The ethereal screen floated before Dilhan, glowing faintly in the dim room. The chat feature—newly introduced in one of his earlier streams—was buzzing with activity. Dilhan now acting as ZeroVeil leaned back, smirking at the chaos he'd unleashed upon Thimoria.
It wasn't the kind of chaos that would destroy the world, but he knew that one day, when streaming became popular, the brainrot would begin to spread across Oceros. Would it be a bad thing? Probably. But Dilhan knew it would also be fun, because the most entertainment people in this world currently had was watching a stage play or reading a poorly written book—unless, of course, they were nobles or royalty, who had access to premium-quality literature.
"Alright, alright," he said, adjusting the glowing Streamstone to make sure everything was comfortable for him. "Calm down, chat. One at a time! I can't read everything if you're all yelling at once. But I am glad to see that all of you are rather active. It is good to be active."
While he was talking about the benefit of being active and going on weird tangent, a random chatter names and dialogues flashed across the screen:
[SwordAndAle]: "Lord Streamer, when will you visit the Cali's Tavern again? The ale you recommended was amazing! I have been going there for two week now!"
[GlamourousPrincess]: "Can you teach us how to cast spells like you do to start these streams? I really want to know!"
[GoblinFanatic]: "What's your favorite monster? Mine's the two-headed goblin from the swamps! Goblins are the best man! The sound they make when I pierce them with my sword is heavenly!"
[RoyalRose23]: "Lord ZeroVeil, are you single? Asking for a friend, obviously. If you're not please tell me! For a friend,"
[NobleSpectator]: "Can you recommend a good place for enchanted artifacts in Thimoria?I'm actually new here."
[WealthyNobleXX]: "Do you even read these chats, or is this all for show?! I ama noble, so you should read my message first."
ZeroVeil chuckled, shaking his head. "SwordAndAle, I'm glad you liked the ale. Cali's Tavern is a fantastic place for adventurers. As for you, GoblinFanatic..." He raised an eyebrow. "Two-headed goblins? Really? We need to have a talk about better monsters. Orcs, anyone? But well, I can agree. Hunting goblins might sound fun, but I don't like meaningless killing. If I am correct most goblins won't attack humans unless they are provoked, so I don't really think it is a good practice to kill without any reason."
ZeroVeil didn't want any misunderstanding that he was against killing. He made sure to explain what meaningless killing is and killing for fun is. It looked like some of them disagreed, but most people started to see his vision. Why would they meaninglessly kill something and hurt the nature by wasting the potential use of that thing.
ZeroVeil smirked, leaning back in his chair. "And let me just say this—if you're out there killing goblins for fun, you better not come crying to me when a goblin shaman curses you with chronic small penis. Because trust me, that's a curse no enchanted artifact can fix."
The chat exploded with laughter and agreements.
ZeroVeil's tone softened as he continued. "Honestly, though, I want to thank everyone who's been visiting the places I've recommended. It means a lot to me to see that my streams are making a difference. Knowing you're enjoying these spots or learning from my streams makes me feel like..." He paused, smiling warmly. "...like I've finally found a reason here in this crazy world."
The chat scrolled even faster:
[MagicCrafter]: "We love you, Lord Streamer!"
[BlacksmithsBlade]: "Your shoutout have made me richer than I could've imagined! Long live ZeroVeil!"
[NobleSpectator]: "Family? So... are you adopting us all?"
ZeroVeil snorted. "Adopting? Hold your horses, NobleSpectator. I'm broke as it is. Speaking of which—"
He leaned forward, resting his chin on his palm. "Let me ask you all something. What kind of streams would you like to see in the future?"
The chat paused briefly, then burst into a flurry of confused messages.
[GoldenGroveGiant]: "What do you mean by 'streams'? This IS the stream."
[ArcaneLibrarian]: "I'm sorry, what other streams are there? This concept is new!"
[HunterHawk23]: "You mean there's more to this... streaming thing?!"
ZeroVeil laughed, the sound reverberating through his small room. "Ah, right. I keep forgetting you're all new to this. Back in my... uh, previous life, streams weren't just about talking or showing places. There's so much more I can do!"
The chat lit up in curiosity.
[SwordAndAle]: "Like what?!"
[MageMari]: "Do tell!"
"Glad you asked!" ZeroVeil said, pointing a finger at the screen. "For starters, I'll soon be introducing a facecam. That means, during streams, you'll be able to see my face while I'm talking or doing stuff which will keep you guys more entertained."
The chat immediately went wild:
[NobleSpectator]: "WHAT?! WE'LL SEE YOUR FACE?!"
[RoyalRose23]: "Lord Streamer is revealing his face?! My heart can't take this!"
[GoblinFanatic]: "Finally! The true form of our beloved ZeroVeil!"
ZeroVeil raised his hands, grinning mischievously. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold your excitement! I said I'll introduce the concept of a facecam, but my face reveal? That's going to remain a mystery... for now. After all, I have to think about my own safety."
The collective groans and exaggerated despair in the chat made him laugh harder.
"Instead," he said, leaning back with a smirk, "I have an important announcement. I've just introduced a brand-new feature: donations!"
The chat paused for a moment before questions flooded in:
[WealthyNobleXX]: "What are donations?"
[HunterHawk23]: "Do we sacrifice something for you?"
[BlacksmithsBlade]: "Is this another feature of the sacred stream?!"
[EmberKnight]: "So you finally decide to show your truself?!"
ZeroVeil chuckled, scratching the back of his head. "Not quite. Donations are a way for you to send me support and special messages that'll stand out from the chaos of the chat. That way, I can actually read what you're saying without—"
A notification popped up before he could finish his sentence.
[WealthyNobleXX has donated 1 Gold Coin!]
ZeroVeil froze, staring at the glowing notification. "Wait... what?" He opened his donation panel, and there it was: a whole gold coin. His eyes widened in disbelief.
Even ZeroVeil didn't understand how this system fully worked even though he used it, but he wasn't going to question how someone manage to send their physical money like that.
"A gold coin?! That's... that's enough to buy ten streaming crystals!" he exclaimed. "WealthyNobleXX, you're insane!"
The chat burst into cheers and applause:
[GoldenGroveGiant]: "WealthyNobleXX! Nice work! Let me support too."
[MageMari]: "He's a legend!"
ZeroVeil cleared his throat, reading the attached message. "'Please say my name.' Okay, first of all, a little advice: don't use your real names when donating. It's for your own safety. But thank you, WealthyNobleXX! And I will not read your real name that you sent, but if you really want I will do that,"
Before he could say more, another notification appeared, then another, and another.
[BlacksmithsBlade has donated 5 Silver Coins!]
[RoyalMorg23 has donated 1 Gold Coin!]
[GoblinFanatic has donated 2 Silver Coins!]
"Whoa, whoa!" ZeroVeil shouted, trying to keep up. "Slow down, people! I'm going to have to add a timeout between donations at this rate!"
Among the flood of donations, one name caught his eye:
[SssexyPrincipal has donated 5 Gold Coin!]
He grinned. "Well, well. SssexyPrincipal, my long-time fan. Let's see your message..."
He clicked on the message, reading it aloud: "'What do you think about being the strongest? I've lost my passion to chase after things ever since I realized my dream was unachievable.'"
At first ZeroVeil thought that Sssexyprincipal would ask something silly, but he didn't think she would go for a serious question like that.
The chat quieted as everyone waited for his response. ZeroVeil's grin faded into a thoughtful expression.
"Being the strongest, huh?" he murmured. "Well, being strong is great, no doubt about it. It means your hard work and effort have paid off. But, SssexyPrincipal..."
He leaned closer to the screen, his tone earnest. "Don't focus so much on the end goal that you forget about the journey. Think back to all the moments that brought you to where you are now—the fond memories, the struggles, the excitement. That's where the real magic is. If you think about the endgoal all the time and forget about the journey, it is no wonder you will loose desire to chase after more."
The chat filled with supportive messages:
[GoldenGroveGiant]: "Wise words, Lord Streamer!"
[RoyalMorg23]: "So inspiring!"
ZeroVeil's grin returned as he added, "Besides, I can't even imagine what it's like to be the strongest. I mean, have you seen me? I'm just a guy streaming in his room, barely keeping up with chat!"
The chat erupted into laughter:
[GoblinFanatic]: "And we love you for it!"
[MagicCrafter]: "Long live ZeroVeil, our humble streamer!"
[Sssexyprincipal]: "Thank you, lord streamer! But you're not just a guy,"
ZeroVeil leaned back, watching the screen with a satisfied smile. "Alright, chat. Let's keep this energy going. Together, we'll make streaming the greatest thing this world has ever seen!"
