Chương 103: Chapter 103 (edited)

Before Clark returned, taking advantage of having some free time at home, Kara gained a deeper understanding and proficiency with the two new super abilities she had awakened.

Kara discovered that when she shrank to the size of an ant, her attack power became even more terrifying due to the heightened impact force and concentrated energy.

To put it simply, even if an ordinary person shrank to the size of an ant, their punch would be almost as powerful as a bullet, easily penetrating a person's body.

For someone like Kara, the results were exponentially more impressive.

If she didn't consciously control her strength to "protect" herself from causing unintentional destruction, even landing on the ground could trigger a significant earthquake, and a punch could effortlessly pierce through the earth.

On the other hand, growing larger increased her overall strength and durability, creating even more devastating power.

When smaller, her power was concentrated and precise—akin to a sniper rifle. When larger, it was widespread, similar to the destructive force of a missile.

For now, this was what she had managed to understand about her abilities.

Additionally, shrinking to a smaller size provided tactical advantages. For instance, being nearly invisible at ant size allowed Kara to move freely and use her powers without being detected.

"If I'd had this power in Gotham, dealing with Joker would have been so much easier," Kara thought, though she was grateful to have the ability now.

The next day, as Martha had said, Clark returned from Metropolis.

The siblings hadn't seen each other in a while, and their reunion was lively as they shared their experiences.

That evening, after dinner, they went to their secret base—a secluded island—to relax and train together.

The games they played were anything but ordinary. Only here, away from prying eyes, could they unleash their true power without holding back.

"Clark, let's see if you've gotten rusty!" Kara called out as she lunged toward him.

Clark, always ready for a challenge, responded immediately, raising his hands to meet her attack.

The siblings' hands collided with a loud "bang," the shockwave stirring the surrounding sea into turbulence.

On Earth, there were very few beings capable of matching their strength. For Kara and Clark, this sparring was a chance to fight without restraint.

Kara refrained from using any advanced fighting techniques at first, instead opting for a basic test of strength. The two hovered mid-air, their feet off the ground, their hands locked as they wrestled.

Initially, Kara held back, unsure of how much Clark had grown since their last match. But she quickly realized that her younger brother had improved significantly.

Clark, ten years younger than Kara, had always struggled to match her strength. Yet now, standing before her at an impressive 6'4" (1.92 meters), he was no longer the little boy she remembered.

For a moment, Kara hesitated, staring at Clark in awe. He had grown taller than her 6'2" (1.9 meters) and had become a formidable opponent.

Noticing her distraction, Clark hesitated, his grip loosening.

Kara smirked. "Now!"

With a sudden burst of strength, she pushed him down hard, slamming him into the ground. The island shook under the impact.

Clark lay sprawled on the ground, groaning in defeat. "That doesn't count, Kara. You cheated!"

Kara crossed her arms, laughing. "Cheated? You're the one who got distracted. If I were an enemy, you'd be dead, Clark."

Clark sat up, his face a mix of annoyance and determination. "You were distracted first! Let's go again!"

Kara extended a hand to pull him up, smiling. "Fine, but don't say I didn't warn you."

They locked hands again, but this time, Kara didn't hold back. Knowing Clark's limits, she applied overwhelming force from the start.

Clark's face turned red as he struggled against her strength.

"Still think you can beat me?" Kara teased, her tone playful but firm. "I'm your sister, Clark. Ten years may not seem like much, but it'll always be a gap you can't cross."

Despite his efforts, Clark couldn't hold on and was pushed to the ground once more.

Admitting defeat, he sighed.

"Don't feel bad," Kara said, helping him up. "You're getting stronger. Now let's test your skills."

They transitioned to martial arts training. Over the years, Kara had taught Clark techniques from taekwondo, karate, Muay Thai, and even more traditional styles like tai chi and bājíquán.

On the island, the siblings sparred freely, letting go of any restraints. Kara held back enough to avoid injuring Clark, using their matches as an opportunity to build his combat experience.

The final part of their training involved testing their super abilities.

Both Kara and Clark had heat vision and super breath, but there were differences. Clark's heat vision was red, while Kara's was a vibrant blue, possibly due to differences in their physiology.

They practiced their super breath, creating hurricanes and freezing gales that temporarily turned the island into a winter wonderland.

Lastly, Kara reviewed Clark's progress with magic. While his mastery of elemental magic was minimal, his telekinesis had improved significantly.

"Remember, Clark," Kara said, "telekinesis is your best defense against magical attacks. Refine it further."

Clark nodded earnestly. "I will, Kara. I promise."

Kara smiled, ruffling his hair. "Good. You're making me proud."

As the sun began to set, the siblings decided to head home.

However, just as they were about to leave, a group of uninvited guests arrived on the island.

Chương 104: Chapter 104 (edited)

In order to avoid being discovered and to take care of their adoptive father, Jonathan, Kara and Clark would only visit this uninhabited, mysterious island at night, even though it served as their hidden base.

It wasn't the first time they had been here, but typically, they played for a while before leaving.

Tonight was different. They had engaged in a less intense contest than usual—though still terrifying by human standards—which had led to unexpected events.

As Kara and Clark prepared to leave, a group of dark shadows began moving stealthily toward them under the cover of night.

Suddenly, Kara turned her head sharply.

Thanks to her super vision, Kara could see clearly even in the darkest depths of the ocean. Now, she observed an ugly and bizarre creature approaching them. The beings were humanoid but resembled some sort of fish more than anything else.

They were not only hideous but also terrifying. Their hands were clawed, sharp fins protruded from their shoulders and arms, and their backs displayed jagged, fin-like structures reminiscent of a saber-toothed dragon.

The moment these creatures realized Kara had spotted them, they opened their grotesque mouths and let out ear-piercing, inhuman shrieks. They quickened their pace, rushing toward the siblings.

Kara frowned.

Clark noticed the approaching creatures and quickly asked, "What are those?"

Kara shook her head without answering. Her eyes narrowed, releasing a brilliant blue heat vision ray that streaked toward the monsters.

Clark mirrored his sister's reaction. Hovering beside her, his eyes began to glow red before unleashing bright, fiery heat rays in another direction. Together, the siblings floated side by side, their combined heat vision carving through the attackers like lasers.

Clark's heat vision reached temperatures of hundreds of degrees, while Kara's was close to fifteen hundred degrees—powerful enough to instantly reduce the monstrous creatures to molten remains. With their precise aim, they efficiently eliminated every target.

"They chose the wrong people to mess with," Kara sneered, her tone laced with confidence. While she may have recognized the origin of these monsters, she dismissed any concern, treating them as insignificant threats.

What Kara didn't voice was the creatures' connection to humanity. These beings were remnants of the Atlanteans—the Trench People—who had lost their humanity and reason, degenerating into monstrous predators.

Kara quickly pieced together the mystery of this island. It was located within Trench territory, which explained its eerie isolation.

For ordinary humans, encountering these Trench creatures would mean terror or certain death. For Kara and Clark, however, the creatures were nothing more than an inconvenience, wiped out in moments.

When no more creatures emerged from the sea, the siblings finally ceased their attacks, their heat vision fading.

Clark hovered above the remains, using his super vision to examine the creatures' bodies. His expression turned to one of shock.

"Kara," he said, "these things… they're human, aren't they?"

Clark's microscopic vision confirmed it. Despite their grotesque appearance, the Trench People still retained human genetic structures, remnants of their Atlantean and human lineage.

Kara glanced at her brother. "Let's go. They might carry some kind of disease. Come home with me."

Clark hesitated.

"What is it now?" Kara asked impatiently.

"We… we killed them," Clark said, clearly troubled. "If they were human—"

Kara cut him off with a sharp look. "Clark, listen to me. If you follow the theory of evolution, everything on this planet came from the same single-cell ancestor. Does that mean you feel bad every time you eat beef? Or chicken? Studies even suggest that plants feel pain. Do you feel guilty eating carrots or potatoes?"

She continued, her voice firm but tinged with exasperation. "We make these distinctions between meat and vegetables, but in the end, we're taking lives to survive. Humans are no exception. We just happen to be at the top of the food chain."

Clark looked unconvinced, but Kara pressed on. "Those creatures wanted to kill us, Clark. They weren't going to hesitate. If you're feeling guilty, then maybe this place isn't for you. But don't come crying to me when you start second-guessing yourself while they're trying to rip you apart."

Her tone softened slightly. "Come on. Let's go home."

Clark sighed but followed his sister.

Despite her words, Kara felt a flicker of unease. She didn't want to turn this into a philosophical debate, nor did she want Clark to become cynical like her. Jonathan had always hoped Clark would grow into a symbol of hope—a savior for humanity.

Kara, however, saw herself differently. She wasn't bound by the same ideals. Her methods and beliefs were more extreme, driven by pragmatism rather than ideals of morality.

Even so, she couldn't bring herself to burden Clark with her views. For now, it was enough to know he was safe.

As they flew away from the island, Kara glanced back at the dark waters below. The Trench People were a reminder of how fragile humanity could be—and how dangerous it was to underestimate the unknown.
