As we approached the grand entrance of the theatre, the anticipation in the air was palpable. The festival decorations adorned the streets, and the vibrant colors seemed to come alive in the flickering torchlight. The scent of roasting meats and the distant hum of lively chatter created an atmosphere of celebration.
Rose and I found our seats, the wooden benches surprisingly comfortable. The stage was set with intricate backdrops, and the actors were already preparing for the performance. The play a reenactment of the troublesome times of Roberts Rebellions where some villages lost most of their young men.
The play commenced shortly after the Starks arrived and found their seats near the back, I took glances towards them and saw what I would assume to be Robb, Sansa, Arya and the infamous Jon Snow. Looking back towards the play, I felt Rose's grip tighten on my arm once again. Taking a glance at her, I saw a small smile on her face as she snuggled on my arm. The play went on for the day until we reached the climax, the sacking of kings landing. The death of my fathers previous friend was also shown but less gruesome than what he himself described.
The play suddenly stopped, " Gentleman, Gentleman. The play is to be put on hold as a break shall be commence. But fret not as the play shall resume in a few minutes, so why don't you relax and have a refreshment that shall be brought in. "
The man then left the stage and people with cups and jugs came in, bringing in what I assume to be beer. I refused as I would leave it until this evening, Rose also refused stating she was not a fan of alcohol.
" How'd you find the play so far Rose?" I turned towards her causing her to look up and smiled.
"It's good, I like the history. After all you can learn quite a lot. Don't you think so? "
"Indeed, you can learn quite a lot from one's history. "
Hearing this she nodded before snuggling back into my arm, " Wake me up when it starts again, Alek. "
"Of course. " I spoke leaning my head onto hers.
Taking glances around the room, I saw that the Starks were chatting among themselves, with Eddard pointing things out to the children. To which they listened attentively.
' To think this world will go to shit in about seven years. ' Shaking my head I decided to put my attention back on the stage as they started setting up the scene, shaking Rose. She slowly opened her eyes.
"I'm awake, stop shaking me. " She yawned
Hearing that, I stared back ahead of me and saw the actors getting into position. They were good actors if I had to say so myself, even if some of it was biased. The movement, the fluidity of words. The passion, If they were in Hollywood maybe they would of hit it big, but they're not.
The play showed the betrayal of Jaime against the mad king and Robert pardoning him, the play ended with the people applauding and the actors giving a bow, before exiting the stage with a bounce in their step.
Taking a look at Rose, she stared back at me with a smile and stood up alongside me. Sending a quick glance at the Starks, I saw Eddard stare back at me, after all I was the first person alongside Rose to leave the theatre, and I wouldn't be surprised if he heard of my feats. Maybe he will wish to speak to me but I hope not. It would simply be too troublesome, after all the world of politics and nobility uninterest me as it is a game of backstabbing and paranoia. Something I don't want to fall upon me and those close to me.
The sun was setting, seeing this I decided I should go help Finn, " Rose, are you headed home or will you go the Tavern to speak with Kate? "
"I'll head to the tavern and wait for you. " She smiled a me as we walked on the stone pavement heading to the tavern which was nearby. Walking inside Rose let go of my hand and walked to Kate. Seeing this I left and headed to the butchers. It was nearby, so it wouldn't be a long trek something I was glad about.
Many of the buildings were being renovated with signs being painted different colours, and decorations were being hung for the celebration. Tables on and chairs were also starting to be brought out to the main street. The streets were filled with commotion, and loud children excited. I stood outside the butchers door, sighing I entered, " Ah, Aleksi you're finally here. Help me take this deer to the tavern will you. There's at least 4 deer's so we'll need to make two trips and my father will bring the rest later. " Finn stared at me as he picked up a deer carcass placing it over his shoulder with ease.
Walking to the deer carcass, I grabbed it placing it over my shoulder. Making my shoulder instantly feel heavier, " Fuck, which scary bastard hunted this thing. "
"Some bloke named..." He suddenly paused, " His name was Hendrik, I think. You probably saw him before as you're father smashed him in that tavern brawl. Bastard couldn't hunt for a few days." Finn let out a hearty laugh.
Exiting the butchers we made our way up the main street, some onlookers looked at us. After all we were tall lads, Finn stood at 6'4, while I was only around two inches below him and were still growing, It wouldn't be surprising if Finn turned out similar to 'The Mountain', just not as deranged.
The calm breeze was starting to slightly picking up. Entering the tavern, many stared but turned back to the original behavior.
"Where we putting this Finn? "
"Just drop it by Kate. "
Hearing him I nodded and we both walked to the bar counter, Kate stared at us for a moment but continued her talk with Rose, who was having a cup of orange juice. Placing the deer down, me and Finn headed back to go grab the other half.
