Chương 1: 1 . What Is A Hero ?

" A hero is a symbol of hope son "

Those words , he had wondered what his father had meant while telling him those words . As a young boy , He was always interested in the concept of hero's and why they did what they did . Why they gave so much but in the end received so little .

His father had been an example of this . A true hero . The hero he would never forget . The hero he would remember to his deathbed .

' Chuckling '

" Always remember son , a hero never gives up . No matter how tough it gets "

Leonardo remembered it like it was yesterday . The first day they had met . The first smile his father had given him and the warmth his aura had assured him with .

That fist day in the orphanage . In that cold gloomy orphanage where dreams all but died and children such as himself were abandoned for being unwanted .

Yes , he could remember as the man approached him , his lone self . That bright smile never leaving his face as he walked confidently without hesitation towards him .

Leonardo had always been a strange child . A quiet one when compared to the rest . An observant child when the nannies talked about him and an intelligent one when any one interested in adoption came by . But this traits did not help him in any way .

No parent wanted to adopt a silent gloomy child such as himself . They preferred a vibrant , joy full child that would bring color to their lives and Leonardo had understood that fact and that was why he had mentally resolved himself to never have a family . This had been a fact cemented in his young mind

" A hero's presence should always scream comfort . "

And that was why , on that day , when the smiling man approached Leonardo , he was shocked . And his face clearly showed it .

His father had smiled and chuckled gently and Leonardo remembered for the first time he felt embarrassed . He was not used to people laughing around him . His father had gone on to talk about several things . About how he was a fireman and how he loved helping people . About his house and his family . About how he had lost his wife and Leonardo had listened to everything . In both curiosity and expectance .

Why was he expectant he did not know ? But he felt it then . His life was going to change . Something was going to be different . Even the mysterious gentle smile one of the caretakers was giving him did not diminish his curiosity as he continued to listen .

And then it happened . The hope that was continuously rising in him as the man continue his blabbering finally bore fruit .

" What I'm trying to say is , Leonardo , would you like to be my son . " His father had said , bringing his arm forward for him to take .

Leonardo remembered that time like it was yesterday with the highest clarity possible . It was the day he had smiled his brightest smile ever . The day had had felt his heart beat for the first time and the day he had taken that offered arm . A fact that would change him for life

From that day , his life had changed . His destiny had been re-written for life and he had not regretted a single moment of it .

Leonardo had bloomed . Or more likely , his inner genius was showcased . His brilliance under the careful guidance of his father had grown and his observation of everything around him had only become greater . And that was the main reason he always observed his father , his behavior and his actions and this was the main reason he realized his father was also a special character such as himself .

A hero , in his own right . At least to him , he was a hero

Leonardo , had quickly deducted this from what his genius mind could understand . YES , his father was a Hero !!!

" Remember son , a hero always smiles . No matter the occasion "

He had realized his father's job was dangerous . A job that he did knowing well it's dangers and risks . And despite all that , He still did the job .

" A hero is someone who has been given great power and chooses to use it responsibly "

Despite all that , his father still spared time for him . Making sure he was never lonely . Making sure he was never bored . Making sure he was always vibrant .

" Leo , Hurry up !! Your missing a new episode of the Best anime ever . "

' Chuckling '

He remembered those days . That happiness . that mirage of colors that would always filled his life .

" You made this Leo !!! I'm so proud of you . " For the first time he smiled . No matter how much pain he felt . He smiled remembering that day . The day he had his first A.I and his father screamed with joy . Waltzing around the room with Leonardo in his arms in a catastrophic dance .

Did he fully understand what Leo had made , he believed not . It was simply the fact that he was the one that did it that made his father so happy . And that happiness was infectious .

He was 10 years old then .

" A hero has several good qualities Leo . But what I think is the best quality for a hero is his heart and spirit . "

He remembered that day . A day that had found them both relaxing free from their duties . Leonardo had started getting busy with his scientific practice on machine development and A.I integration into society .

He remembered that day . As they were both watching an episode from' Adventure time ' One of his father's most beloved shows . He remembered how fond he spoke those words and how they had stuck with him.

" The heart will always lead the hero on the correct path and the spirit will ensure he stays strong and never gives up . Always remember that Leo ." ' Yes dad ' He had responded in answer and forever memorized those words

And those words had truly struck . you could say it was mainly because of his father that he had helped the world as he had . That he wanted to help the people of the world . That despite his massive wealth he had ensured he would not let others suffer when he had the power and ability to do otherwise .Simply because it was the right thing to do .

The world had never stopped singing his praise and Leo had grown used to that .

But only he knew how weak he was . How fragile he felt . how hopeless it was for the person he cared for the most to be dying and be unable to do anything .

" Remember Leo . To the well organized mind , death is but the next great adventure . " His smile was ever wide . Even when he was dying . Even when he was taking his last breaths . That smile would forever persist

Leonardo had cried for the first time that day. He had completely broken don at the news . He had cried and cried and cried . But death was the only thing he could never beat . the only thing he had been unable to surpass and the only person who had understood him full was now experiencing this type of death .

" Don't cry Leo , you know this would happen eventually . Every one dies at some point . My time just came sooner than most but that's alright . I know you will be just fine without me " His father had lifted his weak hand at that point . rubbing away the tears from his face his smile persistent , strong . Showing no weakness at all .

" And you should get yourself some girlfriends . Hopefully someone like Marceline or maybe Bonnibel . Ohh what about Zelda or yes I got it !!! Koriand'r . You always liked them right . Strong women !! Don't worry , if you can't choose , why not try wooing all of the . HA HA HA ha ha ha ha ha ha !!! " He had laughed . They had both laughed . A small hope in a desperate situation . But that was all humans could truly do . Hope .

' Chuckle '

His laugh was like a vibrant wave that dispersed the sadness in the high class room . His laugh had even taken away the pain he felt . No matter how little .

His father had died not long after that . And Leonardo had felt empty . Like a sole entity on this huge globe , he felt like only he existed .

But , he had to continue walking forward . No matter how much he felt like just disappearing . No matter how much he felt like he was suffocating . His father had told him to never stop . To never give up . To never let the bad time destroy himself and he had healed . slowly but gradually .

" And remember Leo . Always be happy . Always enjoy this life . Always smile . even in your last breath , always make sure you are happy with the life you have lived . " His father smiled while saying this words . his final last smile . A beautiful smile that spoke of a story of hardship and struggle but still an unbreakable will

The most beautiful smile he had ever seen and it was on a dying man . Like a star on it's final glorious death before it went super nova in the most beautiful explosion . That was how that smile was to Leonardo . Nothing had been ever able to match it .

And that was why , even at this moment . While he was dying . While he was bleeding to death . While every next breath became more and more difficult to take . Leonardo was still smiling . A smile only he knew and understood .

He turned to look at the young lady he had saved . And he noticed her eyes never left him . A beautiful pink color that somehow caught his interest .

Was she shocked , or maybe she was just fearful of what had happened . Leonardo did not know . He had never been good with reading peoples emotions .

He noticed the woman next to the girl . How she fretted over her while wailing and checking all over her body .

He then noticed the Ambulance that had arrived quickly trying to clear a path to him .

He noticed the crowd that seemed to have recognized him and were going crazy making the situation worse than better .

[ BREAKING NEWS . WELL KNOWN GENIUS LEONARDO STORMBORN HAS SUFFERED A SEVERE CAR ACCIDENT BY BEING HIT BY A TRUCK . PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD . WE ARE WORRIED FOR HIS SURVIVAL . . . ]

He finally noticed a broadcasting news anchor . Their voice was hoarse but powerful

Leonardo noticed all of this things at once . All this colors, noises and people at a rate he had never been able to .

' Truck huuhhh ? You finally got me truck-kun . He he he '

Even at this moment , he found something to be happy about . because that was how he had been raised to be . Because he felt it was the right time for him . Because he did not fear death .

He eyes remained on the girl he had saved . Her eyes had never looked away from him . They had not wavered as they gazed at his dying body and Leonardo was also the same .

Leonardo felt the darkness start stalking him . The cold start to enclose on him and he knew it was time for him . The paramedics would not be able to save him .

He raised his arm . Bloodied and weak but he still managed to do so . He brought it to the girl's cheek ,gently and slowly . And for some odd reason , Leonard felt the world had gone silent . As if the world was waiting for his final words to forever remember .

" Always . . . be happy . Always . . . smile . Always . . . be glad . . . with the life . . . you have lived . "

He had seen the mask the girl put had broken for the first time . The flood gates of tears had opened . The cries had started and could not be stopped .

The girl had thrown herself in his arms . Trying to hug him but at the same time making sure she was not hurting him .

Leonardo had wrapped his arms around her . Trying to comfort her with the last of his strength but that was also quickly disappearing .

" What's . . . your . . . name ? " For some odd reason , he felt that he wanted to know . He felt like this girl was special in some way . He felt like there was something about those pink eyes that he was not seeing .

This had caught the girls attention and she quickly composed herself , rubbing away the tears from her eyes

She had said despite the tears that persisted from her . Despite the sadness the was in her and Leonardo smiled . His last smile for here and her alone . The most beautiful smile he could give .

" That's . . a . . . . . beautiful . . .name . " His strength was exhausted and his arm fell hitting the ground but despite this , he was still happy . He was still smiling .

It was finally his time . Time for him to also go for his next great adventure .

" AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!! "
