Meanwhile, Arin watches in hiding Dean fought the bear, after seeing the bear sent Dean flying and seeing him get hurt, He almost rushed out to skewer the bear on his sword, but decides to watch after seeing have the Dean have the upper hand, he stood still to watch how it unfolds.
"You did well son," Arin commended. As he came out of his hiding place, handing Dean a bottle of water.
"Aaargh, I think i broke by ribs. Dean groaned after taking gulps of water.
"But you shouldn't have gone for such a risky move. Arin suggested. Recalling when Dean dived from top of the tree.
"I was desperate and did not know what to do. Dean replied.
"Your mom is gonna be very mad at me for letting you get injured. Arin said.
"Anyways, this battle will be a boon to your ascension to the next stage". "I noticed you becoming more better in using your magic during the fight". Arin commended.
"What do we do now". Dean asked looking at the already dead bear.
"Let me make a sleigh with some branches". Arin replied.
"I'll help". Dean offered getting up.
"No, Dean, you should sit down and recuperate". Arin replied. getting to cut the branches needed.
After some minutes he came back, carrying branches of various sizes he is going to use.
"Done". Arin exclaimed after constructing the sleigh.
"We have got no animals to pull so we are going to do that ourselves". He added.
Let's leave before night falls. Dean commented looking at the sun. it seems it late afternoon from position of the sun.
"Yes, I don't want your mother to scold me". Arin replied holding one of the sleigh handles.
They then proceeded to carry their kill into sleigh and began the long and slow journey home.
"Dad, when do I have the same powers as you". Dean asked.
"When you are more mature and ready son after we find who is the mastermind behind our family's destruction". Arin replied.
Arin frequently mentioned that to Dean that the reason living so close to the Darkhelm forest and far from people was that their family were destroyed by unknown images who are after them.
The unknown enemy is constantly hunting for their whereabouts since the moment of Dean's birth.
Arin realizing he is no match for whoever destroyed his family, one of the most powerful noble house in the empire, decides to flee and come back when he is powerful enough.
After walking for about two hours, they finally came within seeing distance of their home.
"We are home". Arin declared.
"Finally, I am so tired". Dean responded.
Subsequently, on reaching the walls of their home. Arin proceeded to tap on a rock lying near a tree activation an enchantment that alerted Laura of their arrival.
In the following moments, Laura came and unlock the enchantment, opening the gate. Arin and Dean came with their kill in tow.
"Welcome back". Laura acknowledges.
"What happened," she questioned after seeing the disheveled and injured Dean.
"He was injured when fighting the bear". Arin responded.
"And you weren't there". Laura countered.
"I decides to let him have experience in hunting beasts". Arin replied.
"That doesn't mean you should let him get injured". Laura fired back.
"You know what, let's talk about this some other time I have work to do". Arin said thinking of a way to escape from his wife.
Meanwhile Dean left his parents and went into his room as he listens to his parents banter.
"I am sorry my dear, let me see your wounds". Laura spoke softly as she enters his room.
Dean groans as he gets up but Laura offers to help him take off his torn clothes.
"I'll be right back". she enunciated.
"Dean as your defeated the bear, what part will you want to keep as your trophy". Arin inquired.
"The canines and coat". He answered.
"Fine then". Arin replied as he leaves.
Shortly after, Laura returns with a cloth and water in a bowl which she use to clean the blood stains from Dean's body. Thereafter, she apply a potion on his wounds and broken ribs.
"That will reduce the pain". Laura reminded.
"Thank you mum". Dean whispered.
"I'll let yo sleep dear, you seem tired". She muttered as she stood up to leave.
As she left, an exhausted Dean quickly dozes off, thinking about the world.
