Chương 18: Paths of Evolution

Yang Feng, Yang Lan, and Tang Jia entered an office building and came to a counter. Yang Feng and Yang Lan only needed to scan their star watches on the machine, and if there was any data about their admission, they would be registered immediately. There was no need for lengthy procedures.

Tang Jia then led both of them to their student residences. As with classes, the residences were also divided into three tiers. Celestial Class students would have separate apartments, while the other two classes would only have a room.

Yang Feng and Yang Lan both entered their apartments. Both were identical. There was one bedroom, one training room, a kitchen, a small living room, and a toilet. The bedroom was simple, with a single bed, a study table and chair, and a cupboard. The kitchen had some basic facilities, while the living room only had a sofa and a tea table.

The biggest room was the training room. It had physical training equipment on one side and a glass box the size of a bed on the other side. Just beside the door was a control panel and a user manual. In here, he could adjust gravity in the center of the room through a formation. He could also use star energy to perform forging or alchemy if he were skilled in it. All in all, it was a multi-purpose training room.

Yang Feng came to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. There were only some bottles of water and energy fluids—nothing else. Yang Feng took out a can of energy fluid and drank it. He didn't come from a prestigious background, and at the institute, only Credits could be used. There were two ways to obtain them: One was through internal transfers (business or simple transfers), and the other was by doing missions. He didn't know anyone except Sheng Li and Tang Jia, and missions and new student free credits could only be obtained once classes started officially.

Yang Feng entered the training room and released Cody and Pearl. When Yang Feng was alone, he didn't need the pet formation to summon Pearl, as he lived in Cody's Small World.

Yang Feng asked Cody, "You said I can evolve my pets. Now, tell me how."

Cody thought for a while. "When you reach the high-grade Mortal Bond realm, with suitable resources, Pearl can advance to a Verdant Line bloodline."

"There are six paths for Pearl's advancement to the Verdant Line bloodline. These are:

Elemental Butterfly: Can evolve into a specific elemental butterfly, such as Light Element Butterfly, Air Element Butterfly, or Dark Elemental Butterfly.

Crystal Butterfly: Can advance into a non-attribute species, the Crystal Butterfly.

Dreamy Wing Butterfly: A soul-type Verdant Line creature that can create illusions and manipulate others' dreams.

Ghost Moth: A Moonbound Undead creature. Pearl needs to die with a special ritual to become a Ghost Moth.

Dragon Spirit Silkworm: Can start its journey to becoming a dragon in the future. This species contains a faint dragon bloodline that can be purified to become a dragon.

Attribute Spirit Silkworm: Can evolve into a silkworm that produces specific types of silk. For example, metal silk would be sharp and strong, light silk would be shiny, and dark silk could be used for traps."

Yang Feng fell into deep thought. He rejected the Ghost Moth path outright. He didn't want to have a Moonbound Creature as a pet, which were also known as Dark Beasts. On the other hand, non-evil creatures were called Sunbound Creatures. He also rejected the dragon route, as he didn't want a dragon pet and didn't want to hurt Ao Xing's feelings.

He thought for a moment and asked Cody, "Cody, I don't want to go down the Dragon or Ghost Moth routes."

Cody confirmed his thoughts and spoke after a while. "I suggest you don't go down the Elemental route, as sooner or later you'll have all the elements."

Yang Feng responded, "So, do you want me to go down the Crystal Butterfly or Dreamy Wing Butterfly route?"

Cody hesitated before saying, "There is another evolution path. It's to evolve into a unique path."

Yang Feng thought about it and asked, "If it evolves into a butterfly, doesn't that mean the Silken Thread will disappear?"

"Yes," Cody replied readily.

Yang Feng asked, puzzled, "But didn't you say that if I can master Silken Thread, it can become a perverted skill?"

"Yes," Cody replied in the same tone.

"Then why are you suggesting the Butterfly species for evolution?" Yang Feng asked, still unable to understand Cody's intentions.

"When did I suggest you evolve it into a butterfly?" Cody asked in confusion. Then suddenly, he understood, "Yang boy, I'm just telling you all your options. You can choose whatever you like. It's none of my business."

Yang Feng understood and nodded. "But according to your suggestion, I should evolve it toward a unique path. What is that?"

"In ancient times, a Beast Tamer evolved his spirit silkworm into an arcane creature, the 'Fortune Weaver Moth,'" Cody spoke with a pleased voice, pleased that Yang Feng wanted his suggestion.

"This moth can affect the luck of those around it," Cody continued. He then teased, "And you need a lot of luck to find evolution materials for your pets."

Yang Feng knew Cody was teasing him, but he was really tempted by this suggestion.

"But I want to go toward the silkworm route, not a butterfly or moth route," Yang Feng said.

Cody replied confidently, "That's simple. When the time comes, I'll provide you a way to evolve while retaining its silkworm body."

Yang Feng nodded and said that he would choose the Luck route.

Cody then gave him a list of materials needed for its evolution into a silkworm that could affect luck. There were three main ingredients and seven auxiliary ingredients.

Main ingredients:

Four-Leaved Fortune Clover: A rare luck attribute level 4 creature. It can bring good luck to those who make a contract with it.

Eclipse Thread Silk: Spun by the Moon Spider during a solar eclipse. It can cover Heaven's Secrets.

Note: This will be used to cover Pearl to help reduce the backlash of rules due to bloodline evolution.

Level 1 Primeval Essence: 2 drops of Level 1 Primeval Essence. Made by Ancestral Blood Pond.

Seven auxiliary materials:

Low-grade energy crystals X 100

Moon essence liquid 10%

Level 3 Spirit Mulberry leaves (as needed)

Core of a Level 2 Soul-type creature

Chime Flower Pollen

Gilded Iron Bark

Spirit Root Incense

As for why yang feng didn't ask pearl. It was because at the moment pearl had just an instinct. As a wild-line creature and this weak at that, it hadn't awakened its spiritual wisdom yet.
