Chương 1: Protecting the Alpha Queen

"The werewolves and other monsters sniffing around your compound at night are becoming more numerous, Alpha Mark.

It'll only be a matter of time before they discover your wife's identity!" As soon as Serena noticed Mark had picked up the phone, she yawped.

She was already anxious about their current position, and she didn't need anything else added to it—she couldn't take the creatures from there, causing any issue.

She was already devising plans to transport them back in time to their origins.

Every time the full moon came around, they prayed her Alpha's wolf would awaken and find a way for them to return home.

They got hit with disappointments and hopelessness on full moon nights.

Forcing her wolf to awaken might end up doing more harm than good. Her wolf was a lot of things at the same time. She was the Alpha, the warrior queen, the gifted one, and many more titles.

Her blood could both save and destroy many things. Her skin's fur could revive a dead tree.

That same fur might set fire to any tree if it so desired. Its razor-sharp claws could pierce any barrier. Judith was the werewolf that every creature envied in their time, but they couldn't possess her because the moon goddess forbade wolf possession.

They had, however, arrived in the future, when most wolves didn't care who the moon goddess was, much less obey her commands.

If she appeared in front of them, other creatures would not even bow to her.

Judith, the Alpha Queen, had a body that every creature lusted after, and they would gaze at her with covetous gazes.

She was a ticking bomb!

"I understand, but what do you recommend we do? We are unable to…," Serena had already cut him off before Alpha Mark could make an excuse.

"However, being near her attracts them. How long do you think it will take them to figure out that we magically appeared here and that too, with an Alpha mated to a human?"

Serena was a powerful werewolf who had gone a long way with her position, the Beta.

The only person she could trust was her Alpha, Judith, whom she was trying to defend by yelling at another Alpha who happened to be her mate.

Judith's wolf was not only put to sleep, but she also had her memories from a previous life locked up and kept with her wolf, Ezer.

"Do you believe you're the only one concerned about her?" He, too, yelled, and he was spending sleepless nights trying to figure out how to protect his mate.

How was he expected to achieve that when just being in her company was a threat?

Serena also rolled her eyes as Rena scoffed. When they were back home, both she and her wolf realized how much Mark despised Judith.

They were both baffled as to why he was acting as if he cared about her.

His father had advised him that it was the wisest thing to do, so she only allowed him to marry her in this life.

Even though they were from different packs, she from the Hilltop pack and Mark from the Ace pack, it was important for current leaders, the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma, to heed the words of their predecessors.

"Then I believe you should leave her side for the time being. We're all aware that the reason they've come to your home is because of you. They will leave hunting for where you have relocated if they don't scent you when they get there," that sounded reasonable, but his wolf disagreed.

"How do I get away from her? What should I say to her?" He was worried about leaving her alone, but he also didn't know what to say. She was a werewolf who had lost all traces of her wolf, and she was acting and thinking like a human.

"Figure it out on your own, or ask your Beta. He is the one with the gift of storytelling," she hung up on Mark before he could say anything else.

Under his breath, he cursed. Serena was as obnoxious as he remembered. If they hadn't been in the situation they were in, they both would not have called each other.

'Sage, come over,' he mind-linked his Beta, Nathan.

Sage was his middle name, which he suddenly decided to use only when they were traveling into the future.

'Having any issues, Alpha?' With a pant, he replied. Sage could only ever ask a question or question his Alpha because they had grown up together and were best friends.

Nonetheless, he could only do it when the others were not around or paying attention.

'Be here in a minute!' He commanded and quickly dismissed. He knew he was probably out in the woods, running with the other werewolves who had escaped with them.

Sage was already knocking on his door a few minutes later. Mark noticed his pants were wrinkled, and his shirt was also half-buttoned.

"Can you tell me where your wife is?" That was the first question he asked when he entered their hall.

Mark had opened the door for him and attempted to pick out the dry leaves from his hair as he walked passed him.

"She's left the house and gone to work. You're aware that today is Wednesday. Wait! Who is keeping an eye on her?" When he discovered his Beta had no idea where she was, he shot rapidly. He was in charge of keeping an eye on her and ensuring her safety.

"That is the cause of the problem. There are familiar wolf scents surrounding her wherever she goes, which is why other werewolves are intrigued about who she is," as he followed Sage into his office, Sage told.

He had a point, but it could also be because she was the Alpha's wife. Why should they be any different than humans who have guards following them to protect and aid them?

But he just chose not to say anything about it because it would only lead to too many conversations, and he wasn't in the mood for that.

As an Alpha, he had already ordered them to do something, and he expected them to follow through. They had no choice but to obey him.

So Mark told him what Serena had recommended, and the agreement was written all over his face.

"I could have a human coworker write you a phony prescription or anything. He would be performing surgery on you in another state. It might be enough to get you through a few months," Sage suggested as he stood up to lean against the door.

After seeing Sage talk, Mark's wolf murmured to him, 'His hideous face.' He was clinging to the idea that it was impossible so they wouldn't have to leave her side, but there he stood, already devising a strategy as if he knew what he was going to inform him.

"He said yes," He informed. Sage was already putting his phone into his pocket when Mark raised his head; it appeared that he had already called his doctor friend.

"So, you have scheduled to have heart surgery in South Africa. Play your part to perfection. The sickly spouse, "As he went out of the house, he made a snide remark.
