Late at night.
Returning from a mission, Kurenai had just entered her room when an unsettling chill ran down her spine.
She instinctively heightened her senses, but within moments, a shadowy figure appeared before her. Without a second thought, she threw several shuriken.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
In the blink of an eye, her shuriken missed their target. Just as Kurenai was about to charge forward with a kunai in hand, the masked figure formed a single-hand seal.
Genjutsu: Infinite Darkness Jutsu!
In the next instant—
Kurenai found herself plunging into darkness, her entire field of vision swallowed as though someone had stripped away her sight.
"What is this?"
Her expression shifted drastically. "A Genjutsu?"
Though the room was dim, Kurenai was an elite ninja, battle-hardened and possessing the keen eyes of a seasoned warrior.
Yet suddenly, her surroundings were so dark that she couldn't even see her own hands—it had to be Genjutsu. And Genjutsu was her specialty.
"Release!" She formed a seal, focusing her chakra to dispel the illusion.
But—
Nothing changed.
The blackness remained, shrouding her sight entirely.
"How…how is this possible?"
Kurenai was shaken. Although her years of experience had honed her skills, she was still young and couldn't help feeling a wave of panic as cold sweat trickled down her back.
She tightened her grip on the kunai, remaining vigilant. "Could this be the Second Hokage's A-rank Genjutsu, the Infinite Darkness Jutsu?"
"Hehe, Kurenai-neechan…did I scare you?"
Just then, the shadowy figure lifted his disguise.
With a snap of his fingers, the darkness vanished, restoring the room to normal.
Stopping just short of more teasing, the figure revealed himself to be Kiyoshi, his mischievous smile breaking Kurenai out of her tense state.
"Kiyoshi?"
Relieved but annoyed, Kurenai gritted her teeth, glaring at him with both frustration and a touch of anger. "Why is it you?"
"I waited up late for you, Kurenai-nee. You were taking so long, so I thought I'd have a little fun, hehe…"
Kiyoshi jumped forward, hugging Kurenai and planting a playful kiss on her cheek.
"Don't be mad so mad neechan."
"I almost had a heart attack because of you!"
Kurenai rolled her eyes.
The scare had left her drenched in sweat, and if it weren't for her familiarity with him, she might've suspected someone else using a Transformation Jutsu to trick her.
But his easy, affectionate manner was unmistakably Kiyoshi.
"How did you learn the Infinite Darkness Jutsu of the Second Hokage?" she asked, surprised.
Internally, she couldn't help but laugh wryly. She had once been praised as a rare Genjutsu talent in the village. Yet tonight, she had been outplayed by an eight-year-old.
The Infinite Darkness Jutsu was no ordinary illusion. It was an A-rank jutsu that robbed the target of their vision, creating an advantageous battleground.
Most shinobi couldn't even dispel it. But this only highlighted Kiyoshi's astonishing talent in Genjutsu—he had managed to master such a high-level technique.
"This Genjutsu was in a scroll Grandma gave me yesterday. She said it was a gift from her mother, when she got married."
Leaning comfortably against Kurenai's back, Kiyoshi spoke freely.
"Senju Toka? The legendary Genjutsu master?" Kurenai's eyes widened in shock.
When she was young, she had heard her father mentioning a powerful Genjutsu master from the Senju clan whom even the Uchiha held in high regard—Senju Toka.
Her illusions were so powerful that even the Uchiha's Sharingan had difficulty seeing through them.
"So that's your great-grandmother."
Realization dawned on Kurenai, though she quickly regained her composure.
With a swift motion, she pulled Kiyoshi off her back, her gaze fixed intently on him.
"Wait, are you saying you learned the Infinite Darkness Jutsu in just one night?"
"Yep…"
Kiyoshi nodded, recalling his training with the wood clones the previous day. "It's a powerful A-rank jutsu—but its difficulty was no joke."
Compared to B, C, and D-rank Genjutsu, A-rank techniques demanded much more effort. Each one took significant energy to master.
Especially the sound-based A-rank Genjutsus, which he had only barely managed to grasp in a single night. He'd still need more practice to wield it effectively.
"…"
Kurenai stared at him, her expression darkening.
Looking at Kiyoshi's casual, somewhat smug expression, she felt a twitch of annoyance.
She knew he was gifted, but this was almost unfair.
An A-rank Genjutsu, mastered in one night. The Genjutsu talent she had once prided herself on felt like nothing in his presence. It was…a bit of a blow to her pride.
"Here, Kurenai-neechan. This is for you."
Noticing the slight defeat in her expression, Kiyoshi feigned innocence and handed her a scroll like it was a precious treasure.
"This is…"
Seeing the scroll he offered, Kurenai's eyes widened.
"It's a gift for you, neechan."

"Phew, finally done!"
"This kind of detailed work is truly exhausting!"
"The main body sure knows how to work us to bones."
Early the next morning, in the Ishikawa family's training room, several wood clones were grumbling as they worked.
However, seeing the freshly crafted puppet before them, each one couldn't help but smile with satisfaction.
It was a humanoid puppet, standing around 1.8 meters tall, white color and seemingly ordinary at first glance.
However, upon closer inspection, its head, neck, chest, back, and limbs were equipped with precise mechanisms, each containing countless hidden weapons—a lethal contraption ready for battle.
"Let me try it out!"
One of the wood clones stepped forward, spreading his fingers apart.
Thin chakra threads shot from his fingertips, connecting him to the puppet. Instantly, the puppet's eyes sprang open, and it took its first steps.
Swish!
With a flick of his right hand, the wood clone activated a mechanism. Blades extended from the puppet's hands, resembling the claws of a wild, spinning shuriken.
The blades whirred and spun, creating a fierce wind pressure that made the air vibrate with each rapid slice. The sight was enough to make anyone's scalp tingle.
In the next moment, the spinning blades retracted back into the puppet's arms.
With a subtle motion, ten sharp claws emerged from the puppet's fingers, flashing coldly in the dim light.
Suddenly, they shot forward like rockets, with thin, tightly woven steel cables connecting them back to the wrists. The claws aimed directly at two other wood clones nearby.
But the two clones reacted swiftly, vines bursting from their arms to entangle the approaching hooks.
"Not bad," the two clones chuckled, nodding as they looked at the captured claws.
"Not just 'not bad,'" said the wood clone controlling the puppet, smirking as he moved its hands in rapid succession.
The puppet's claws retracted and shot out again, this time encircling the two clones with barely visible, razor-thin wires that gleamed menacingly, enough to make anyone break into a cold sweat.
With a quick jump, the two wood clones attached themselves to the ceiling, avoiding the wires.
"Retract!"
The wood clone controlling the puppet pulled the chakra threads, making the steel wires reel back with incredible speed as the claws reattached seamlessly to the puppet's wrists.
Then, mechanisms across the puppet's head, chest, arms, torso, and legs activated, revealing spiral-shaped blades across its entire body.
Each blade gleamed with a chilling light, adding an intimidating edge to the already formidable puppet.
The wood clone's fingers twitched slightly, and under the guidance of the chakra threads, the puppet's legs fused into a single cone-like structure, while blades protruded from all four sides of its hands. It spun like a top, whirring with a terrifying speed.
Whirr—
Bang… bang…
After some testing, the wood clone looked around the now-chaotic training room, nodding in satisfaction.
"Its performance is quite decent, but better not go overboard. If we test all the mechanisms and hidden weapons, we'd destroy the whole room, and the main body would never forgive us."
Meanwhile, Kiyoshi was in high spirits as he returned from Kurenai's house.
Being the attentive and caring woman she was, Kurenai had already prepared breakfast, so he didn't need to worry about it.
Yesterday, he'd gifted Kurenai a Genjutsu scroll, and despite her polite refusals, he'd insisted she take it.
For Kiyoshi, everything in that scroll was already imprinted in his mind, and keeping it would have been pointless.
Besides, when it came to his "Kurenai-neechan," he didn't feel the need to hold back anything.
Instead, he was determined to help her improve her strength in any way he could.
In the brutal world of ninja, where countless jutsu, secret techniques, and forbidden arts constantly emerged, danger was always present.
Even a figure as powerful as a Kage could fall if they let their guard down—sometimes fatally.
And for a skilled, though "average," Jonin like Kurenai, the dangers were even more pronounced.
"If she can master the advanced Genjutsu in the scroll, including the Infinite Darkness Jutsu, her strength should be on par with a Jonin," Kiyoshi thought to himself.
"With the Genjutsu knowledge left by my great-grandmother and Kurenai's solid aptitude, I'm confident she'll become an elite Jonin one day."
Hearing a commotion from the training room, Kiyoshi finished helping the elderly Azumi with her morning routine, settling her comfortably on the sofa before heading to check on the wood clones.
"Is everything ready?"
He raised an eyebrow at the mess in the room, his gaze landing on the humanoid puppet that almost perfectly matched the design he had drawn up.
His mouth twitched in exasperation as he looked at his wood clones.
"We did our best, it's all yours now," said the three wood clones in unison, each dispersing into wooden logs that dissolved back into Kiyoshi's body, transferring their memories to him.
"Hah…" Letting out a long breath, Kiyoshi absorbed the memories, feeling mentally drained yet still far from the exhaustion that followed intense Genjutsu training.
After a brief rest, he inspected the puppet, fixing minor issues the clones had missed.
"Not bad. Let's call it Kiyoshi No. 1," he murmured, stroking his chin as he pondered the name.
With that, he stored the puppet away.
By the time Kurenai arrived with two steaming breakfasts, Kiyoshi had fully recovered, his exhaustion entirely gone.
