Chapter 67: I have to see girls every day!

_____

After slamming the door of the room, Rin Matsuoka realized he had forgotten to bring his notebook.

"…Forget it, just leave it in the room. You can't use it in the classroom anyway."

[A new day begins when you leave the room. Please cheer up, because you're about to meet an extremely rare beautiful girl in the elevator.]

The narration's words lifted Rin's spirits, and the sleepiness in his head began to fade. He wasn't shy; he simply wanted to enjoy and appreciate a beautiful girl.

After all, as an old man once said:

"I look at girls every day, without any ulterior motives—just to make me happy!"

A happy mood helped that old man live a long life, so looking at beautiful girls is the simplest and cheapest way to boost longevity!

With the joy of meeting a beautiful girl, Rin made his way to the elevator and stood by the entrance. Soon enough, the elevator reached his floor.

With a ding, the door opened, and Rin's smile paused slightly.

"Hey, isn't this Rin? What a coincidence, you haven't gone to class yet either."

The girl in the elevator flashed him a sweet and lovely smile.

"Well... I got up a little late," Rin responded somewhat woodenly. He stepped into the elevator, unusually quiet, with no intention of engaging further.

This girl was pretty... but she was Kushida Kikyo!

The girl who made Rin feel uncomfortable!

Kushida Kikyo looked at Rin, who seemed sleepy and listless, and asked with great concern, "Matsuoka-san, you look very tired. Didn't you sleep well last night?"

"Oh yeah, I didn't fall asleep until two or three in the morning," he replied.

"How could you go to bed so late? You'll get dark circles under your eyes and won't be energetic in class."

"You're right," Rin said, answering perfunctorily, feeling sleepiness creeping in once again.

"..." Kushida Kikyo could tell that the boy named 'Rin Matsuoka' was really tired; otherwise, why would he be so dismissive toward her?

Kushida Kikyo wasn't exaggerating—she knew she was pretty, with a good figure to match. No boy had ever looked sleepy when talking to her.

The elevator reached the first floor, and Kushida Kikyo, being considerate, spoke to Rin again.

"Come on, Matsuoka, cheer up. We're here—the elevator stopped. Let's go."

"Oh..."

Rin walked toward the first-year teaching building with sluggish steps. Kushida Kikyo walked beside him, her sweet and lovely face glowing with a smile, her ample chest bouncing slightly as she walked—a sight that was truly pleasing to the eye.

Unfortunately, Rin was too sleepy to notice the beautiful scenery around him.

"…"

Realizing that Rin hadn't even glanced at her, Kushida Kikyo felt helpless. She gave up on her tiptoeing, playful way of walking and returned to her normal pace.

Kushida Kikyo had wanted to use her charm to attract this 'Rin Matsuoka,' but it wasn't that she wasn't trying—it was that her target was simply out of it!

Rin and Kushida Kikyo changed into indoor shoes at the shoe locker area and made their way to the first-year D class classroom.

Inside the classroom, Horikita Suzune sat upright, engrossed in the book she was flipping through. Most of the other students in Class D gathered in groups of three or four, chatting about the interesting things and discoveries they had come across at the school.

Horikita Suzune, who seemed to possess an uncanny radar, raised her eyes toward the classroom door. She saw Rin Matsuoka walking in with half-closed, sleepy eyes, and Kushida Kikyo following closely behind him.

Soon after, Horikita withdrew her gaze from Rin. He sat down in his seat and let out a loud yawn.

As everyone knows, yawning is contagious. Just hearing Rin yawn caused Horikita's thin, crystal-clear lips to part slightly as she stifled one herself.

With quick reflexes, Horikita raised her hand to cover her mouth as she yawned silently. Afterward, she shot Rin an irritated glare. It was all his fault—he made her yawn!

Rin was still feeling groggy, his head light due to the fatigue from staying up late and the lingering effects of using his personal quality enhancement points.

Horikita hadn't slept well the night before either. She'd spent a long time tossing and turning in bed, unable to fall asleep due to her attachment to its comfort. She was slightly sleep-deprived.

Rin yawned again, and Horikita found herself fighting the urge to do the same. She pressed her lips together tightly, trying hard to resist the contagious drowsiness he radiated.

Forcing herself to concentrate, she focused on the book in her hands, determined not to pay any more attention to Rin, who sat next to her.

Soon, the bell rang, signaling the start of class. The cool and composed homeroom teacher, Chabashira Sae, dressed in a dignified women's suit, stepped into the room.

Chabashira's arrival caused the students in Class D to stop talking and sit up straight. The classroom fell silent immediately.

The students were all extremely wary of their homeroom teacher, with three exceptions:

The bored Rokusuke Koenji.

Sudo Ken, whose rebellious attitude was written all over his face.

And Rin Matsuoka, still yawning.

Chabashira walked to the podium and surveyed the classroom, her gaze resting on the drowsy Rin for a brief moment.

She then retracted her gaze and, with a cold tone, announced, "Today is your second day of school and the first day of formal classes."

"What I want to tell you is that there will be a midterm exam in forty days. It will cover four subjects: History, Mathematics, Science, and English."

"So, I expect everyone to study hard for the upcoming midterm."

With that, Chabashira officially began the lesson.

The subject she taught was Japanese history, which included topics like Japanese history, world history, and national defense. Additionally, it encompassed politics, economics, geography, sociology, and other disciplines.

It covered an exceptionally broad range of knowledge.

Chabashira stood at the podium, explaining the textbook's contents in a cold voice, while Rin remained the only one in the room still drowsy.

As for the other students?

At first, they all listened attentively to Chabashira's lecture. However, whether due to a lack of focus or because her teaching style wasn't engaging enough, they eventually began to get distracted, each student engaging in small actions of their own.

Before long, faint sounds of conversation filled the classroom, blending with Chabashira's steady, cold voice.
