell on his back.

"Quite exhausted, are you?"

"You have no f*cking idea, human. Just let me stay here. He's not even targetting me."

"What might you mean by that?"

"He's the so-called Inspector and looks like he's from the upper echelons of this slave-trading business."

"Thank you for the information. I promise you shall be compensated for everything that has happened."

"Whatever."

The Draconian kid was dressed in rags. Looks like he was also a victim of this criminal organization. I looked over at the Inspector who was just getting up. Like always, he was unfazed by that attack.

"Oh my, you can't be trying to take someone's clothes off like that."

"What are you talking about?"

"What a brute you are~ Coming out of nowhere to undress me."

"I punched your gut."

"And aiming to assault my vulnerable body!"

Yeah, okay~ I'm going to punch this guy SO hard.

I sprinted quickly towards the Inspector. He didn't have any intentions of moving, nor could I read his face with that blank white mask he has on.

I threw a right hook at him but the Inspector merely dodged.

"You dodged that?"

"Of course I did. It's quite slow after all."

"Heh."

I sent out a barrage of punches, the Inspector dodged all of them.

"Can you be ANY slower?"

The Inspector dodged one of my fists and turned his body to do a front kick. As I had anticipated, all those punches were purposely sent out to bait him to attack.

I blocked his kick by raising my knee. I then grabbed his shin, pulling him closer to strike him in the face. He blocked my punch with his palm.

"Ah, you really thought that I would get hit?"

"Not by this."

I turned around to kick his side, I managed to knock the Inspector back a few meters before I continued my assault.

"Not bad. Are you Darius?"

"Don't mutter his name so easily!"

I drove my first, hitting the Inspector's chin sideways. I was awaiting a knockout but nothing of the sort occurred.

"My apologies, I was sent here to...investigate something. Though, now that I got the answer I needed, I will be leaving."

"Oh alright, just make sure to show me your passport and- I AM NOT LETTING YOU LEAVE THAT EASILY!"

"Aw man~"

I released more of the fiery red aura that I was so familiar with. A thick amount of Raw Energy covered me head to toe. My movements were more accurate, sharper, and faster.

As I sent out dozens upon dozens of punches within seconds. The Inspector was obviously skilled as he rivaled my punches with blocks and counters. He was starting to fight back.

Although, what's truly scary about this is that the Inspector was never really going all out. Did he not perceive me as a threat?

"Sir Knight, it would be terribly unfortunate for me if I were to keep my father waiting."

"Is that so? Then turn yourself into Yanalia and surrender all your belongings until we verify your innocence."

The Inspector laughed. His next reply was also released with his killing intent. Such a strong will made a drop of sweat go down my face.

"That...will not be possible."

The Inspector disappeared and came behind me. He swiftly hit my neck, rendering me unconscious.

"Goodbye, now. May we meet again under more favorable conditions, Sir Knight."

I felt time go slower as I fell at the speed of a thin feather. My eyelids were ever so slowly closing themselves. My body would not move as I wanted it to. My Raw Energy dissipated immediately.

...

Raw Energy is the most primal energy. Not everyone can use it but everyone can awaken it manually on their own. It's directly related to your willpower. In a way, your very own consciousness of your abilities.

A study revealed that it's a fact that Raw Energy is more prevalent in those who are physically active than those who are not. People used to theorize that it was because Raw Energy comes to those who have the physical strength to contain it.

However, that's not the case as it doesn't explain why those with a poor physique are able to use it.

The truth behind Raw Energy is that it's only for those with a strong will.

If you hold yourself in high regard and have indomitable determination, you will have the strongest Raw Energy.

Regardless of physique, if you have the will to work hard to better yourself, you can use Raw Energy.

For some reason, I recited what I knew about Raw Energy. Perhaps it's a sign that I shouldn't lose consciousness right here.

...

"I...will not give up so easily!"

I stomped to stop my body from falling over and to reawaken my senses. Once I could move my fingers again, Raw Energy returned to me, shrouding me in a fiery red aura, even stronger than before.

I launched myself at the Inspector and punched his face. He stood still and didn't get knocked away. His head merely tilted in the direction I had struck him.

His bloodlust was oozing right out of him with no control. My body wanted to shake and give up but as a Captain of the Knights, I had the duty and responsibility to protect the citizens.

"So...you refuse to stay down?"

"You're not getting away from me so easily."

The Inspector sighed, "Is that so? I came here in a happy mood and wanted to refrain from killing anyone."

He grabbed my wrist and his insane amount of grip strength lifted me up with one hand and threw me to the ground.

"You just had to ruin my mood, didn't you?"

I coughed up blood as I struggled to get back up again. I didn't expect to be fighting such a monster. I should have prepared myself more thoroughly after hearing what Pen had told me.

This person is well beyond the level of Yanalia. Just where did someone like him come from?

"You're a villain. How could you DARE to think of using children as objects?!"

"Some will have to be sacrificed for the greater good. In this case, our branch in Yanalia was a short-term investment for a decade or two."

"They. Are. Children!"

"Do you think something as immature as age matters? Business is business, they can only blame themselves for their bad luck in getting caught by us."

I backflipped off the ground and targeted the Inspector with a punch to the liver. Unfortunately, he did not move an inch.

I could barely catch the Inspector's movements when he bent his knees and punched the center of my chest. If not for my armor taking the blow, I would have suffered a few broken and shattered bones.

I was knocked back tens of meters away and as I struggled with all my might to get up. My armor had crumbled to dozens of pieces.

The Inspector had already vanished. At least, the Draconian kid was still fine.

"I'm surprised he's still sleeping."
