"Are you sure my dear, because I've been hearing some rumours circulating about a divorce..." said Ernest as he whispered the word just in case some itchy ears were trying to listen in.
Dom immediately looked at Natasha unsure of what to say or do, of course it was nearly impossible to hide anything from Ernest, he knew about everything that was going on in the family.
"Look grandfather, I assure you that we are doing okay, we are better, and as for that, I don't think that this is the time or place to discuss something like this, so please just enjoy this evening of your hard work that has been passed down from generation to generation and it will continue to be." said Natasha softly as she held his hand and smiled.
"Oh alright dear, you are right, we should all enjoy the evening." said Ernest as he smiled and Dom nodded in relief, Natasha really evaded a bullet right there.
"Great, now we should go greet uncle and aunt as well, I will see you later grandfather." said Natasha as she smiled and let go of his hand before taking a step back.
"Alright my dear, see you both later and enjoy the evening." said Ernest as he smiled and as soon as Natasha and Dom were about to leave a young paparazzi stopped in front of them his camera flashing as he took several pictures.
"We should not allow him take bad pictures of us." she quickly whispered to Dom as he subtly nodded and they both plastered smiles on their faces as they stood together.
"Thanks for the photo, how about one with pops over there?" asked the man as he pointed to Ernest who stepped forward.
"Sure why not?" asked Ernest as he cut in between Natasha and Dom as Natasha held his hand and smiled while he smiled and Dom gave a slight smile.
"Thanks for that, this is going to go on the front page of the magazine tomorrow." declared the man happily as he disappeared into the crowd.
"There are sharks everywhere." said Ernest as he shook his head.
"They might be, but the publicity it good and well needed for the company." replied Dom as Ernest gave him a pat on the back before he and Natasha left.
"There are too many reporters here, I thought that Lulu would try to minimise that." said Dom as he sighed and waved to his secretary who was speaking to her colleagues in the crowd.
"This is a public event, they would want to be here, I'm sure she had no choice than to allow a vast majority of them." said Natasha as she smiled hearing the sound of camera clicks and flashes.
"That's unfortunate though, all eyes are on us." said Dom as he sighed.
"I don't think that's a huge issue, so as long as we don't give them a reason to be suspicious." she replied as she moved closer to him as they approached his parents.
She hooked her arm with his as Dom was caught off guard and tried his best not to be surprised with this unfamiliar closeness and warmness.
He wanted to whisper something to Natasha, but he saw her already smiling as his parents noticed them already and Natasha did not seem to be the slightest bit uncomfortable with them being this close.
"Aunt, it's so good to see you." she said as she let go of Dom's arm to give Margaret a warm hug that was reciprocated.
"Natasha, it's so good to see you as well, you look very lovely this evening my dear." said Margaret as she smiled.
"And so do you Aunt, how are you?" asked Natasha as she broke their hug while Dom greeted his father. Natasha was not lying when she said that she liked Margaret's dress it was a light shade of pink that was elegant and yet youthful looking.
"I am well my dear and how are you?" she asked as she smiled.
"I am good too, hello uncle." said Natasha as she gave Ernest Jr a hug with a bright smile.
"Hello Natasha, how are you?" he asked as he smiled.
"Good uncle, and how are you?" she asked.
"I am well, it is nice to see you, you look stunning." he said with a smile as she broke their hug and she smiled.
"Thank you uncle, you look good as well." said Natasha as she smiled.
"Hello mom, you look really beautiful tonight." said Dom as he hugged his mom and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Thank you, and you look rather... wonderfully strange today..." she said as she chuckled and Dom frowned.
"Not you too mom, I've had enough people commenting on my style today." said Dom as he whined like a child.
"Don't worry Dominic, I won't, you look very dashing my lovely son." said Margaret as she patted his right cheek and he smiled.
"That's better." said Dom as Margaret laughed.
"Don't lie to him aunt, we all know the truth, he looks ridiculous." said Natasha as Ernest Jr snickered, he took one look at the suit and he already knew the history behind it. It was probably one of Charlie's extravagant suits, the problem here was that Charlie was well suited to wear such ridiculous, bold colours and get away with it, but Dom, not to much, he looked like a fish out of water, or in this case a banana freshly fallen from a tree.
"Oh be easy on him Natasha he wears nice suits everyday, he should at least get to wear something creative once in a while." said Margaret as she defended her son.
"Of course, of course, I agree with you Aunt, I totally do, my only concern is that I arrived him with, he's free to dress like this whenever he wants, just so as long as I don't accompany him." said Natasha as she laughed and Ernest Jr laughed as well.
He had to agree with her, even though Dom was his son he wouldn't want to be seen with him like that in public.
"Ha, ha, ha anyway, enough about my suit, don't we have something else more important to talk about?" he asked as he was tired of being the butt of the joke, it was tiring and very annoying.
"Where is my lovely granddaughter, Lulu told me that she has been boasting of her lovely dress that you two bought for her." said Margaret as she laughed.
"Ahh yes, well she's with Lulu right now at the indoor playground, but they should be here soon." said Natasha as smiled and heard more camera clicks and saw more flashes in the corner of her eye.
"Well alright then, and have you spoken to father yet?" she asked.
"Yes we have, we just spoke to him not to long ago before we came to you." said Natasha as she smiled.
"And how are you two?" asked Margaret in worry.
"We are fine aunt." replied Natasha as she smiled.
"Are you sure?" asked Margaret as Natasha nodded happily.
"And the fact that you have to keep up appearances right now, isn't it uncomfortable?" asked Ernest Jr.
"Not at all uncle, we know that we need to do what needs to be done and to keep the family image, it's not a big deal." said Natasha as she smiled.
"I am still part of this family and whatever affects the family affects us all, and in order to avoid bad publicity we need to keep up appearances at this very special event." replied Natasha.
"Are you sure that's a good idea?" asked Ernest Jr as Margaret nodded agreeing with him.
"Dad, we are perfectly fine, we are two grown adults and we are in a better place to be civil right now." said Dom.
"What about the 'you know what'" said Margaret referring to the divorce.
"It's not going to happen now, we're still family. When the time comes it will be done, but for now in the eyes of the public we are still legally married and I am the second largest shareholder in the company so of course I have to be here, if I wasn't it would spark debate and gossip, which will cause people to start prying into our personal lives and we don't need that." said Natasha as Ernest Jr nodded agreeing with what she said.
"In the eyes of the public we are a loving couple with a wonderful daughter and that is what we will be tonight." she said as she smiled.
"I admire your courage Natasha really... thank you." said Margaret as she smiled.
"You don't have to thank me Aunt, I know how to prioritize well." she replied as she smiled while the crowd bustled more and more.
"This place is getting really full by the moment." said Dom as he looked around surprised.
"I wonder how many people your sister invited." said Ernest Jr as Margaret laughed.
"Lulu invited no less than a thousand people." she revealed while laughed as the others were completely shocked.
