Nova's eyes locked onto mine, her expression guarded. "Rachel wants to meet at the old warehouse on 5th and Main." Maya frowned.
"Too risky," Maya said. "It's a trap." Nova nodded.
"I agree, but Ethan needs answers." Nova turned to me. "You ready for this?"
I steeled myself. "Let's do it." We arrived at the warehouse, the dimly lit interior eerily silent. Rachel waited, her eyes watchful.
"Ethan, I'm glad you came," Rachel said, her voice measured. "I have something to show you." Nova positioned herself between us.
"What is it?" Nova asked, her hand resting on her gun. Rachel smiled wryly.
"A recording. Proof of the conspiracy." Rachel handed me a small device. I hesitated, then pressed play.
A voice, distorted and unrecognizable, spoke of the Eclipse Project's true purpose. My heart sank. This was bigger than I'd imagined.
Suddenly, footsteps echoed outside. Rachel's eyes flickered to the door.
"It's them," Nova whispered, drawing her gun. "We have to get out of here."
