Chương 3: Chapter 3: The Room of Power

Reiji stood at the threshold of the circular room, his breath catching in his throat as he took in the sight before him. The room was unlike anything he had encountered in the mansion so far. It was as though he had stepped into a different world entirely—a hidden sanctuary preserved by time and untouched by the decay that had consumed the rest of the building.

The stone walls of the room curved smoothly toward the domed ceiling, where a single round window allowed a thin, silvery beam of moonlight to penetrate the darkness. The air here was thick with a palpable energy, a force that seemed to hum just below the surface, waiting to be acknowledged. Reiji could feel it, an electric tension that made the hair on his arms stand on end.

At the center of the room stood a pedestal, carved from a block of marble so pristine it seemed to glow under the moonlight. The pedestal was simple in design, yet there was something almost reverent about the way it stood, as if it had been placed there to hold something of immense importance. And upon it, arranged in a deliberate, almost ritualistic pattern, were seven rings.

Reiji's breath quickened as his eyes locked onto the rings. They were unlike any jewelry he had ever seen—each one intricately designed, crafted from a dark, silver-black metal that gleamed in the light. The rings seemed to pulse with an inner life, as though they were waiting for something… or someone.

He hesitated, his mind racing with questions. What were these rings? Why were they here, in this forgotten mansion, in a room so well-preserved compared to the rest of the building? And why did they seem to call out to him, beckoning him closer?

Despite the questions swirling in his mind, Reiji felt an undeniable pull toward the rings. It was as if something deep within him recognized their significance, even though he couldn't yet understand it. His feet moved almost of their own accord, carrying him closer to the pedestal until he was standing directly before it, the rings just within reach.

For a moment, he simply stood there, his gaze moving from one ring to the next. Each one was unique, yet they all shared the same dark, metallic hue and the same intricate engraving of three dots at the top, with a different symbol etched below. The designs were both beautiful and mysterious, like something out of a legend or an ancient myth.

Reiji's hand hovered above the first ring, a shield-shaped piece with the image of a cloud etched beneath the three dots. The metal felt cold to the touch, but there was something more—a heaviness in the air, as if the atmosphere around him had thickened. The sensation was almost oppressive, a weight pressing down on him from all sides. It was as if he were standing beneath an endless sky, vast and unyielding, and the sheer magnitude of it threatened to crush him.

He withdrew his hand quickly, his heart racing. The feeling was unsettling, overwhelming in its intensity. He couldn't shake the sense that this ring embodied something far greater than himself, something beyond his understanding. The heaviness lingered in the air around him, even as he moved on to the next ring.

This one was also shield-shaped, with the same three dots at the top, but the symbol below was different—a swirling mist, or perhaps fog, curling in an indistinct pattern. Reiji hesitated before touching it, half-expecting another overwhelming sensation. When his fingers finally brushed against the metal, a shiver ran down his spine.

The air around him shifted, becoming elusive and disorienting. It was as though the room itself had dissolved into mist, leaving him lost in a thick, impenetrable fog. His vision blurred, and for a brief moment, he felt as though he were floating in an endless void, cut off from the world. The sensation was disconcerting, a disconnection from reality that made his heart pound in his chest. But just as quickly as it had come, the feeling faded, leaving him standing once more in the circular room, the ring still in its place on the pedestal.

Reiji's breath was shaky as he moved on to the third ring. This one bore a jagged, chaotic line beneath the three dots—a depiction of lightning, frozen in metal. He wasn't sure what to expect, but he couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation as he reached for it. The moment his fingers made contact, a sharp jolt ran through him, as though he had been struck by a sudden surge of electricity.

The sensation was not painful, but it was startling—an abrupt, intense burst of energy that left him feeling jittery and on edge. His nerves tingled with static, and he could feel his pulse racing, adrenaline flooding his system. It was like being shocked awake from a deep sleep, his senses suddenly heightened, alert to even the smallest of sounds. He let go of the ring almost immediately, his hand trembling as the energy slowly dissipated.

Each ring seemed to carry a different sensation, a unique energy that resonated with something deep within him. The fourth ring was no exception. As he reached for it, he noticed the symbol beneath the three dots—a depiction of the sun, radiating light and warmth. The moment his fingers touched the metal, a wave of warmth spread through him, soothing and comforting.

This warmth was not just physical; it was something deeper, a gentle, nurturing heat that seemed to come from within. It reminded him of standing under a bright, midday sun, the kind of warmth that could lull a person into a peaceful sleep. The sensation was pleasant, even calming, and for a moment, he found himself reluctant to let go. But even as he enjoyed the warmth, he could sense the power it held—a power that could easily burn if mishandled. He released the ring with a sense of unease, aware that the gentleness of the sun could just as easily become a scorching fire.

Reiji's hand hovered above the fifth ring, its design featuring a single drop of water beneath the three dots. When he touched it, the coolness of the metal was immediately apparent, a stark contrast to the warmth of the previous ring. The coolness was soothing, almost relaxing, and as he held the ring, he felt a sense of tranquility wash over him.

It was like standing in the rain, the cool droplets cascading down his skin, calming his mind and easing his tension. The sensation was gentle, yet it carried an undercurrent of immense strength, like the quiet force of a river carving its way through solid rock. There was a deep, enduring power within the ring, a power that flowed with the grace and persistence of water. Reiji lingered on this one, savoring the peace it offered, before finally moving on.

The sixth ring drew his attention with its depiction of a tornado, a symbol of chaos and destruction. The moment he touched it, he felt a rush of energy, wild and uncontrollable. It was like standing in the eye of a storm, surrounded by swirling winds and flying debris. The energy was intense, almost overwhelming, and it filled him with a sense of exhilaration, a thrill that was both exciting and terrifying.

The power within this ring was unpredictable, a force of nature that could not be tamed. It was a reminder of the destructive potential of the elements, a reminder that nature could be both beautiful and deadly. Reiji quickly let go of the ring, his heart pounding from the adrenaline that surged through him.

Finally, his eyes fell on the last ring—the one that was different from all the others. It was round, not shield-shaped, and the emblem etched into its surface was unfamiliar to him. This ring seemed to draw him in, its presence almost magnetic. There was something about it that felt… right, as if it had been waiting for him all along.

Reiji hesitated, sensing that this ring was different, that it held something more. The other rings had tested him, challenged him, but this one seemed to resonate with him on a deeper level. It was as if the ring recognized him, as if it had been waiting for him to find it.

When Reiji finally touched the last ring, a wave of emotions surged through him—hope, fear, determination, and a deep sense of responsibility. It was as if the ring was alive, resonating with his very soul. The energy it emitted was powerful yet calming, a soothing presence that filled him with a sense of purpose.

As he slipped the ring onto his finger, everything changed in an instant. The room around him seemed to shift, the air growing heavier with anticipation. Suddenly, the ring began to glow with an intense orange light, casting an ethereal glow that illuminated the entire chamber. Reiji's heart pounded in his chest as the light intensified, filling every corner of the room.

Before he could fully comprehend what was happening, a static voice echoed in his mind, fragmented and distant, yet unmistakably clear: "Trial… Sky… Holder…"

The words reverberated through his thoughts, a cryptic message that left him feeling both intrigued and uneasy. Reiji barely had time to react before the room dissolved into darkness, the marble walls and pedestal vanishing as if they had never existed. He found himself standing in a vast, empty void, the only source of light being the ring now pulsating on his finger.

As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he noticed something strange. Surrounding him were six large doors, each one standing tall and imposing, spaced evenly in a circular formation around him. Above each door hovered a ring—identical in design to the one he wore, yet each radiating a different, distinct energy.

Reiji's gaze shifted from one door to the next, recognizing the symbols he had seen on the rings before. The Cloud, the Mist, the Lightning, the Sun, the Rain, and the Storm—all were represented by the rings above the doors. He realized with a start that these were the very rings he had encountered earlier, and now they were part of some sort of trial.

He looked down and noticed the floor beneath him, previously shrouded in shadow, now illuminated by a faint, orange glow emanating from the ring. As the light grew brighter, the intricate design of the Vongola logo appeared beneath his feet, a symbol of the legacy he had unknowingly stumbled into.

As he took a hesitant step forward, the static voice returned, more insistent this time: "Sky… The one who binds… The one who unites… Prove your worth…"

Reiji's mind raced. This was a trial—a test of some sort. The ring he now wore wasn't just an artifact; it was a key, a gateway to something far greater than himself.

With a deep breath, Reiji steeled himself, knowing that whatever lay beyond those doors would test him in ways he couldn't yet imagine. This wasn't just about power; it was about proving his worth, not just to the ring, but to the legacy it represented. The other rings, the ones he had felt but not yet understood, were part of this test, each leading to closer look of the legacy.

And with that realization, Reiji felt a sense of calm settle over him. The ring had chosen him, and with it came a power and responsibility that he could barely comprehend. But now, standing in this mysterious chamber, he knew he had no choice but to face the trial ahead. Whatever challenges awaited him, he would have to confront them head-on. His destiny was now entwined with the rings, and he would do whatever it took to prove himself worthy of the power he had been given.
