The tension within the Mikaelson family was palpable. As Klaus and Elena navigated the delicate balance of their new reality, Elijah became more and more suspicious of Elena's growing power. He had always been the voice of reason in the family, the one who valued loyalty above all else. And now, he couldn't shake the feeling that Elena's power was a threat—not just to their enemies, but to them.
"Elena is not what she appears to be, Klaus," Elijah said one evening as they stood in the study, the weight of his words hanging heavy in the air. "This power she wields—it's not something that can be controlled. It will consume her."
Klaus's jaw tightened, and for a moment, he was tempted to lash out at his brother. But he didn't. He couldn't afford to be that reckless anymore—not with everything on the line. Instead, he took a step back, meeting Elijah's gaze with a cold, calculating stare.
"You think I don't know that?" Klaus said, his voice low. "You think I haven't been living with the knowledge that everything I've ever wanted—everything I've ever fought for—could slip away in an instant?"
Elijah's eyes softened, but there was no warmth in them. "I know you, Klaus. And I know how far you'll go to keep her by your side. But I'm not sure that's a good thing. Elena is a force in her own right now. You cannot let her become something you can't control."
Klaus stared at his brother for a long moment, the silence stretching between them. He had always admired Elijah's sense of honor, but in this moment, he couldn't help but feel that his brother's concerns were rooted in jealousy. Elijah had always stood by him, always watched over him. But this time, it was different. Klaus wasn't the same man he used to be—and neither was Elena.
"Don't worry about me, Elijah," Klaus said, his voice steady but with an edge of finality. "Worry about the world outside this house. We've made enemies. And if you think we're safe from them, you're fooling yourself."
