Chương 14: The Great Morning.
The Great Morning.
A sharp, cold spear of the light hurtled toward Ren, and everything is frozen. A pain surged through his abdomen as if reality itself had unravelled. His vision blurred, and darkness consumed him.
Suddenly, the deafening sound of an alarm clock shatter the silence. Ren woke up in his bed, drenched in sweat. The familiar glow of morning sunlight poured into his room through window.
"What is the scary dream?" he muttered, holding his pounding heart.
The dream – or was it a dream? – Still lingered vividly. A strange, and with black feather wings, glowing with an ominous aura, he had chased him. Both of them had wing, he realized. But how?
Shaking his head, Ren forced himself to focus. "It had to be a dream. Too real, through… way too real."
Yesterday had been an ordinary day—or so he thought. He went to school, spent his time in school and after school he stopped by a café for snakes. Yet, as he tried to Rember coming home, his mind drew a blank.
When he thinks about asking this to system, then suddenly he realized something very odd.
"I'm… Naked?" he whispers, bewildered. He never slept naked. The sheet was soft against his bare skin, but the realization sent a chill down his spine.
"...Mmm, suu~ suu..."
Ren turned slowly and saw, a girl with crimson hair lay beside him, her flawless, snow- like skin glowing in the morning light. She was also naked and her body is stick by his body she hugged his body like Ren is doll, and her hair spilling over the pillow like molten fire.
When he saw a girl sleep naked while hugging him and he also naked, his heart practically stopped. And a name come in his mind "Ruby Crimson," the girl who saved him in dream.
Then he something realized, "Wait, if she is here…... that mean yesterday night is not dream….!"
The panic set in.
"What the hell? What's happening? And top of that why she hugging him in sleep and in this state!" Ren whisper, trying to calm his racing thoughts. He squeezed his eyes shut and counted prime numbers.
"Two, Three, Five, Seven…!"
Nothing helped. His mind was whirlwind of questions. He glanced at the girl again.
"Ruby— senpai?" he stammered.
The crimson haired beauty stirred, her eyes fluttering open. "OH! Good- Morning, Ren," she said softly, her voice still heavy with sleep.
Ren barely had a time to react before the sound of footsteps echoed from downstairs.
"Ren! Wake up!" it's already time for school! his mom voice called.
His panic multiply.
"Wait! I'll be coming!" he yelled, scrambling to cover himself with the blanket.
But it was too late. The door burst open, revelling his mother, Reina, standing in the doorway. Her eyes locked onto Ren, then shifted to Ruby, who was now wake up and both bodies covered by single bedsheet, Ruby smiling sincerely despised being her condition.
Reina's face turned pale before flushing in bright red.
"G- GET READY QUICKLY!" she shouted, and slamming the door shut.
Downstair, Ren could hear the commotions as Reina tried to explain the situation to his aunt Amaya.
"Big sis, what's wrong?" Amaya asked, confused when she looks Reina's face.
"He—he brought home a foreign girl! And –!" Reina couldn't finish her sentence.
Ren covered his face with both hands.
"Huh! This is too much…" he gowned.
As the chaos downstairs continues, Ruby rose from the bed with unhurried grace.
Ren's heart raced as Ruby stood confidently in front of him naked, her crimson hair cascading down her bare shoulder. Her flawless, snow- white skin glowed softly in the morning light filtering through his bedroom window. She began picking up her uniform from his desk, completely unbothered by his wide- eyes, and panicked expression.
"R- Ruby senpai," Ren stammered, his voice barely above a whisper, his face burning red as he struggled to avert his eyes.
"What is it Ren?" she asked casually. A teasing smile playing on her lips.
"I- I can see everything!" Ren blurted out, but he not turning his head away. His mind was in turmoil. Why was this happening? Why was she so calm about showing her body?
"If you want to see, you can go ahead," she replied with a little smirk, her tone is daring and confident.
Her words sent a jolt of electricity through Ren's body. His mind reeled. Is she teasing me? He looks toward her, while she was slowly slipping her arms into her blouse, her movement slow and deliberate as if she were enjoying his discomfort.
"N- no that's not – I mean, you are – you shouldn't –?" Ren fumbled over his words, feeling more fluster by the situation.
Ruby chuckled softly, clearly amused by his reaction. "Relax. Ren. It's not like we can't sleep naked while hugging each other in night. So, that's not matter."
Her words made him freeze. The memories of the previous evening flooded back. The black- winged attacked, the sharp pain of the spear, and then waking up to Ruby… embracing each other… while naked. His face turned red when he thinks about last thing, but suddenly he said. "B- But last night was…!" Ren tried to for, a coherent sentence, but his nervousness got the better of him.
"Last night, I saved your life gain" she said, fastening the last button of her shirt. She turned to face him, with mischievous glint in his eyes, "and who I will let you die my dear servant."
"Sevent?" you forget previous weekend, when you tried to become brave and got killed. That day I reincarnated and make you and your little friend Isumi into devi.
When he heard he not shocked because he knows this thing by help of system but he not tells her about "THE SYTEM." So, act to surprised, then Ruby who watched his action and expression of surprise with smile she said, "Yes, you are not more a human but now you become a devil."
Ren act like he tries to digest this information and the he said "So, I am now your servant." Ruby looked him and said "Yes you're now my servant but also my friend." But strangely Ruby asked "can you any chance regrated to become devil?"
He digests this thing then little bowed and said with genuine gratitude "I am very grateful to you for saved my life! And I don't regret to become devil."
She nodded in satiation.
Once she dressed in her dress completely in her school uniform, she tuned to him with smile. "Come on, Ren. Let's go downstair. Your mom an daunt are waiting for us."
Ren gulped. "They're going to kill me…"
As they both descended the stairs, the aroma of breakfast filled the air. At the dining table, Ren's mother, Reina and his aunt, Amaya, were seated, their conversation halting abruptly as their eyes fell on Ruby and Ren entering together.
Reina's brow furrowed again; Amaya's smile froze. They exchanged a quick glance, then turned their attention back to the unusual sight.
"Good- Morning, Ren." Reina said, her tone is sharp, "And. who might this be?"
Amaya forced a polite smile, through her eyes held a curious glint. "Oh, Ren, you didn't tell us you had a such beautiful friend staying over." Her emphasis on the word friend made Ren's stomach churn.
Ruby, unfazed, stepped forward gracefully. "Good morning. My name is Ruby," she said with a charming smile. "TRen and I are… very good friends."
Ren blinked at her; she minds is racing. "Friends? We were strangers just yesterday! Now we are friends? Like I don't mind to be friend by her especially I want more but this is too sudden and embarrassing! But her thought is stopped by Amaya questions, "Friends, huh?" she said with sly smile.
Ren quickly nodded his head and said "Yes, Aunt we are friends."
Reina raised an eyebrow, her arms crossed. "Ren, care to explain who is this… your friend ended up here in night and in your bedroom?"
Ren swallowed hard, feeling the wight if their stare. He gulped and understand "W- we are just friends! And yesterday we both study late night so she stays here!" he said quickly. "There's no misunderstanding here!"
Ruby smirked, clearly enjoying his discomfort. "No misunderstanding at all," she added, her voice light and teasing.
Ren shot her a panicked look. She's making it worse!
"Hmm, I see" Amaya said, her tone is dripping with suspicion. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Ruby."
"It's a pleasure to meet you too," Ruby replied smoothly.
As they sat down for a breakfast, the tension was palpable. Ren could feel Reina and Amaya's eyes on him and Ruby the entire time. His mind was racing. They are definitely misunderstanding! This is so bad!
Ruby leaned closer to him; her voice low enough for only him to hear. "Relax, Ren. I'll take care of it."
"What do you mean?" Ren whispered back, confused.
"I'll erase their memories," Ruby said normally, taking a sip of her tea.
Ren's eyes widened. "Y- You can do that?"
Ruby smirked. "Of course. It's easy."
Ren stared at her disbelief. "That's not normal at all!"
"It's better than explaining everything. Don't you think?" Ruby replied with a playful wink.
After breakfast, Ruby excused herself, thanking Reina and Amaya for their hospitality. She and Ren stepped outside, the morning sun shining brightly.
"So, about the memory thing…" Ren asked her.
"Already done," Ruby said with a grin.
Ren's jaw dropped. "You erased their memories just like that?"
Ruby shrugged. "It's a simple spell. They'll only Remember we have breakfast and that's it. They not remember anything suspicious about us."
Ren sighed, rubbing his temples. "You are really unbelievable…"
Ruby laughed lightly, and said "Let's go school otherwise we late."
He nodded and both start walked but when both walked few steps both hear a melodic voice who call "Ren."
