Kado uses his abilities to stabilize the fire, feeling a deep sense of sorrow as he watches the precious information Fite risked his life to gather fade away, turning into dust.
"Don't you feel regret? These documents were written by you," Kado asks, looking at Fite.
Fite responds with a smile, explaining that the island's records are already known to the world. The burning is more of an act to tell the deceased that he, too, is a part of the Andre family and can produce valuable geographical records. "One day, I will burn the records of Laugh Tale in front of their graves. Then, I believe their spirits will finally find peace."
Waving his hand to lift the barrier, Kado watches the fire rekindle, the ashes drifting toward the sky.
Kado murmurs, "I hope people really do have souls after they die."
Fite, looking up at the sky with a faint smile, says, "I believe people have souls. My parents and relatives' spirits are watching over me. They are watching my growth and the documentation of the world. When I burn these records for them, I can imagine their smiling faces, finally content with the completion of the dream."
The passage reflects the themes of legacy, sacrifice, and honor, with Fite's burning of the documents symbolizing his tribute to his family's mission. He sees it as a way of showing his ancestors that their dream has lived on through him.
"Sure, we will definitely conquer the Grand Line. At the very least, I will get the Grand Line's records for you!" Kado nodded fiercely, clenching his fist. "We're nakama!"
"Nakama don't complete dreams for each other. They just help out," Fite said, standing up. "If I can't complete my dream, I hope you'll come here and burn the records for me as a consolation."
"You fool," Kado stood up and punched Fite. "I'm not burning anything for you. So, stay alive, and make sure you complete your own dream. Don't expect to die before me."
"Heh." Fite smiled but said nothing.
Suddenly, a noise broke the silence nearby.
"Quick, come here! There's a light, it must be that guy!"
A voice echoed, followed by several others in response.
Dozens of armed figures emerged from the forest, surrounding Kado and Fite.
"Hey, I'm just a tourist here! What are you doing?" Kado quickly raised his hands in surrender. While he wasn't afraid of a few dozen guards, he had little patience for harming ordinary people.
"The boss here is really going all out to protect the reputation of Honeymoon Island, hiding the fact that there are thousands of graves on the mountaintop. They don't want the rich tourists to think it's dirty," Fite said with a helpless expression. After all, the island had been mortgaged, and once the term ended, it no longer belonged to him. Though the graves belonged to his ancestors, he had no right to interfere on someone else's land. So, every time he came, he had to carefully avoid the guards.
"Hmph, it's you two," the guard who had previously blocked Kado and Fite stepped forward. "Instead of enjoying the beach, you've come up here to cause trouble?"
"No, of course not. We got lost, and somehow ended up here," Kado quickly explained.
"Oh? Isn't this the young master of the Andre family? You've grown up!"
A voice Kado found extremely annoying echoed out, and a fat figure emerged from the forest, walking toward Fite.
"We should go," Fite's expression suddenly changed, his brows furrowed. He grabbed Kado and started walking toward the base of the mountain.
"Wait a minute," the fat man suddenly said. "I didn't expect the young master of the Andre family to be such a filial son, coming to pay respects to his ancestors. But after this, I'm afraid you won't have the chance to come again."
Hearing the man's words, Fite abruptly stopped, turned around, and glared at him. "What do you mean by that?"
"Heh, what I mean is that you won't need to come back. I plan to flatten all these graves. This place will become a luxurious resort, and there will be no more of these annoying tombs," the fat man said, kicking a nearby tombstone with disgust on his face.
"Damn, digging up someone else's ancestors' graves!" Kado nearly lost his temper and charged at the man, ready to give him a beating. However, Fite grabbed Kado's arm, stopping him from acting impulsively.
"Forget it. This island is already theirs, including everything on it. The mortgage agreement was very clear; I really shouldn't be here anymore," Fite tried to calm Kado down.
Kado could clearly feel that Fite was trembling, and it seemed that he was deeply upset. However, since Fite had stopped him, Kado knew he shouldn't say anything more.
"Good that you understand," the fat man said smugly. "It's laughable, though. My old man used to always stop me, telling me not to destroy these graves. But now that he's finally dead, the Bakrov family is all mine. Now I can do whatever I want without anyone stopping me."
"What? You're saying old Mr. Bakrov has passed away?" Fite's body shook violently, and his eyes began to mist up again.
"Heh, that old guy should have died long ago. He always favored your crumbling Andre family, always thinking about keeping the graves to maintain the image of Honeymoon Island. He even wanted to lend your Andre family money to conquer the Grand Line. It's ridiculous! As if the Grand Line is so easy to conquer! A noble family throwing everything away for some silly dream, leading to their downfall. Now you're all left with nothing, and your private lands are mortgaged to someone else. If it weren't for my interference, my father would have just given you the money directly. Thankfully, I was smart enough to stop that. Otherwise, I wouldn't be enjoying this beautiful, picturesque Honeymoon Island now," the fat man boasted, proud of his business acumen.
"Damned guy," Kado cursed under his breath, ready to charge at the man and throw a punch.
"Let's go! This is their territory," Fite stopped Kado and pulled him toward the foot of the mountain.
"Oh, by the way," the fat man shouted after them, "If I hear any more rumors about there being a lot of graves on Honeymoon Island, don't blame me for being ruthless and feeding these dead guys to the fish." It was clear that he was very concerned about the island's reputation.
Fite trembled violently, suppressing his anger, and continued pulling Kado toward the mountain base.
"How much did you mortgage Honeymoon Island for back then? We can buy it back," Kado yelled at Fite.
"Heh, don't think about it. It's impossible now," Fite forced a bitter smile. "When Honeymoon Island was mortgaged, it wasn't the place the rich flock to now. It was our family's land, called 'Androka'. Now this island is worth far more than it ever was. Even if we came up with 10 trillion Berries, that fat man probably wouldn't sell it back to us."
"10 trillion Berries!" Kado was stunned, but after thinking for a moment, he realized that perhaps Honeymoon Island really was worth that much now.
