Richard strode briskly toward his waiting carriage, his resolve still wavering on his decision regarding the protector, yes the man was right but he still had not made up his mind on what to do.

Once certain the man had departed, he signaled his coachman to proceed. Though his thoughts still wavered on whether to release the protector, his mind was made up on another matter.

Why should he confine himself to restraint—when he yearned for her touch and yearned to touch her—when other paths lay open? She, after all, would have no choice but to yield. Resistance was a luxury she could not afford, she dare not reject him.

Upon arriving at the secluded island, he donned his mask—to conceal himself—and made his way to Anna. He longed to take a closer look at her, to feel her, to touch her. She was lucky that their encounter had brought them together under these circumstances, for the things he wished to do her.
