Kael's mind wandered as the training session concluded.

The others had left, but Lumia lingered around him.

"Is Dragon Queen Sephina your mother?" Lumia finally asked.

Kael's steps faltered.

He had told Celestara to keep his lineage a secret, but it seemed the Vampire Queen couldn't resist sharing.

Kael thought, letting out a soft sigh.

"Hmm," he admitted.

Lumia's eyes sparkled.

"Oh! That explains why you're so strong," she said.

Kael gave a faint smile, though it didn't reach his eyes.

"Not exactly. I've spent most of my life away from her. In seventeen years, I've only spent a few months with her. Strength doesn't just come from lineage."
