Chương 64: Chapter 64: The Evolution Core

In Stonetown, a small town at the foot of Evolution Mountain, the area may not be large, but it is very luxurious.

It's no surprise; living at the foot of a mountain filled with evolution stones is akin to having a piece of fabric over your head.

Just like some people spend their entire lives searching for a way to Dubai, others are born in Qatar.

As a result, the residents of this town are practically all wealthy.

The most famous among them are the Eevee Brothers.

Residing in a luxurious mansion at the center of town, these brothers spend their time throwing parties, flaunting evolution stones, and flirting with girls.

After all, if they ever run low on money, they can just head to the back mountain and dig up some stones. So, these brothers truly regard wealth as nothing more than dirt...

Besides showing off their riches, the three brothers also care about appearances. They often engage in battle tournaments and networking with league bigwigs.

Coincidentally, Professor Oak is among the top-tier figures in the league. So when Gary contacted these four brothers to express his need for evolution stones,

The three brothers immediately pounded their chests in agreement; they had plenty of evolution stones!

As Gary landed his Charizard directly at the mansion, he was warmly welcomed by the four brothers.

"Welcome! Welcome! A warm welcome!" The maids and servants lined up on both sides and clapped rhythmically.

Looking at the young man with a tri-colored "kill bill" hairstyle standing at the front, Gary smiled awkwardly. "Hehe... Are you guys the Eevee Brothers?"

"We're the Eevee Three Brothers and our immature little brother," explained the eldest brother, Sparky, who wore gym shorts and had golden hair.

"Ahem! Big brother, why say that? Mr. Gary has come from afar; let's start the feast!" The second brother, Pyro, clapped his hands.

Immediately, servants brought out food and drinks to set on a long table in the courtyard. The spread was as lavish as a festival feast.

"Um... We usually eat quite casually; Mr. Gary, please feel free to help yourself," said the third brother, Rainer, a melancholic youth with blue hair whose voice was very pleasant to hear.

However, looking at all the exquisite food scattered around like a buffet restaurant atmosphere made Gary sigh. "Ahem... It really is quite... casual here~"

After several rounds of drinks and dishes...

Gary finally asked, "Excuse me, do you have that special evolution stone I inquired about?"

"It seems you are indeed in a hurry," Sparky smiled slightly and clapped his hands.

A servant pushed a cart forward with a round plate on it.

As it reached Gary, Sparky lifted the circular cover off the plate.

Three diamond-shaped evolution stones lay quietly on top.

Unlike regular evolution stones, these diamond-shaped ones were much smaller and shimmered in gold, red, and blue hues.

"We call this thing the Evolution Core," Rainer stood up to explain. "This usually appears at the root of large evolution stones. However, not all large evolution stones will yield these special evolution cores."

"We only have three types: Thunder, Fire, and Water Evolution Cores," Sparky nodded.

Gary's eyes lit up—this was exactly what he needed! Unlike one-time-use evolution stones, these could be reused repeatedly—perfect for Eevee!

"Big brother, do you want your Eevee to evolve?" A little boy quietly eating in the corner suddenly looked up and asked.

"Mikey! You mustn't be rude!" The second brother, Pyro, frowned.

"I'm sorry; my little brother is a bit childish. Please excuse him," sighed Sparky, feeling exasperated.

Gary looked curiously at the little boy. "So your name is Mikey? You seem like you don't want your Eevee to evolve, right?"

Holding his own Eevee, Mikey lowered his head to explain. "Because after evolving, its appearance and attributes will change; will it still be my Eevee then?"

"Mikey! As the younger brother of the Eevee Three Brothers, how can you be so weak?" The eldest brother scolded him with a frown.

"Yeah! You're going to become a Pokémon Trainer too; do you think you can win battles just by relying on your Eevee?" The second brother joined in angrily to educate him.

"I think... as long as I can be together with my Eevee that's enough…" Mikey replied softly while looking down.

"Hmm~ Actually, that's quite a nice thought." Gary suddenly smiled and took out his own Eevee as well.

"Bui~" Gary's Eevee yawned tiredly before rubbing against his cheek and quietly nestled into his arms.

"Big brother! Is your Eevee unwell?" Mikey noticed something was off with keen eyes.

"Yes; it's still sick," Gary gently stroked Eevee's back. "Because I didn't notice it had reached its evolutionary threshold; letting it suppress its instincts led to its sickness."

"Ah! Is that so?!" Mikey exclaimed wide-eyed in surprise.

"Yes! Because even without using an evolution stone, once an Eevee reaches a certain level of intimacy with its trainer—it can evolve naturally," Gary explained further.

"I know! That's when Eevee evolves based on intimacy—into Espeon or Umbreon forms!" The third brother, Rainer excitedly explained.

Gary looked surprised at Rainer and nodded. "That's indeed correct."

Rainer rubbed his nose happily. "Hehe! I've read your paper."

"So that's how it is." Gary looked at Mikey. "Whether or not you evolve doesn't change that your Eevee is still your Eevee—even if its form or attributes change—your bond remains unchanged."

"But I still don't want my Eevee to evolve so soon." Mikey seemed stubborn about this matter.

Gary shook his head with a smile. "I don't think this should trouble you because evolving is something for Eevee itself to decide!"

"Decide for itself?" The three brothers frowned in confusion.

"Yes! I should listen to what Eevee wants; if it wants to evolve—then let it evolve!" Mikey clapped his hands decisively.

"This... how can that be..." sighed Sparky. "Mr. Gary, if my little brother doesn't let Eevee evolve—he'll be at a disadvantage in battles against others!"

"That's right! After all, Eevee's combat power can only be developed after evolving," both the second and third brothers echoed in agreement.

"Of course! This is all your family matter; I'm just providing an idea," Gary shrugged as he approached the evolution stones once more.

"Well then... I'll take this."

Smack! Suddenly closing the lid again was Sparky's hand.

"Don't rush now, Mr. Gary." The second brother Pyro and third brother Rainer stepped forward together.

With arms crossed calmly across his chest, Gary asked nonchalantly: "What do you three have to say?"

Sparky pointed toward the center of the courtyard. "We three brothers don't have any other hobbies except enjoying Pokémon battles."

"I heard you're Professor Oak's grandson; you should be quite strong," he added with a raised eyebrow.

Gary raised an eyebrow back. "So winning against you three means I get those evolution stones?"

"Oh no no! We just want to spar with you!" The second brother explained hurriedly.

"Yeah! We just want our little brother to see who among us three is stronger," Rainer said honestly.

Looking at confused Mikey, Gary ruffled his hair playfully before nodding in agreement. "Since that's settled—let's battle!"

The three brothers nodded excitedly as servants quickly prepared a battle arena in the courtyard.

Gary patted Mikey's head gently. "Watch closely now; evolving doesn't mean one can fight better. You and your Eevee need to find your own path."

"Big brother~" Mikey sniffled as he earnestly focused on watching the arena.
