"Wake up, Charmander. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
Noticing that Charmander had regained consciousness, Tyson asked gently.
Charmander shook its head but looked up at Tyson with a guilty expression, clearly blaming itself for the recent battle's loss.
"Don't be so hard on yourself," Tyson reassured, stroking Charmander's head. "Your performance was already great! It was my poor strategy at the start that gave the opponent an advantage."
"Don't dwell on it. What matters now is that we train harder. You'll improve your strength and master your skills, while I'll work on sharpening my command abilities. Together, we'll get stronger and claim victory next time!"
Hearing Tyson's encouragement, Charmander's fiery tail flickered brighter with renewed determination.
"Char!"
"Good! That's the spirit! Let's get back to training!" Tyson exclaimed, his own energy bolstered by Charmander's resolve.
The training resumed with a focus on improving the Ember attack. Tyson understood that mastering this move would be critical for future battles, especially against agile opponents like Zubat. Though he hadn't yet found an advanced method to boost Charmander's training, Tyson stayed beside his partner, strengthening their bond through shared effort.
Just as Tyson was engrossed in watching Charmander's practice, a sudden chime sounded in his mind:
Ding! Mission Three Completed!
Opening the system interface, Tyson noticed his mission points had increased to twenty. From the system's criteria, it seemed Charmander's strength had advanced by one level after their recent training and battles.
Tyson realized just how challenging it was to strengthen a Pokémon. Charmander had spent nearly ten days progressing one level, even though it was still at the beginner stage where improvement typically came quicker. He understood that breaking through to the Great Level would take at least three months with consistent effort.
Tyson couldn't help but marvel at the advantage the system provided. He began to appreciate the value of mission points even more.
A little later, Shadow returned and casually tossed Tyson a tablet.
"This has a collection of battle videos," Shadow said flatly before walking away.
The videos featured various types of trainer battles, ranging from formal matches to chaotic skirmishes where Pokémon directly attacked trainers. Tyson realized that while the structured battles adhered to League rules, real-life conflicts often demanded improvisation and adaptability.
Sitting at a safe distance from Charmander, who was still training its Ember attack, Tyson immersed himself in the videos. He was determined to absorb as much knowledge as possible to improve his tactics.
Meanwhile, Charmander's progress with Ember was remarkable. Its innate talent as a Fire-type Pokémon, combined with its drive to grow stronger, allowed it to improve rapidly. The earlier battle had ignited its fighting spirit.
Not long after, the system chimed again.

Checking the system panel, Tyson saw his points had increased to thirty, and new tasks were available:
Mission 1: Train Charmander to increase its strength by one level. Reward: 15 mission points.
Mission 2: Train Charmander to increase its strength by two levels. Reward: 30 mission points.
Mission 3: Train Charmander to increase its strength by four levels. Reward: 50 mission points.
Mission 4: Train two of Charmander's skills to intermediate proficiency. Reward: 10 mission points. (Progress: 1/2)
Mission 5: Train three of Charmander's skills to intermediate proficiency. Reward: 25 mission points. (Progress: 1/3)
Tyson was pleased with the system's clarity in defining goals. It allowed him to plan effectively and prioritize training objectives.
Tyson decided not to rush Charmander's growth. Rapid strength increases without sufficient mastery would hinder Charmander's ability to control its power. Instead, Tyson opted to gradually improve Charmander's abilities, ensuring steady progress.
Spending five mission points, Tyson helped Charmander advance one level, completing Mission 1 and earning 15 more points, bringing his total to 40.
For the next ten days, Tyson and Charmander dedicated themselves to rigorous training. Mornings were spent honing Charmander's skills, afternoons involved studying under Shadow, and evenings were reserved for analyzing battle videos.
During this time, Charmander independently raised its Growl proficiency to intermediate, earning Tyson an additional 10 mission points. Impressed, Tyson invested points to further increase Charmander's strength, completing most of the system's missions.
By the end of the ten days, Charmander's power had noticeably grown, and it had mastered several key skills.
"Great work, Charmander," Tyson said, stroking its head after their last training session. "Take a good rest tonight. Tomorrow, we'll show Shadow just how much we've improved."
Charmander's tail flame flared brightly in response, reflecting its excitement and readiness for the challenges ahead.
The duo had come a long way in just ten days. Tyson couldn't wait to see how their hard work would measure up against Shadow's expertise.
