Chương 115: Shattered Innocence

In the tranquil corridor, the gray cloak billowed in the wind, rustling behind the man.

Xiao Mu Yu carried Lux on his back, his expression icy as he hurried through the passage, silent and resolute.

"Mu Yu? Junior Brother?" The golden-haired girl, weakened by the divine power of the goddess that had tainted her soul, asked feebly from his back, "Where are we heading next?"

"To regroup with the others," Xiao Mu Yu replied, his tone devoid of warmth.

"Um... Do you know where they are?" Lux inquired, curiosity evident in her voice.

"Yes... After becoming aware of the chaotic currents of space, I sprinkled magical stardust upon all of you. As long as this stardust remains, I can sense your positions, no matter the distance," Xiao Mu Yu explained coldly.

"Magical stardust?" Lux was taken aback by the mention of this enchanted item. "The alchemical creation from the era of the Ancient Magical Empire? The very stardust that can substitute for Night Demon Crystals in constructing most high-level magical arrays?"

Xiao Mu Yu nodded indifferently, tacitly acknowledging her words.

Suddenly!

Xiao Mu Yu's forward momentum halted abruptly, transforming him into a fleeting shadow as he instantly flashed back several dozen meters, his gaze chillingly fixed on the void ahead.

The girl clinging to his back was caught off guard, nearly thrown off by his sudden movement. Grasping the hem of his garment, Lux barely avoided being flung into the air.

"Wha... What happened?" The already fragile girl felt her vision darken from the jarring motion, nearly fainting. Panic crept into her voice as she asked, "Is the goddess of innocence pursuing us?"

"..." Xiao Mu Yu remained silent for a few seconds before coldly responding, "It is not the goddess of innocence, but rather... something far more troublesome."

Before them, the void twisted into a nightmarish grin as a rift in space slowly opened. From this fissure emerged an adorable plush bear.

Bouncing along the edge of the rift, the little bear seemed disoriented, floating aimlessly in the air before finally regaining its senses. It then turned its head toward Xiao Mu Yu and Lux, grinning widely in a cheerful manner.

However, the sharp rows of serrated teeth within that grin rendered the smile anything but endearing, instead instilling a chilling sense of dread akin to a descent into a hellish nightmare.

An ominous and frigid aura began to permeate the air...

...

"Oh dear, it's Nasus! You really came after me?" Sivir exclaimed in surprise, turning her head with a smile. "But it seems your goddess is in quite a predicament; shouldn't you check on what's happening?"

The towering canine figure paused, his expression one of indifference and gravity as he lowered his staff. "Life is but a part of the cycle; the goddess has merely concluded this chapter. Life and death are eternal, and mere death holds no significance to me."

"Oh? You're rather optimistic," Sivir chuckled mischievously, covering her mouth. "But what about the significant trouble left behind by the goddess of innocence? A goddess steeped in despair and sorrow cannot possibly manifest anything ordinary! Perhaps she will give rise to a terrifying world-ending demon."

"Though [Shattered Innocence] is fearsome, it has not yet reached an insurmountable level," Nasus replied solemnly. "In comparison, the Staff of Time holds greater importance. Lady Sivir, I must ask you to relinquish the Staff; it does not belong to you."

"Oh! So, after the fall of the goddess of innocence, her divine essence manifests as [Shattered Innocence]! While I'm unsure of its nature, it certainly sounds formidable," Sivir remarked with a grin. "But, being a goddess myself, why should I simply hand over something just because you, Nasus, a mere apostle of a deity, demand it? Wouldn't that be rather undignified?"

With that, Sivir turned her gaze toward the three Noxians blocking the other end of the corridor, grinning wickedly. "Moreover, the entire progression of this affair has been subtly orchestrated by the forces these three represent. From the excavation of the pyramid ruins to the theft of maps, it can be argued that it is their handiwork."

"Were it not for their covetousness toward the Staff of Time belonging to the magical king Xerath... Uh, pardon me, I misspoke. Since Xerath has already fallen to Anivia, the Staff should rightfully belong to the goddess of innocence," Sivir continued. "If not for these ruffians coveting the spoils of your goddess, disturbing Anivia's slumber, she might still be alive. In a sense, these individuals are the true culprits behind Anivia's demise."

"Regarding these culprits, Nasus, as the divine envoy of the goddess of innocence, do you not intend to punish them?" Sivir taunted.

"Swish."

Darius and Katarina instinctively took a step back, gripping their weapons tightly, their eyes fixed on the towering canine figure, wary of the potential wrath that the woman before them might provoke.

Although they understood that the two divine envoys within the pyramid and their revered goddess had sustained severe injuries in a battle thousands of years ago, significantly diminishing their power, Darius and his companions were still uncertain of their chances against such formidable foes.

With an icy and authoritative gaze, Nasus surveyed Darius and his companions as though he were a deity looking down upon insignificant insects, before fixing his attention on Sivir. "Lady Sivir, do not attempt to divert my focus; the Staff of Time is my utmost priority at this moment."

"Ah... very well, my attempt to divert attention has failed. It seems a confrontation is inevitable, how tedious," Sivir remarked with a hint of displeasure as she drew her slender iron spear. "Though I am indeed known as the [Goddess of War], I find combat to be quite distasteful!"

Holding her spear, Sivir lazily tilted her head to regard Darius and his companions, her tone laced with irritation. "Darius, remember this well! We have forged a significant enmity! Were it not for your interference, I would not have been pursued by Nasus."

"It seems I will need to keep a close watch on you Noxians once I am free." Tilting her head, Sivir threatened, though her languid tone lacked any real intimidation.

Unfazed, Darius stepped back slightly, his face darkening. "Noxus awaits your challenge."
