The bright gate at the end of the 4th floor gradually increased in variation, revealing a completely new landscape. The suffocating air, filled with the smell of sulfur, assaulted Riku's nose as soon as he entered. The 5th floor was a desolate wasteland with red lava flowing around the stone platforms, forming a maze with no way out.
As soon as he entered, a voice rang out from the air:
"This floor will not only test strength, but also the will and degradation of the fragment. There will be no turning back."
Riku slashed the Sword of Memories, the silver light from the time style here, as if responding to the rhythm. He walked slowly across the stone platforms, his eyes carefully observing every detail in the surroundings.
An unknown noise rang out from afar. A small dragon-like creature, with fiery wings and fierce eyes, suddenly charged towards him.
Riku immediately turned around, narrowly avoiding its sharp claws. His sword swung, cutting the creature's path in half. The flames splashed and the monster fell.
"This is just the beginning," Riku said inwardly. He understood that this floor would not be as easy as the previous one.
The noises from deep within the labyrinth grew louder. Riku realized that, in addition to dealing with dangerous creatures, he still had to find a way to cross the lava trail that crisscrossed the path.
Stopping before a deep space where lava was flowing, he noticed some rocks protruding from the surface. They might be the only way to cross, but jumping from one rock to another was extremely dangerous.
"Just balance, I'll be destroyed by fire."
Gritting his teeth, Riku jumped onto the first rock. The heat responded to him, feeling as if the soles of his shoes would burn at any moment. But there was no time to hesitate. He continued to jump, step by step, until he reached the other side.
Just as he exhaled, a shiny figure appeared from the front. It was a young girl, wearing scorched leather armor, her eyes tired but still lightly determined.
"Who is enough?" Riku asked, alertly upgrading.
The girl put her hands up as if to signal that she had no intention of attacking.
"My name is Ayaka. I've been trapped on this floor for three days. If not, I wouldn't be able to survive any longer."
Riku frowned. The appearance of this girl was not within his expectations, but he also didn't want to accept an ally in the situation of solving this problem.
"Follow me, but don't get in my way."
Ayaka nodded, pulling out two small knives from the fall. Despite her weak appearance, her eyes showed that she was not someone who could be easily subdued.
The two of them headed towards the center of the floor. The path became narrower and narrower, with the hot air currents intensifying, making breathing difficult.
As they approached a large open area, the ground shook suddenly. A creature that needed to be moved up from underground—a Lava Dragon that could be protected by a layer of red paint like burning coal.
"It's the 5th Floor Guardian," Ayaka Ascended, her voice trembling.
Riku didn't say anything, but his eyes were focused on his opponent. The Sword of Memory in his hand emitted a stronger light, as if to give its master more power.
The dragon leaped up, spitting out a torrent of fire. Riku dashed to the side, narrowly dodging it. Ayaka, with her faster speed, circled behind the dragon, continuously slashing with her knife during her free time in class.
But the dragon wasn't easy to take down. A kick from its tail sent Winged Ayaka flying away, slamming hard against the cliff.
"Ayaka!" Riku shouted, but didn't have time to check her status.
With the dragon's focus on him, Riku knew he had to end this battle quickly. The boy stepped into the dragon's sword, where the bright light of a member could grow—its heart.
"That's the weak point!"
Power explosion
Riku gathered all his strength, jumped high, dodging another fire breath from the dragon. The boy poured all his energy into the Sword of Memories, slashing hard at the crystal.
A loud bang. A halo of light covered the entire area. The dragon accelerated one last time before the facility collapsed, turning into ashes.
When everything was quiet again, Ayaka staggered to her feet.
"It was really done," she said, her voice filled with amazement.
Riku didn't reply. He looked towards the light gate that had just appeared, preparing for the next step.
Towards the next floors
Before leaving, Riku turned back to look at Ayaka.
"If you want to survive, stay strong. The next floor doesn't wait for anyone."
She nodded, her eyes filled with determination.
"We will meet again."
Riku stepped through the gate, knowing that the challenges ahead would be even more solvable. But he was no longer the weak Riku he once was.
He was someone who had been resurrected from eternity—and his path had only just begun.
