Chase glanced at her while driving, thinking how guilty he felt for sending her to the hospital. Of course, that was not his intention.

"I heard you had been in the hospital. Are you alright now?" He asked while he drove them to the site.

The waiter that he bribed to spike their drinks could not see an opportunity to tamper with their wine. Therefore, he alternately spread the powder on the cake's icing.

If he had known that, he would have canceled the whole thing. He knew that his friend, Lucas, did not like sweets. Therefore, he already knew that it would not work.

"It is nothing. The doctor said I must have reacted badly to something I ate. But I'm ok now." She cheerfully answered, seemingly recovered and back on her feet.

He was glad. However, he knew he had messed up their carefully laid plan. But it was not his fault, not entirely. It was that stupid prick. He just had to improvise and ruin it.
