Chương 14: Cool Room

Chapter 014.

In a large sitting room, Mia was seated on a lilac-colored couch with popcorn and warm warm coffee situated in her front. Despite the fact she was watching the TV, her mind wasn't there. She was worried about what transpired last night.

After Richard admitted his feelings for her the previous night, she turned him down and found it hard to move on from Williams, her ex-boyfriend. Richard didn't pursue her and left the room; till now, she hadn't set her eyes on her. When she woke up this morning, the maid told her Richard had left earlier to work.

Since then, she has been worried.

"Excuse me, ma'am, what do you want to have for breakfast? I don't think this popcorn would help." Madam June, the head maid, showed up in front of Mia.

This would be the fifth time the woman has come to ask Mia about breakfast, which resulted in the same answer that she doesn't need food.

"Madam June, I'm okay with this popcorn. You know, I don't like eating much for breakfast." Mia finds a sudden excuse just to avoid eating.

Madam June smiled; from her perspective, it seemed Mia was neither telling the truth nor telling her lies. It could be possible that she doesn't eat much since her appearance looks slim, and she might be lying to avoid eating food because she was worried.

"I don't know if you need this, but you can sort things out through cooking" With this, Madam June bowed and retorted "I will take my leave now"

As Mia stared at her retreating figure, she was meditating on what the woman just said. "Through cooking?" She muttered, still finding it hard to pass the information across to herself. "Does that mean she was talking about Richard?"

When the realization hit her, she quickly stood up and rushed to the kitchen. Immediately the maids saw her, they all bowed.

"Good morning Young Mistress"

At this time, Mia was already used to the honorific, and it seemed pleasant to her ears when the maids called her the young mistress.

"Where is Madam June?" She asked when she stepped into the kitchen.

"She will be back soon; she to take care of some things." The chubby lady with black hair stepped forward. "My name is Nancy, I'm the assistant Head Maid" She bowed.

Mia nodded slowly. She examined the lady from head to toe, and Nancy still maintained a smile on her face; there was nothing suspicious about her, but Mia wasn't comfortable around her like Madam June.

Maybe it's her first time seeing Nancy, she might get used to her later.

Disregarding the thought in her, Mia beamed a smile and replied firmly yet in a pleasant tone. "Nice to meet you, Nancy. I'm here because I will be needing your assistance." Mia was choosing her words carefully and faster because she didn't want to misunderstand her personality.

She knew how maids gossiped about their masters, and they also maltreated their masters if they were weak. Especially their mistress.

To avoid this situation, Mia decided to stay between the level of friendly and stern. She wasn't harsh on them, but she gave stern instructions.

The maid bowed, and Nancy replied. "We are at your service, Young mistress. Just give us the order, and we will make sure to work on it," Nancy responded with a smile on her face.

Since it was her first time in the kitchen, Mia was confused about what to say. She intended to follow Madam June's advice, but she was uncomfortable to ask about Richard's Best food.

Hmm...

"She is clear and keeps her voice firm. I wanted to cook for the Young Master tonight" She mouthed.

With a radiant smile on her face, Nancy bowed and replied. "We got your point, and we are ready to help you prepare anything you want"

It's not like she can't cook but she doesn't know what to prepare. Then, her mind goes back to Madam June, and she furrows her brows.

She has spent some minutes in the kitchen, and Madam June hasn't returned. If she was here, Mia wouldn't be feeling uncomfortable.

"Madame June isn't yet back?" She asked, feeling confused about the whole situation.

An average-height maid with blonde hair bowed and replied. "She has gone to inspect the maids taking care of Young Master's cool room"

Mia furrowed her brows, she didn't get the information yet. It seems she has been having issues understanding people's messages these days.

"Cool room? What is the cool room about?" She asked with confusion written over her face. However, silence emerges in the room as the maids refuse to talk with their downcast.

At this moment, Mia's suspicion grew deeper. Starting from the room's name to the maid's reaction, it seems there is something secretive about the room.

"Are you going to keep your mouth shut now, or do you want me to open it for you? Huh!" The roar in her voice and the expression on her face gave chill feelings to the maid, and they began to shiver, which was obvious to Mia.

At first, she didn't want to be harsh and felt guilty for making them shiver that way. But she needed to act tough to get the right information even though she found it hard to keep the pretense.

"We are sorry, Young Mistress, but...ouch!" When the maid with blonde hair wanted to speak, another maid with brown silky hair pinched her, and Nancy also shot the maid a glare.

Mia's face turns red in sudden anger and confusion accompanying the feelings of fear. "What is inside this room?"

Unable to control her feelings, Mia had a fierce look on. "Take me to the room now! Or else you want to lose your Jobs"

At that moment, Mia didn't care about her personality; she was too angry to control her feelings.

With shaky legs, Nancy leads Mia to the basement. They almost get there when they bump into Madam June, who is surprised to see Mia behind Nancy.

"Young mistress, why are you here?" She asked calmly, maintaining the friendly tone that he always had in her voice.

Meanwhile, Mia was too angry to control the tone of her voice. "Is that a question, or are you telling me where I must visit in this estate?"

When Madam June noticed the difference in Mia's voice, she stepped aside and pointed to the basement. She already knew the reason why Mia sounded that way.

In a swift moment, Mia followed the directions and found a door. It is truly a cool room because the atmosphere is so cool that it feels like the basement is located on another planet.

Taking a deep breath, Mia twists the door knob and opens the door. When she entered, something else followed.

"Argh!!"
