The hallways of the manner seemed to always be empty to a certain degree. The reason being was the Alexia liked everything a certain way and hated unnecessary things, And so the number of servants she had were far less than even some lower nobles who lived in border territory's. Of course every one of Alexia's servants were the best of the best so having few in number made no difference.
"Fiancé" My voice sounded out before a giggling sweet voice yelled just to my side.
"Say it again!"
"Fiancé" I obediently said it again hearing the giggles get louder and more excited with each second.
"One more time!"
"Fiancé" I let out a sigh of exasperation as I glanced down at Aria who was basically skipping beside me.
The young girl was wearing a simple dress that hugged her figure modestly, Although with such a lewd body it still failed to hide her curvy chest and bottom that jutted out. I couldn't help but wonder if Aria had purposefully worn white before deciding that she definitely did.
'She looks really happy' Yet despite repeating myself over and over again I only felt warm as I saw her bright smile.
"Mother will definitely be jealous!" Aria's next words almost made me trip on thin air as she hummed.
'What is she talking about' I felt awkward for a few seconds and pushed her statement out of my head.
'….' Yet there was a small part of me that found the thought slightly uplifting in a sense I couldn't describe.
I couldn't deny that I'd be happy if the queen was interested in me from a romantic standpoint. I mean Sophia was a woman that any man would want even without her title as queen. She was intelligent, kind, Mature and not to mention her voluptuous vulgar body that could drive a man insane.
'Stop it' I knew it was pointless to think such things though since Sophia was a woman of duty who put nobility above herself.
"Father will be very happy as well" Aria muttered to herself and I could only nod knowing she was right.
The king had been trying to entice me since I came to capital for the first time. He had first offered me the title of Duke but Alexia refused in my stead which was of course the right move, Then not long after he had come to me privately and proposed that I get engaged with Alexia to which I had refused as well.
It wasn't because I didn't want to get married to my beloved teacher at the time but because I wanted it to be natural. I knew that if the king ordered Alexia to marry me then she would have went along with it for the sake of duty, It was only my desire for her to love me truly did I hold back my urges.
After that the king had stepped back from being so forceful until I met Aria for the first time. She clung to me the second she saw me and the king happily proposed that we get engaged, I had of course refused for the simple fact that Aria was barley half my age and also because she was bratty.
"He's going to make a big deal out of it" I muttered with agony as I could already see the banquet he'd throw.
Eventually me and Aria arrived at the dining room hand in hand with our fingers entangled. Aria's excited expression turned sour once she realized that the chairs were empty, She let out a huff of annoyance and pulled me to the table with visible irritation.
"…." I watched her with exasperation once more as she sat down with her legs dangling off the high chair.
"It's early" I spoke as I took a set beside Aria whose expression brightened up at my words.
"You're right! They're probably on their way…." She muttered kinda creepily as she put her hand on the table inconspicuously.
"Eat something as you wait" I rolled my eyes and pushed plate of what looked like sweet pastries toward her.
"Okay" Aria's eyes sparkled as she saw the treats but they shined even more when we heard footsteps.
"Finally!" She quickly held her arm up as naturally as she could and turned around with a gleeful expression.
"…." Yet I was confused when I saw Aria's entire body turn completely stiff and a she whimpered.
"What's wrong" I asked as I glanced back but a frown filled my face when I saw a dark skinned man entering the room.
"Good morning hero" Leon smiled as he saw us and greeted me politely as he always seemed to in public.
"Princess" He looked toward Aria who shrunk back with screech as if she was staring at a real demon.
'She's scared' It was obvious that Leon's number had done a real number on the once proud princess.
'That bastard….' I grit my teeth holding back my anger and reached up to grab Aria's soft small hand.
"….." I could instantly feel her body softening up as she let out another deep breath.
"C~commoner…" It seemed my presence gave her some confidence as her back straightened and her tone became slightly arrogant.
"Hm" Leon narrowed his eyes and hummed causing Aria to shrink back again with trembling eyes.
"Stop~" I couldn't take his disrespect anymore and tried to speak only for the bastard to cut me off.
"Princess may I have a word with you in private?" Leon smiled politely not even bothering to acknowledge me.
"W~what…" Aria looked both scared and confused and squeezed my hand as if asking me to save her.
"Now princess" Leon spoke again but his tone was much deeper making Aria flinch before she quickly nodded her head.
"Y~yes!" She swiftly jumped out of her chair with not a shred of arrogance on her face.
"Wait you don't have~" I tried to step in as I glared at Leon and yet I was cut off in the middle of my words.
"N~no its f~fine husband" Aria gave me a pleading expression as she glanced at Leon to the side.
"Yes hero it's fine" The dark skinned man smiled at me and turned around walking off with no hesitation.
"I~I'll be back!" Aria stared at me with her fear being evident in her large eyes before she meekly ran after Leon.
'W~why…' Her hand slipped out of mine and I instantly tried to chase after her until I stopped myself.
I realized that Aria was more fearful of Leon than she was confident of my protection leaving me feeling pathetic. What kind of man was I if I couldn't even make my fiancé feel safe enough to reject someone, All I knew was that the punishment Leon gave Aria seemed to invoke indescribable fear even after a day had already passed.
