Without Thor making a move, Jane Foster stepped forward with Mjolnir in hand.
Loki wouldn't hesitate to unleash his power, especially against a worthy opponent. After a quick buildup, he released a golden flame in an arc toward the group.
"Watch out!" Natasha shouted, leaping forward to block the flames with crossed arms. Her magic bracelet deflected the searing heat.
"Cover me!" Sif called, and with the familiarity of seasoned allies, Fandral and the others sprang into action.
The Destroyer swung at Fandral, sending him flying with a single swipe. At the same time, Sif managed to leap onto its back, driving her sword deep into its neck. Instantly, the Destroyer's flames extinguished, and it froze in place.
That was too easy, everyone thought, momentarily stunned.
But Thor knew better. The Destroyer wasn't a living creature—it didn't have a vulnerable "critical point." Sif's blow, as fierce as it was, hadn't ended things.
Sure enough, the Destroyer's armor began to shift, its structure rearranging so that Sif was now directly facing it. She froze in shock, realizing she had no way out as a massive steel fist closed in to grab her. If caught, she'd be seriously injured—she was the strongest warrior here, second only to Thor himself.
Unable to dodge in mid-air, Sif closed her eyes, bracing for the worst.
Suddenly, a gunshot rang out—Minerva had fired, hitting the Destroyer's hand just enough to divert its aim, allowing Sif to narrowly escape.
Nice shot, Thor thought, relieved. He'd been ready to step in himself, but Minerva's intervention saved Sif just in time.
Sif, having narrowly escaped, landed on the ground and struggled to catch her breath. Minerva, though successful, was visibly shaken, a sheen of cold sweat on her forehead from the pressure.
At that moment, a slim figure launched from a nearby rooftop—Jane Foster, her hammer flashing with energy, brought it down hard on the Destroyer's head.
A deafening boom echoed as the Destroyer staggered but recovered almost immediately, swinging one massive hand like it was swatting a fly. Jane had no time to react and was sent flying hundreds of meters. If it hadn't been for the resilience Mjolnir granted her, that blow might have been fatal.
The Destroyer's empty eye sockets lit up again, preparing another searing blast.
Undeterred, Sif charged forward, sliding low toward the Destroyer's legs—she knew it had no "vitals" to aim for, so she struck one of its legs to throw it off balance.
Her double-edged sword, which had felled countless enemies, hit the Destroyer's leg with a resounding clang, sparking but leaving barely a scratch. But it worked—the Destroyer lost its balance and crashed to the ground, its energy beam carving a trench several kilometers long as it shot into the sky.
The moment it was down, everyone rushed at it, attacking in unison, the clash of weapons against metal filling the air.
"What now? This thing won't break!" Fandral yelled, looking desperately at Thor.
Thor watched the scene intently, almost like a spectator. Many leaders avoided jumping into battles themselves, preferring to let their subordinates test themselves first before delivering the final blow—but he wasn't about to be a mere spectator here.
"Get back!" came a commanding voice, startling everyone just as the Destroyer began to rise once more.
Not far away, Jane Foster stood, hammer raised. Thunder rolled across the sky, dark clouds swirling and blocking out the sun. The earth trembled as a massive bolt of lightning split the sky, striking down and surging through her upraised hammer.
A spectral suit of armor, resembling Thor's, took shape around Jane's silhouette, making her already strong presence even more formidable.
Thor watched breathlessly from a distance. This was the moment he had planned for—a transformation that, in his original timeline, would have taken much longer.
