Chương 22: Researcher

'Is there something wrong with the archway? It makes no sense that he's only four stars.' Alfie thought.

[There are always higher mountains. It's been known for a while that there's always a realm above the current ones, but I never expected I'd see it firsthand from your first subordinate.] Rina explained.

'But how come my archway's different? Did it respond to the fact I knew there were higher realms?' Alfie thought secretly.

Alfie thought about his previous experience in Gaia, or more accurately, the mythos universe. Because he did not know that there was a bigger world outside of Gaia, his status screen only displayed the level of Gaia's world.

It was only when the system began to regain some power that it let him know that Gaia had simply been a small part of a larger whole.

It seemed that for now, the system would only show information about concepts he knew about.

Looking back at his status screen he focused on the section that involved his current location.

[Current world: Opha

Current universe: Lords (Tier 1)]

The lord's universe was classified as only Tier 1, indicating that not only were there tiers to universes it seemed to rank pretty low.

On the alternative Tier 1 could mean it was the highest, but the discrepancies between the stars on the archway and the stars indicated in the orb of self made him feel it was the former.

Consolidating this info, the 9 stars on his archway corresponded to 3 tiers. 1-3 stars were Tier 1, 4-6 were Tier 2, and 7-9 represented Tier 3.

Considering that Ivory was labeled as 4 stars, his potential had surpassed the capabilities of the universe.

Following his train of thought plenty of other questions about the tiering system, universes in general, and much more entered Alfie's head.

But for the time being any guesses he had would be nothing more than pure guesswork.

Alfie chuckled to himself, he was thinking of uncovering the secrets of the multiverse while he was practically an ant.

He had gotten so caught up in his curiosity that he forgot the most basic lesson he learned. He needed power first and foremost.

Figuring that Ivory was a powerful lord before dying he decided to ask him for advice.

"You wanna know what to do? How about building a shelter for the night." Ivory lectured.

"Summoning more subjects would also be a good idea, my lord. Having more hands to help would no doubt expedite the job." Fawn added.

"Any idea on how many? I've got about 30,000 plus subjects I can summon, but I don't suppose that'd be a good idea." Alfie asked.

"100 a day max. More than that and you'll get too overwhelmed. Once you've got a working system to accommodate more people then you can increase that number." Ivory advised.

"I'd recommend using 10 professional tickets and 80 normal tickets. That way each subject with a profession gets a workforce of 10." Fawn advised.

"I'm stuck with two rich kids." Ivory sighed.

Fawn looked at Ivory with disdain. "The lord has Professional tickets so why should he not use them?"

"Did you even confirm that he has them or did you assume it was standard for everyone?" Ivory asked.

"Oh.." Fawn paused.

"I got some don't worry fawn. And Ivory, could I talk to you for a moment?" Alfie asked.

Ivory moved away to a spot where they could talk alone. Alfie gave a warm smile to Fawn before heading over.

"Something's clearly on your mind, I'm here if you need anything man." Alfie comforted.

Ivory looked to be in deep thought before a gnawing feeling urged him to start talking.

"I'm just a little volatile right now. If you give me some time alone I can probably calm down." Ivory admitted.

Alfie nodded, "Gotchu man. Just tell me if you need anything alright. You and Fawn are pretty important to me."

Ivory smiled before he began walking into the forest.

"Will you be alright without a weapon?" Alfie asked.

Ivory only gave a thumbs-up before he dashed into the depths of the forest.

Speaking of weapons, he forgot about the wooden spear he had gotten from the random pouches. Where'd it go?

A few seconds after Alfie thought of the wooden spear, a large object bonked his head from above.

Considering he had just recovered from a head injury it didn't seem to hurt in the slightest. It was a strange thing he would explore later.

For now, the wooden spear lying on the ground intrigued him more. The wooden spear had manifested from thin air, was it due to him thinking about it?

A few minutes of experimentation revealed that it was indeed the case. A few seconds after he expressed his desire to find the spear it manifested somewhere in a meter radius.

With a little practice, he managed to be able to summon the spear into his hands constantly. Though Alfie learned that if something was obstructing the location the spear was gonna be it would simply not appear.

Without even noticing he managed to spend 20 minutes just experimenting and learning about his spear's ability.

He had nearly forgotten his task of summoning his first 100 subjects. More than a fighter or king, Alfie was truly more suited to be a researcher.

In fact, that was exactly the job he had been aiming for back on earth. A simple life just focusing on research.

He missed the peacefulness of earth, but he'd be lying if the mysteriousness of his new reality didn't excite him.

Other than his goal of reuniting with Lucia and the kids, he wanted nothing more than to figure out the secrets of the multiverse.

But to do so, he needed power. So with no further ado, he made his way to the archway with Fawn trailing behind.

3 Generals, 5 Builders, 1 doctor, and 1 governor. Those were the 10 professions Alfie decided upon for his first day.

The majority consisted of Builders since currently there wasn't any infrastructure for anything.

From Fawn's info, a group of 5 builders and approximately 70 ordinary workers would be able to build enough sleeping quarters by the end of the day.

Alfie had no idea how on earth that would be possible but he trusted her.

After lying out numerous blueprints, weapons, and tools Alfie began the summoning process.

Out of all 100 summons, not a single one had activated a second star. It highlighted the drastic contrast between them and the duo of Fawn and Ivory even further in Alfie's mind.

After a few minutes of explanations and instructions, the 100 men and women were all delegated to their tasks.

The professionals were self-sufficient enough to work without Alfie's constant instruction, and if they had any issues it would go to the governor, then to Fawn, then finally to Alfie.

Alfie had effectively delegated most of his tasks which left him with a bunch of free time. It wasn't out of laziness that he forwarded his task to others, no it was simply because he found something more important.

While rummaging through his pocket space to bring out the necessary tools and such he had stumbled upon a book that struck his interest.

'The absolute basics of Spiritual energy cultivation'.
