Chapter Fifty-Three: Boon
Ebon's second life was a mystery to Dusken. He didn't understand what it meant for the death guard and himself, as well as the benefits it brought alongside it.
Was the death guard's rebirth a boon or a curse? Why was there unrecognition in its eyes when it awakened?
These questions made Dusken perplexed, and they troubled him deeply.
However, before coming to the carriage site with Jane, he had commanded Ebon to merge with his shadow… which he obeyed.
Even so, Dusken didn't summon him once again - even though he was curious and wanted to, because those dark, narrow eyes that carried deep hunger and malice, once again appeared in his mind, making him extremely reluctant.
'... What a chore,' leaning back on the cushion, Dusken massaged his aching forehead while letting out a tired sigh.
