Chương 9: Refurbishing

Raven sat cross-legged in the common room, still fuming over Alina's relentless teasing about the agency's run-down state. The cracks in the walls, the peeling paint, and the overall musty scent didn't exactly exude "professional assassin organization." He couldn't disagree with her, though—his surroundings were a far cry from the grandeur he imagined when the system first introduced itself.

"System," he muttered.

A soft DING rang in his head, followed by the familiar monotone voice.

Welcome back, Leader Raven Hale. Moonlit Coins Available: 2,340. Would you like to access the Agency Interface?

"Yes," Raven confirmed, watching as a holographic menu materialized before him. The words "Agency Interface" glowed faintly, with options branching out beneath it.

Facilities Upgrade

Room Customization

New Additions

Special Features

Raven clicked on Facilities Upgrade, and a detailed blueprint of the agency appeared in shimmering blue light. Every room, hallway, and structure was outlined, with labels highlighting their current states:

Medical Ward (Dilapidated)

Residences (Outdated)

Training Area (Barebones)

Common Room (Neglected)

"Neglected? Barebones? Really?" Raven muttered, rubbing his temples. Alina's earlier laughter echoed in his memory, further fueling his resolve.

He tapped on the Medical Ward first. A series of customization options unfurled before him:

Basic Medical Facility: 500 MC

Advanced Medical Facility: 1,200 MC

Elite Healing Center: 2,000 MC

Raven eyed the descriptions and costs. For now, the Advanced Medical Facility seemed like the best choice—efficient but not excessive. With a tap of confirmation, the room's section on the blueprint glowed brighter, and a timer appeared.

Estimated Refurbishment: Immediate. Processing...

The building itself responded instantly. Through the open door to the ward, Raven saw a brilliant flash of blue light, illuminating the walls and ceilings. When the glow subsided, what was once a decrepit space now gleamed with pristine white tiles, state-of-the-art equipment, and fully stocked supplies. The air even smelled faintly of antiseptic, as though the room had been scrubbed spotless.

"Impressive," Raven admitted, a hint of a smile tugging at his lips.

Alina strolled in, arms crossed. "Are you finally doing something about this wreck?" she teased, though her eyes widened slightly as she glanced toward the revamped medical ward. "Huh. That's... not bad."

Raven ignored her and moved on to the Residences.

The system offered several upgrades for the living quarters:

Basic Renovation: 400 MC per room

Comfortable Lodging: 800 MC per room

Luxury Suites: 1,500 MC per room

He opted for Comfortable Lodging, selecting all the currently available rooms. The total cost—3,200 MC—made him wince slightly, but the investment was necessary. A flick of his finger confirmed the upgrade, and once again, the blueprint glowed.

Through the walls, he could hear a soft hum as the rooms transformed. When he peeked inside, he found each residence had been completely overhauled: fresh bedding, polished wooden furniture, ambient lighting, and even personal storage compartments. The musty smell was gone, replaced by a subtle, calming fragrance.

Alina poked her head into one of the rooms, her expression shifting to one of approval. "Okay, now we're talking. But if my room doesn't have a decent bed, I'm out of here."

"You don't even have a room yet," Raven shot back.

"Fix that," she quipped, leaning against the wall with a smirk.

Raven sighed and returned to the blueprint. With a few swipes, he added a new room specifically for Alina, selecting Comfortable Lodging once more. Another 800 MC vanished, and the system worked its magic.

"Done. Happy now?"

Alina didn't answer right away. She wandered into her newly created room, testing the bed with a deliberate flop onto it. The springs didn't squeak, and the mattress conformed perfectly. "You might just be redeeming yourself, Leader."

Raven rolled his eyes and moved on to the Training Area. This space, perhaps more than any other, needed significant attention. He selected the Facilities Upgrade tab and scrolled through the options:

Basic Training Grounds: 600 MC

Combat Simulation Chamber: 1,500 MC

Elite Training Facility: 3,000 MC

Raven's eyes lit up at the description for the Combat Simulation Chamber, which offered a customizable environment to train in real-time scenarios. Without hesitation, he selected it.

Blue light flooded the empty training area, and within moments, the barren space transformed. Advanced holographic projectors lined the walls, while racks of training equipment appeared in neat rows. The system added combat dummies, agility courses, and even a feature to simulate opponents of various skill levels.

"Now this," Raven murmured, "is what I'm talking about."

He stepped inside, testing one of the holographic dummies. With a simple command, it activated, lunging toward him with calculated precision. Raven dodged and countered instinctively, though the dummy's speed forced him to break a sweat.

Alina appeared at the entrance, watching him with mild amusement. "Not bad, old man. Maybe you'll keep up with me after all."

Raven turned off the simulation with a swipe and smirked at her. "I'll remind you who's in charge soon enough."

Finally, Raven returned to the Common Room. Though it wasn't critical, he couldn't leave it in its current state. He selected Basic Renovation for 500 MC, which added simple yet functional furniture, cleaned the walls, and brightened the space with better lighting.

When the process finished, Raven stepped back to admire his work. The agency still had a long way to go, but this was a solid start.

"System, display balance," Raven said.

Moonlit Coins Remaining: 540.

Raven sighed. It was a small amount, but with the upgrades completed, the agency now looked like a proper base of operations.

Alina lounged on one of the new chairs in the common room, her feet propped up on the table. "Well, Leader, I'll admit... this isn't terrible. But what's next? Gonna renovate yourself too?"

Raven smirked. "No need. I'm already perfect."

Her laughter echoed through the room, but Raven ignored it, his mind already turning to the future. The Moonlit Hitman Agency was finally taking shape. Now, it was time to put it to work. It was time to finally start cultivating.
