Chương 39: Chapter 39: You're Wasting Time, Sasuke

Naruto announced with a grin, "Because we graduated yesterday, which was Friday, today's Saturday."

"I'm only here to deliver this schedule to you," he continued, holding up a paper.

"And with that—disband!"

Sasuke and Sakura blinked in disbelief.

"Huh?" they exclaimed in unison.

Sasuke quickly interjected, "Naruto, don't you think this is a bit excessive?"

Naruto, already turning to leave, paused and looked back. "What's excessive?"

Sasuke frowned but struggled to form a response.

As a ninja, the idea of only taking on one task a week seemed absurd to him—especially when the task in question was to check if there were any tasks worth doing!

And what about training? They were only scheduled to train once a week! Meanwhile, most ninjas wished they could squeeze two days of effort into one. Instead, this schedule had three days for "team-building" and two for leisure.

It sounded less like a ninja schedule and more like... running a company.

"Naruto, strength isn't built by sitting around. It requires constant effort!" Sasuke argued, trying to reason with him.

Naruto, patting Sasuke's shoulder, replied earnestly, "That's why I created this schedule—to give you time to train on your own!"

Sasuke squinted at him, clearly unconvinced. He felt like Naruto was hiding something but couldn't prove it.

Naruto glanced at Sakura, who was watching him with a dreamy smile. Suddenly, an idea struck him.

"How about this?" Naruto suggested, grinning. "We vote. Majority rules. How does that sound, Sasuke?"

Naruto knew Sakura would side with him no matter what.

Sasuke scowled, realizing the trap. After a brief pause, he conceded, "Fine, Naruto. I'll accept your ridiculous schedule, but on one condition—you have to let me join your training sessions."

Naruto considered this, knowing Sasuke wouldn't back down otherwise.

After a moment, he relented, "Alright. You can observe while I train. Also, to keep things interesting, I'll let you challenge me every Tuesday and Thursday. That way, you can learn from your failures and work on improving."

Though the arrangement still seemed relaxed, Sasuke reluctantly agreed—it was better than nothing.

However, Naruto's words about learning from failure didn't sit well with him. It felt like Naruto was implying he'd never lose.

"I'll surpass you someday," Sasuke vowed silently.

Sakura, snapping out of her trance, chimed in. "I agree with whatever Naruto says!"

Naruto and Sasuke exchanged a look.

"Alright then," Naruto declared. "Disband!"

He turned to leave, but the sound of footsteps behind him made him pause.

Turning around, he saw Sasuke and Sakura following him.

Sasuke, feigning nonchalance, said, "I want to see your training firsthand."

Sakura added with a sheepish smile, "I just feel like tagging along."

Naruto sighed. It was Saturday—a day off, according to his own schedule.

Still, he didn't argue.

---

Naruto spent the morning buying gifts and visiting Iruka, his former teacher. They ended up at Ichiraku Ramen, where Ayame teased Naruto for looking cuter than ever.

After lunch, Naruto returned home.

Sasuke, who had been shadowing him, perked up. Surely, Naruto would train now!

But to his dismay, Naruto took a nap instead, snoozing for two whole hours.

When Naruto finally woke up, he didn't head to the training grounds. Instead, he went to find Hinata, whose team was completing a low-level mission.

Naruto spent the afternoon hanging around Kurenai's squad, chatting and laughing with Hinata.

Sasuke, watching from a distance, was flabbergasted. "He's not pretending to slack off. He's really doing nothing!"

By evening, Sasuke had seen enough and left.

Sakura, who had stuck around longer, grew bored as Naruto and Hinata's interactions left little room for her.

And so, Saturday came to an uneventful end.

---

On Sunday, Sasuke woke up determined.

"Today's the day," he muttered to himself. "Naruto must train on Sundays."

He rushed to Naruto's house, only to find him still asleep.

By mid-morning, Naruto finally stirred. After leisurely washing up, doing laundry, and eating breakfast, he stepped outside.

"Good morning, Sasuke!" Naruto greeted cheerfully upon spotting him. "Shouldn't you be training right now?"

Sasuke's face turned red with frustration. "Are you seriously not going to train?"

Naruto shrugged. "I already told you the truth, but you didn't believe me. What else can I say?"

Before Sasuke could respond, Naruto added, "Anyway, I'm meeting Hinata for a date today. You probably don't want to be a third wheel, right?"

Sasuke's expression darkened. "You're lying. You're definitely going to train with her in secret."

Ignoring the accusation, Naruto went on his date, with Sasuke stubbornly trailing behind.

---

The afternoon passed as Naruto and Hinata strolled through the village, went shopping, and watched a movie together.

Sasuke, who had followed them the entire time, felt increasingly disillusioned.

By evening, Naruto walked Hinata back to the Hyuga compound.

"See you next time, Naruto-kun!" Hinata said with a bright smile as she waved goodbye.

Naruto waved back before turning around—only to find Sasuke standing there, looking utterly defeated.

Naruto sighed, "Sasuke, you're wasting your training time by following me."

Sasuke didn't respond, his face twitching as a horrifying realization dawned on him.

Naruto truly didn't need to train.

Despite his carefree attitude, his strength remained unparalleled.

"How is this fair?" Sasuke muttered to himself, shaken to his core.
