Chương 4: LETS GO HUNTING

The dawn painted the sky with hues of pink and orange, casting a soft, ethereal glow over the sleepy town. A gentle breeze rustled through the leaves, carrying the sweet scent of blooming flowers. As the first rays of sunlight peeked through the curtains, Margaret stirred in her kitchen, her rhythmic chopping filling the air with a comforting sound. The aroma of sizzling bacon and freshly brewed coffee wafted through the house, promising a delicious start to the day.

Meanwhile, in the quiet solitude of his room, Phil lay sprawled across his bed, his chest rising and falling with each deep breath. A soft snore escaped his lips, a testament to the peaceful slumber that enveloped him. As the sun climbed higher, casting long shadows across the garden, Charles was hard at work, his hands deftly pruning the rose bushes. The gentle click of his gardening shears provided a soothing soundtrack to his morning routine.

Upstairs, a different kind of activity was unfolding. Junior, a sleepwalker, drifted silently through the hallway, his eyes glazed over. Guided by an unseen force, he made his way to the kitchen, where he stood mesmerized by the flickering light of the refrigerator. As the first birdsong filled the air, Zach stirred in his bed, his eyes slowly opening to the sight of the rising sun. It was unusual for him to wake up so early, but today, he felt a sense of tranquility that he couldn't resist. With a contented sigh, he slipped out of bed and headed to the window, eager to greet the new day.

The tantalizing aroma of sizzling bacon and freshly brewed coffee filled the air as Margaret carried a platter of golden pancakes to the dining table. The sight and smell of the breakfast spread was enough to make anyone's mouth water. Zach, who had been brushing his teeth, was immediately drawn to the kitchen by the irresistible fragrance. He paused, Sniffing the aroma, he drop his toothbrush, with a mischievous grin, he abandoned his dental hygiene and raced to the table, eager to be the first to savor the morning's bounty.

Meanwhile, Junior, the sleepwalker, stirred from his slumber, his senses awakened by the enticing aroma. Still half-asleep, he made his way to the kitchen. The sight of the breakfast table, laden with delicious food, snapped him out of his trance. Without a second thought, he joined Zach at the table, eager to partake in the feast.

As the boys settled into their seats, Margaret turned to call Charles, who was still tending to his garden. She paused, a smile playing on her lips, as she watched the two boys eagerly awaiting their breakfast. With a warm chuckle, she headed outside to find her husband.

Junior, noticing Phil is not at the dining dashed to his room. Phil, who was still fast asleep, his snore so loud like a trumpet blowing . With a mischievous grin, Junior crept into Phil's room and shook him gently. Phil groaned and rolled over, but Junior persisted, eventually rousing him from his slumber.

"Let's go and eat granny" he said .

As Phil blearily made his way to the kitchen, Junior dashed to the dining leaving behind the old man staggering down the stairs.

The aroma of sizzling bacon and freshly brewed coffee filled the air as everyone gathered around the breakfast table. A steaming plate of pancakes, crispy bacon, and a fluffy omelette was set before each of them. Zach, ever eager, picked up his fork and knife, ready to dig in. Phil, still rubbing the sleep from his eyes, sat down and began to pile his plate with pancakes.

Junior, with a mischievous glint in his eye, cleared his throat and announced, "Let's pray!" He folded his hands and closed his eyes, his voice filled with childlike innocence. "Dear God, thank you for this yummy food. Thank you for bacon, pancakes, and eggs. Please bless our food and us. Amen."

As soon as the 'Amen' faded, a flurry of activity ensued. Forks clinked against plates, and the sound of satisfied munching filled the room. Margaret smiled warmly, watching her family enjoy the simple pleasures of a home-cooked meal.

As they ate, Charles turned to Zach. "I got you those new cleats you wanted," he said, a hint of worry in his voice. "But I haven't been able to find that baseball bat you were looking for."

Phil, ever the meddler, chimed in, "Aw, that's too bad, Zach. You were really excited about that bat. I bet it's still up in the attic, gathering dust."

Zach's face fell. "I know," he sighed. "I really hope I can find it." A sudden thought struck him. "I haven't read the book I kept at the attic" he thought.

He drop his fork and clean his mouth with a napkin

" I gotta check the attic again, excuse me" he said, dashing off to the attic

Everyone could hear him fumbling with the door knob upstairs, the door to the attic is old and it creaks loudly echoing in the house.

Zach slammed the door closed and begin turning the attic upside down in search of the book.

" Oh, fuck, where the hell did I hide this book" he groaned in frustration. He slumped on the bed staring at the wooden ceiling and breathing really hard, one could hear his heart racing

Suddenly, his hand brushed against something hard beneath the covers. He reached under the bed and pulled out the large book he'd been searching for.

" I found you at last" he said beaming with smile. The text on the book is all written in Greek words, but to his surprise he's able to read and understand it perfectly well

"Η σκόνη, η φωτιά, ο άνεμος, όλα στο χέρι του επικαλούμενου. Τέκνο της φλόγας, θεριστής ψυχών. Καλώς ήρθες" he read the words out slowly

"The dust, the fire, the wind, all at the hand of the summoner. Child of flame, reaper of soul. Welcome"

He's a little bit confuse at the words, but he still want to unravel the mystery behind the book.

He opened a page and read the text in whisper

" Ὅστις ἀναγινώσκει ἢ εὑρίσκει τοῦτο τὸ βιβλίον, δέδεται αὐτῷ καὶ τὴν ψυχὴν ἠλλάξατο μετὰ τοῦ μεγάλου ἐπικαλουμένου. Δύναμιν τοῦ μεγάλου ἐπικαλουμένου κομιεῖται καὶ πάσας τὰς ἐπιθυμίας αὐτοῦ ποιήσει."

" Whoever reads or finds this book, is bound to it and has exchanged the soul with the great summoner. He will receive the power of the great summoner and will do all his desires." Suddenly he feel a sudden rush of energy racing in his veins, his eyes turns dark and red. His veins pop out like it's about to explode, his whole body steams. The attic floor begin carving a strange mystic circle all around him glowing and shining brightly, with a dark aura filling the room. With a wide opened eyes he stared at the book he's holding and started chanting

"I pledge and release my soul to the ruler of darkness, The king of souls, the mighty devourer. The Sword of the mighty Cules. I pledge my loyalty to you oh great Summoner. In your Shadow I thrive, in your darkness I breathe. Command me oh great Summoner and I will abide till the last drop of my blood"

An invisible hand appearing from nowhere lift his chin up and pour a little water in his mouth

" Drink up and be among the loyal servant of the Cule's sword" A voice said. Zach gulped the water, his body returned to his normal self.

Staring at the book, Zach flip the book again page to page, it seems he didn't realize all that happened

" Why the fuck I'm I getting excited on checking this stupid book out, there ain't nothing there" He said angrily and slump on the bed again.

"Knock, knock" a knock at the door make him stand on his feet to get the door opened. Charles walk in with a slow little pace, shutting the door after him, he look at the messy attic, his eyes nearly getting on the book, Zach quickly cover it with the duvet and sat in it. " I just wanna ask if you'll mind going hunting with me, would you" Charles asked with a broad smile on his face. Zach returned the smile, " let me go get changed, I'll meet you downstairs" he said. Charles slammed the scuttle hole after him, Zach hide the book under the bed and leave the room too.

After he slammed the little door closed. The book shine brightly, enveloping the whole room and suddenly disappear into thin air.
