Chương 81: Necessarily Happy
"Natasha, I just want to say Thank you once again, for all of this" said Chloe as she smiled and she made a turn at the corner, she and Natasha were on their way back home.
"Chloe, I already said that there was no need to thank me" said Natasha as she smiled.
"But for the one hundredth time, you are welcome, and it was no bother to me at all" said Natasha as she smiled.
"I'm sorry" said Chloe as she laughed.
"I just do not want to sound ungrateful" she said as she laughed and she kept her eyes on the road.
"You do not need to worry about that at all" said Natasha as she smiled.
"I am more than sure that you are a grateful person" said Natasha as she turned to look at Chloe.
"Thank you Natasha" said Chloe as she smiled.
"That's alright, but when would you resume work??" asked Natasha.
"Ahhh well, I was thinking that it would be useless to start right now, since it is already almost the end of the week, so I decided that I would start on Monday, but tomorrow I would go to the farm to get familiar with me surroundings" said Chloe.
"Well that is no problem at all, it sounds good to me" said Natasha.
"So you will resume on Monday?" asked Natasha.
"Yes on Monday" said Chloe as she smiled.
"Alright then, just remind me to give you Mandy's number so you can contact her directly" said Natasha.
"Oh alright, I will do so when I get home" said Chloe as she smiled, the time was now 9:45 am, and if she knew her son, which she did, he liked to sleep in everyday, so he would only actually wake up and come down for breakfast at 10:15, which meant that she still some time before Ethan woke up.
"Speaking of Mandy..." said Chloe as her voice trailed off.
"Yes what about Mandy??" asked Natasha as she turned to look at Chloe.
"Well there is something about her that bothers me" said Chloe as she decided to speak up to avoid any future problems.
"What it is??" asked Natasha as she wondered what could have bothered Chloe.
"I don't mean to sound rude, or insensitive" said Chloe as she paused.
"No... no there is no problem at all, say what is on your mind, so we can see if we can fix it" said Natasha.
"Alright" said Chloe.
"Well I don't think that Mandy is necessarily happy about me being the new manager" said Chloe as she sighed.
"And I think that the way you announced to her that she would be demoted was not the best way, if I may say that" said Chloe as she was careful with her words, if she was the one that was suddenly told that her current position which she was still holding was suddenly taken from her overnight, she would have been furious too, which was why she did not blame Mandy for being mean to her at all.
"No, of course you can say that, we are friends after all" said Natasha.
"And I agree with you, you are right" said Natasha.
"The way that I spoke to her, and the way I told her about you taking her position was not nice at all" said Natasha as she just realized that she was a bit too harsh on Mandy.
"I guess I spoke that way to her out of annoyance for her past mistakes" said Natasha as she sighed.
"But regardless, I was wrong" said Natasha, now that she looked back, she was really cold back there to Mandy for no particular reason, no one deserved to be treated the way she had treated her this morning.
"I can understand where you are coming from" said Chloe.
"But I don't think that a woman would be ready to assist and support another woman how come out of nowhere to take her job away" said Chloe.
"Yes, you are right" said Natasha as she was scolding herself for being so harsh for no reason, Chloe was a very reasonable woman, she had already thought of everything.
"I am just saying this out of concern for the working relationship I will have with Mandy" said Chloe.
"We are going to be working together, and I am more than sure that we definitely got off on the amputated foot" said Chloe as she laughed, it was only normal human nature to see someone who took away your position as an enemy rather than a friend.
"Yes, you are right" said Natasha as she laughed.
"You are more than right Chloe, in fact you are correct" said Natasha.
"I will call Mandy later to apologize to her personally, the way in which I did things was wrong, I did not even notify her at all" said Natasha as she sighed, she had really done things without thinking.
"Yes, I am sure that would make her feel less angry" said Chloe as all she wanted to do was work, and not to have any problems at all.
"You are right" said Natasha.
"Thank you Chloe... for telling me the truth" said Natasha as she turned to look at Chloe as she smiled.
"You are welcome, I was also doing it for my own wellbeing" said Chloe as she laughed and Natasha laughed too, Chloe was a very honest person and she liked that.
"Maybe you should be the boss and not me" said Natasha as she joked.
"No, no of course not, being a manager is one thing, but being a boss is another thing entirely" said Chloe as she laughed.
"Besides I trust your judgment, you are a good boss, but we are only human, and we can make mistakes" said Chloe.
"Thank you" said Natasha as she smiled.
"No worries" said Chloe as she turned to look at Natasha briefly and she smiled at her as she turned back to look at the road.
"Excuse me for a moment" said Natasha as she brought out her phone as she remembered something very important.
"Alright" said Chloe as she smiled.
Natasha dialed a number on her phone, and it rang a few times before her call was picked.
"Yes Madam" came Alfred's voice from the other side of the line.
"Yes Alfred" said Natasha as she smiled.
"Do you need anything Madam??" asked Alfred as he waved some of the maids off to continue with their duties.
"Yes Alfred, In fact I do" said Natasha.
"Alright Madam" said Alfred.
"Alfred I need you to please do something for me" said Natasha.
"Just name it Madam, and I will do it" said Alfred as she smiled and Natasha smiled too.
...
"Gosh, why is this house so big??" asked Mason as he looked very tired and he looked at Amalia.
"Hmm, the reason for that is also the reason why you have a job, so stop being lazy" said Amalia as she laughed.
"Ouch, gosh my poor heart Amalia, I am not being lazy at all" said Mason as he laughed and Amalia shook her head at him as she arranged the couch in the living room in the North wing of the house.
"I know see that you are in a good mood now, unlike the last time, when you and Lexi were both so grouchy" said Mason as he laughed.
"Oh shut up Mason" said Amalia as she was annoyed, she wondered why she was paired up with Mason of all people, he was just too annoying sometimes, no scrap that, all the time.
"Oh well, but it is the truth after all, you both were acting like the world had collapsed" said Mason as he laughed.
"And you have a big mouth" said Amalia as she dusted the pillows.
"Hey hold up, are you even helping me at all???!!" said Amalia as she turned to look at Mason.
"Hey I am, can't you see my holding the feather duster??" asked Mason as he raised his hand that he was holding the feather duster in.
"Just because you are holding it, does not mean that you are using it" said Amalia as she face-palmed herself, she was paired with an extremely lazy person.
"It's the same thing" replied Mason leisurely and Amalia wanted to slap him right now.
"Hey guys" said Lexi as she walked into the room.
"Hey Lexi" said Amalia and Mason as they both turned to greet Lexi.
"Are you done with the guest room Lexi??" asked Amalia.
"Yes, I am, and what about you guys??" asked Lexi as she looked at Mason.
"Well no, this lazy man over here, is refusing to work" said Amalia as she shot daggers at Mason.
"Well what can I say??? Handsome men don't need to work" said Mason and Amalia scoffed as a beep on her and Mason's phone interrupted them both.
"Finally!!!" said Mason as he removed his phone from his pocket, and Amalia also checked her phone.
"We have been paid hehe" said Mason as he jubilated, and Amalia went quiet as she looked at Lexi who looked sad.
Amalia hit Mason in his side and he stopped dancing as he turned to look at Lexi.
"Oh yeah, right..." said Mason as he realized that he was being insensitive.
"It's fine guys...really it is" said Lexi as she smiled sadly.
"But..." said Amalia as she was interrupted by a beep on Lexi's phone.
Lexi checked her phone and once she saw the notification she jumped for joy, she was so happy that she began to cry.
"What is it Lexi??" asked Mason in concern.
"I... I.... I just got paid" said Lexi as she cried tears of Joy.
"I got paid!!" said Lexi as she still could not believe it.
"What really???" asked Mason in shock and Lexi nodded while she was still speechless.
"That's awesome" he said as he was truly happy for Lexi.
Amalia smiled, the Madam must have decided to pardon Lexi.
"Lexi, I am sure that the Madam allowed them to pay you" said Amalia as she smiled.
"Oh my, thank you, thank you, thank you" said Lexi as she was so excited.
"I need to see the Madam now, I need to see her" said Lexi very excitedly.
