Chương 341: Chapter 341: The Nth Quadruple-Double

Wade Dong secured a defensive rebound and quickly dribbled the ball up the court.

Marion, Calderon, Middleton, and Ellis surrounded Dong, attempting to stop his advance.

Dong skillfully maneuvered past Calderon, then, near the free-throw line, he spun between Middleton and Marion.

Only Ellis remained, trying to keep up with Dong's pace.

As Dong reached the basket, he feinted a layup, only to pull the ball back at the last moment and pass it behind his back to Durant, who was wide open.

"Bang!!!"

Durant received Dong's pass and slammed home a one-armed dunk!

The score was now 70-41!

The Mavericks trailed by 29 points, and their chances of winning seemed slim. However, under Nowitzki's leadership, they refused to give up.

The Mavericks initiated their offense.

Nowitzki tried to isolate Dong in the post but passed the ball out to Middleton on the three-point line when he couldn't find a good shot.

"Swish!!!"

Middleton launched a three-pointer, and it finally went in.

Soon after, Curry made a bad pass, which Middleton intercepted. He quickly drove to the basket for a fast-break layup.

Dong took a couple of steps forward, thinking of Middleton as his little brother. He slowed down near the three-point line, allowing Middleton to score the easy layup.

Calderon: (T▽T)

Even though they were teammates, Dong didn't block Middleton's shot, which saddened Calderon.

Given the distance between Middleton and Dong, Calderon believed that Dong could have easily blocked Middleton's shot, especially considering how close Dong was to achieving a quadruple-double.

The score was now 70-46!

Middleton's consecutive scores brought the Mavericks back within 24 points, the same deficit they had at halftime.

The Suns had the ball.

Dong received the pass in the mid-range area and quickly passed it out to Carter on the three-point line.

"G~~~"

Carter's three-point attempt missed.

Dong drove to the basket, outjumping Nowitzki for the offensive rebound, and finished with a putback dunk!

The score was now 72-46!

Coach Carlisle of the Mavericks was getting anxious. At this rate, the Mavericks couldn't make up the deficit.

Warrick held the stat sheet, constantly writing '+1' for Wade Dong's points, rebounds, and assists. In the early minutes of the second half, Dong already had 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist, and he was just a few away from double-doubles in rebounds and assists.

Middleton then hit two consecutive three-pointers.

The score was now 72-52!

With 11 straight points, Middleton and the Mavericks had reduced the deficit to 20 points.

"That's how you do it, kid," Dong encouraged Middleton as he dribbled the ball up the court. "Players from the Suns can't let down their former team. →"

"Yeah, yeah~~~"

Middleton nodded vigorously.

And then Dong blew past him!

As soon as Dong got past Middleton, Marion quickly collapsed into the paint to help Nowitzki defend against Dong.

But this left Curry open on the perimeter. Dong didn't even look in Curry's direction; he just passed the ball to him.

"Swish!!!"

Curry caught the ball and sank a three-pointer.

Five minutes into the third quarter, the score was 85-63!

The Mavericks were still down by 22 points, but Dong had accumulated 7 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal in those five minutes.

Warrick looked at Dong's stats: 29 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, 7 blocks, and 4 steals. He shouted to Dong, "Dong, you're just 3 blocks away from a quadruple-double!"

"Hey, you..."

Dong glared at Warrick, "Can you keep it down? The Mavericks might hear you and think I'm just a stat-padder."

The entire Mavericks team: "???"

They wanted to argue with Dong. Wasn't he a stat-padder? But they didn't dare to speak up, fearing that Dong might get triggered and rack up 6 more steals to get another quintuple-double.

After learning that Dong was just 3 blocks away from a quadruple-double, Calderon drove to the basket again, only to have his shot blocked by Dong!

Calderon: "???"

Calderon didn't mean to do it, but it seemed like he was deliberately passing the ball to Dong. He knew Dong was defending the paint, but after getting past Curry, he still opted for a layup.

On this block, Dong swatted the ball, which bounced off the rim and was grabbed by Marion, who had rushed in.

Marion, with the ball, jumped up for a two-handed dunk.

"Clap!!!"

Dong, who had just landed, jumped again and forcefully blocked Marion's dunk attempt.

The referee hesitated, not blowing the whistle. From his angle, it looked like Dong had committed a foul.

However, it was a ball-and-hand contact, and such plays are usually not called... especially since Dong was about to achieve a quadruple-double. If the referee called a foul on Dong, it would negate one of his blocks.

Moreover, this was the Suns' home court, and the referee was inclined to let the play go.

On this block, Dong swatted the ball out of bounds. The Mavericks inbounded the ball, and Nowitzki, guarded by Green, received the pass and made the shot.

The score was now 85-65!

The deficit was back to 20 points.

Nowitzki knew that if they could reduce the deficit to within 15 points by the end of the third quarter, they would have a chance to win.

If the third quarter ended and they were still down by more than 20 points, the game would essentially be over, and the fourth quarter would be garbage time.

"Defense!"

Nowitzki clapped his hands as he retreated on defense, encouraging his teammates, "Stop the Suns' offense and cut the deficit to 15 points, and we can win this game."

"Let's go! Let's go! Let's go!"

The entire Mavericks team cheered to boost their morale.

Dong received the baseline inbound pass and dribbled up the court. He pulled up for a three-pointer, two steps behind the three-point line.

"Swish!!!"

The ball swished through the net.

The score was now 88-65!

The Mavericks: "???"

The deficit had widened again, but the Mavericks didn't lose hope. Middleton received the pass in the mid-range area, shook off Green's defense, and passed to Calderon, who had cut to the basket.

Calderon went up for the layup.

"Clap!!!"

Dong flew in from behind Calderon and swatted the ball out of bounds.

Calderon: "???"

He was feeling emo. Why was Dong letting Middleton's fast-break layup go but blocking his shots?

Dong now had 10 blocks!

After this block, Dong's stats froze at 32 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, 10 blocks, and 4 steals.

"Clap! Clap! Clap!"

"Clap! Clap! Clap!"

"Clap! Clap! Clap!"

All the fans stood up and applauded, congratulating Dong on achieving yet another quadruple-double.
