"Beautiful lady, your figure is really great," Kado said again, standing in front of her.
"Do you want to hook up with me?" the woman asked.
"Yes, yes!" Kado nodded repeatedly.
The woman extended her hand toward him: "Give me money."
Kado was stunned: "Why do you need money?"
"No money, no way you're getting with me. Dream on! I really don't understand how someone as poor as you even managed to come to Honeymoon Island for a vacation. The guards here must be blind," she said, then turned and walked away.
Kado scratched his head, thinking about getting some money, but when he looked around, he felt speechless. Although everyone here was a wealthy person, unfortunately, these rich folks were all lying naked on the beach enjoying sunbathing, clearly without any money on them.
Reluctantly, Kado finally thought of Fite. All their finances were managed by Fite, so he would have to ask Fite for some money now.
Looking around the beach, Fite wasn't here. Kado knew that Fite must have gone somewhere unknown. Every time they came to Honeymoon Island, Fite would mysteriously disappear for a while, and this time was no exception.
"What is Fite up to?" Kado wondered, feeling curious and unable to resist wanting to uncover Fite's secret.
Back at the hotel, Fite was still not there. After asking the hotel owner, Kado learned roughly where Fite had gone and decided to follow.
According to the hotel owner, Fite had probably gone towards the mountaintop. Kado looked at the highest peak on Honeymoon Island in the distance and couldn't resist the urge to go up and see it.
Running all the way, Kado soon reached the place where Fite had been stopped by the guards before. As expected, the armed guard reappeared, trying to stop Kado, warning that there was danger at the mountaintop.
Kado smiled at the guard and told him that he wasn't afraid of any danger, then turned and rushed up the mountain.
Before the guard could react, Kado had already disappeared without a trace. The panicked guard quickly notified his boss, the owner of Honeymoon Island.
Kado traveled up the verdant mountain path. The stone steps were covered in moss, indicating that no one had passed this way in a long time.
As he looked around, the sparsely populated area deepened his curiosity. It was surprising that Honeymoon Island, a popular tourist destination, still had such an untamed forest-like place, with guards preventing access. There must be some secret at the mountaintop.
Kado's pace quickened, and soon he reached the summit. At the highest peak of Honeymoon Island, a large flat area appeared, as if the mountain had been cleaved in half.
What was even more surprising was that the summit was covered with numerous tombs, giving off a rather strange impression.
There were at least a few thousand tombs scattered across the area, creating a bumpy landscape, like pimples suddenly appearing on smooth skin.
These tombs were overgrown with weeds, but the tombstones still clearly indicated that it was a family graveyard, as all the tombstones bore the same surname: "André."
As Kado walked deeper into the graveyard, he suddenly smelled the scent of something burning. He followed the strange odor deeper into the tombstone area.
The closer he got to the source of the smell, the more he saw a glow, and it seemed like there was a figure nearby. The figure resembled Fite.
"Hey, Fite, what's going on? How are you here?" Kado asked as he approached.
"You're here," Fite turned his head to look at Kado before his gaze returned to the paper burning in the fire.
Kado initially thought Fite was burning spirit money, but then he realized that in the world of One Piece, there's no tradition of burning spirit money for the deceased. So, he began to observe what Fite was actually burning.
"Hey, Fite, what's going on? Aren't these your most precious notes?" Kado was shocked when he realized what Fite was burning. These were the notes Fite had written every time he traveled to a new island. He always treated these notes as treasures and didn't even allow Kado to touch them. So why was Fite willing to burn them now?
"Heh, they're just things that prove myself," Fite said with a bitter smile. "I want those who are buried here to know that I'm also a member of the André family, and I can write valuable travel records. Now, I've succeeded, but they're all gone. I can only tell them this way, about my efforts, my dedication."
Kado sat down next to Fite and asked, "By the way, I realize I don't really know much about your past. You've never talked about it. Can you tell me now?"
"Heh, you want to know?" Fite looked at Kado, who nodded. Then, Fite began to speak.
"My full name is 'André Fite.' These are all my family," Fite said, gesturing around him. "They were all my relatives. They all had the surname André. But now, I'm the only one left. They've all passed away, and the hope of the André family is about to fade."
Kado was deeply shocked. These were Fite's relatives, members of the André family. His previous questions were instantly cleared away. Now he understood why Fite would always disappear whenever he arrived on the island—he was here to pay respects to his family.
Fite continued, "The André family is known as the family of adventurers. From birth, the blood of adventure flows in our veins. Every person in our family has a mission from the moment they are born: to explore the entire world and document all the regions for future generations to use as reference."
"Andre?" Kado suddenly felt the name was familiar. After a moment of thought, he realized—this name belonged to the author of the book Nami found in One Piece, which recorded the data of small islands. It all made sense now. The André family could be seen as the geologists of a past life, attracted by the ever-changing geography and climate of this world. After adventuring on each island, they would record the data for future reference.
"Through the efforts of our ancestors, we have explored all the regions across the seas and left behind valuable records. Unfortunately, the Grand Line is the only place where we have no information. No one in our family has ever conquered the Grand Line. Our ancestors did everything they could to collect data about it, but the information they gathered was scarce and highly disputed. As a result, our ancestors began to venture out and try to conquer the Grand Line. It's undeniable—the Grand Line is incredibly dangerous. Many of our ancestors never returned once they entered it. Our family gradually began to decline. Until ten years ago, when I was seven, Roger conquered the Grand Line and reached its end, Raftel. This news inspired our family. When we learned that Roger had used a ship made from the Adam tree to conquer the Grand Line, our family mortgaged our island, Honeymoon Island, to get a loan to buy the Adam tree and the necessary tools for adventuring. Then they set off for the Grand Line. At that time, only my grandfather and I stayed behind on the island. They said I was too young and not suited for adventure, so they left without me. And so, it was just me and my grandfather remaining."
"Did they not come back?" Kado's mood became heavy. These people, who had dedicated themselves to their own dreams, or rather, to the dreams of their family, made Kado both admire them and feel sorrow. At the very least, Kado himself wasn't someone who could sacrifice everything for a dream. Perhaps it was because of these people who passionately pursued their dreams that the One Piece anime from the previous life became so captivating.
"Heh, of course not. My grandfather and I waited year after year, but there was no news of them. Three years later, my grandfather died, and the deadline for the island's mortgage had passed. The island was seized, and I was driven off Honeymoon Island. Since then, although I've tried everything to return to Honeymoon Island, I never heard any news of them. I know they must have failed. The entire André family failed. What's pathetic is that my grandfather kept comforting me, saying they would succeed, that the André family's dream would be realized. Until the moment he died, he still believed the dream could be achieved. Now, it's been ten years, and my parents, uncles, and aunts—none of them have returned. The André family is now down to just me. This dream, the dream of thousands of people over hundreds of years, was never realized. And now, I am the only one left." Fite's emotions grew intense, and tears streamed down his face, soaking his chest.
"What a heavy dream," Kado thought. "A family of thousands, all for this one dream, and now, only one person remains. Only Fite is still alive."
