Chương 2: War

God has fallen.

His death brought about one thought to all his subjects.

War-

War was about to unfold.

It was arriving.

And it was going to be The War To End All Wars.

The Final and The Greatest One.

An army numbering in the millions composed of monsters like that of High orcs, ice elves, giants looked up, waiting.

Waiting for something to happen... until that something came down the sky.

From the heavens.

Portals of pure white light appeared from the purple sky. Its enormous size was enough to engulf cities in one swoop.

At this time, the portals began having cracks within them as it broke apart. Revealing an army of soldiers wearing white plated armor. Each one of them wore armor a differently designed armor and each wielded different weapons.

But one similarity was seen in all of them. Two pairs of beautiful white angelic like wings were on their backs as they gazed down to the army below them.

It was the Rulers' Army.

When one of them sounded a silver horn.

The War began.

The two sides fought as the land was filled with corpses and blood. One notable thing was the winning side. The angelic army was clearly less than that of the monsters yet they completely dominated the battlefield.

It was an overwhelming victory for the Rulers.

That is until he arrived-

War was the place of birth for many of the most notable figures of the universe.

Monarchs, Rulers.

The two of them from the moment they were born waged war against one another.

One trying to preserve the universe.

The other trying to destroy it.

Yet one of them was known to have betrayed his own people and joined the other side.

Arriving at the battlefield was a shadowed figure with a purple aura riding a horse.

He was Ashborn. Born as a ruler but lived as a Monarch. The Shadow Monarch.

He was a huge, muscular shadow with glowing flame-like purple hair, glowing purple eyes, two curved black horns, and sharp claws. He also wore jet-black armor and a long smoky black cloak, and wielded a pure black sword.

Throughout the battlefield, one word would bring terror and fear to all.

"Arise."

His voice low yet powerful. Every single being here could feel the unfathomable strength behind this simple word. The dead began convulsing as they rose once more to greet their new master.

They turned their power to the ones who killed them as the once one sided-battle now turned to the other side. Wherever he went, his sword would cleave through the Ruler's Army. Soon enough, the battle was finished with him being the victor.

This single entity managed to turn the side of the battle. That was how powerful he was.

Powerful individuals were seen as a beings that one could only look on with admiration.

But power could also turn peoples perception to them into fear and jealousy. These emotions would soon turn into thoughts and afterwards, action would be taken.

Turning around, Ashborn witnessed new portals opening as two armies had arrived. The army of beast formed and led by the Beast Monarch. His army was formed by multiple races like Lizardmen, Ferocious Bears and more.

The King of Beasts was in the form of a giant white wolf with ferocious teeth as an oppressing aura oozed out of him.

Next to him was another Monarch. The Monarch of White Flames, Demon King Baran.

Baran was a huge, muscular demon with gray skin, glowing white eyes, glowing flame-like white hair, a long tail, and four horns on his head, two of which were very long and curved. He also wore an elaborate gray helmet and pale yellow armor on his shoulders.

With his army of demons that was united by many demon clans, he pointed his sword to his opponent, the Shadow Monarch.

"Come." Ashborn said calmly.

The three armies engaged into battle. The Shadow Army wasn't as many as that of the two armies combined but made it up with their regeneration. Though the two Monarchs were powerful, they had underestimated Ashborn.

Even with the fight against the Ruler's Army, he had more than enough power to fight both of them. The three ignored their armies as they attacked. Their attacks filled with magic sent waves of mana that disrupted their armies fights.

The two Monarchs launched their attacks at Ashborn yet none managed to get through. Blocked by his sword. Breaking the launch of attacks, he sliced his through Baran's chest as a huge gash appeared on him making it bleed.

"UGH!" The White Flames Monarch grunted as he felt the pain.

But using this opening, the Beast Monarch attacked him behind as he swiped his claws at him. Ashborn didn't even bother giving him a glance as he gazed down at the Demon.

"Why?" He said coldly.

As the claws were nearing, something got in the way.

*Clang!*

It was someone. The most powerful Shadow and the most loyal one of the army, Bellion. And he had diverted the blows to miss Ashborn.

"I shall take care of him, my liege." He said and dashed to the Beast.

Looking back, Ashborn nodded but Baran who saw this thrusted his spear at him only to be crushed by a massive blue hand. It was the skill Ruler's authority.

"Tell me. Why did you betray me?" Baran still didn't answer as he yelled out with all his might. Lightning came out of his mouth as it razed everything it touched breaking the skill that bound him.

The blast was nearing yet Ashborn didn't move. He simply covered himself with his cape, negating the powerful breath attack as if it was nothing. That powerful breath attack which destroyed the very land they were on was cancelled out so easily.

Even a Monarch's powerful attack was nothing in his eyes. "You still won't answer."

Seeing his attack negated, the once mighty Monarch began feeling nervous as he unconsciously took steps back. This was absolute power. There was no skill involved. He was just that strong.

This was the reason for their ambush yet it had failed. They had severely underestimated him as he himself wasn't even trying. Though his army was falling, it didn't mean that the Shadow Monarch was any weaker.

In fact, it looked like he was taking a stroll. The only thing that seemed to affect him was the betrayal.

Gathering mana in his hands, he threw a strike at the demon sending him flying through the battlefield. His strike so grand that the other Monarch who saw this was frightened.

He knew that if he caught the attention of this being than his head would fly off. He slashed the air making a red portal appear and walked through it not looking back.

Bellion who was recovering from the blows clicked his tongue. Turning his attention towards his master, he found him walking towards the Demon King.

Baran had his back to the wall and held no strength in his body. The injuries he took were far too much for him. His chest had a huge gash that cut through his armor and a hole could be seen on his stomach.

He coughed out purple blood and looked at his injuries. He knew it, this was the end for him. His injuries were far too severe and life-threatening.

"We could of ended the fighting today. So why have you chosen to betray me?" Looking in front of him was Ashborn walking towards him with an aura of nobility.

For the first time since arriving, Baran talked. "What a waste. I could of ended you."

Saying this with a smirk even though he was covered in his own blood.

"I asked why." Anger was in his voice.

"Hahaha.. wingdings." He laughed mockingly. "Wingdings."

Ashborn used his authority to lift him up and grasped him by the head.

This was it. The end for him. His people killed. He was afraid of him yet when dying, he oddly felt calm. No fear. Just pure freedom. He wasn't afraid of anything.

Because even though all demons were killed and are going to be killed by Ashborn later on. He made sure that it won't happen.

Nobody knew this. Only he did, a secret that he had held to himself for no one to know.

An heir. A child.

His child.

Before going to war, his one and only child had been born. It was too late to back up now. To him, it felt wrong. Leaving his own flesh and blood when he was about to go to war. He had never felt like this in all of the millennia he had lived.

But he knew he had to make the hard decisions. Knowing that if the attack failed on the Shadow Monarch, he had made a secret plan. To hide away his child from everyone's eyes.

He had sealed his son in an Amber Stone within a portal so that no one could find him. This was a special seal that would be hard to find its location. Not even the rulers could nor could Ashborn.

But before leaving, he had bestowed his first and last gift to his son.

"Your name... shall be Dante."

Baran could see it. He could feel it. This, was his death. The reaper that had come to collect his soul. 'I leave everything to you.' His eyes glowing white for a moment before dimming.

Smiling, with all his strength, one last word was said by him before- "Wingdings." His neck was crushed by Ashborn, killing him.

The once vibrant flames that danced on his head... was now extinguished, forever.

That day was known for two reasons. The death of the Monarch of White Flames and the hiding of the Shadow Monarch after he encountered the Rulers.

But all shall soon come to know, the rise of a new individual. One that not even the Rulers with their Cup of Reincarnation had expected.

A new being would bring terror upon worlds as the memories and knowledge of his latest father transferred to him.

[To see a world in a grain of sand,

And a heaven in a wild flower,

Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,

And eternity in an hour.]
