Chương 4: Ch 4: Awakening
The next day, that old man appeared again and took all the people trapped in this cell out. While taking them toward another room in this underground place, he started to tell them in a disinterested way about what was going to happen to them after this.
It turned out that the source of cultivation talent, spiritual roots were naturally only awakened between the age of 10 and 15. But there were ways for this awakening to happen artificially.
Righteous sects normally did not use those kinds of methods as that might hurt the cultivation potential of a disciple but a demonic sect like this gave no regard to that.
So today, all the children here were going to have their spiritual roots forcefully awakened. There was a chance that it might harm them but the one getting harmed would not have good talent for cultivation anyways so he would just be killed afterwards.
Most of the children here were scared about what was going to happen to them next but at the same time they were also a little bit exacted as now they would be able to cultivate like immortals from legends.
Li Feng was also looking forward to it and he was not worried about the damage to his potential. Even in the worst case scenario, he could use his upgradation tokens to solve the problem. He had already asked the system and had learned that he would be able to use the ultimate token on his spiritual root as a little bonus for the host.

After walking for 20 minutes, everyone appeared in front of a room at the end of this long corridor. The old man opened the room and all the children entered it following behind him. There was nothing in that room except for a red orb and as soon as Rein saw that he got notified by the system that an advanced card could be used on this orb.
This was actually the first object Li Feng had seen which could be upgraded by an advanced card. But as this was not something he owned so he was not foolish enough to waste his precious cards on it.
That old man used some kind of technique and activated this red orb. It started glowing with an eerie red light which quickly filled the whole dark room. This creepy light made the already scary room to become even more scary.
Li Feng then suddenly started to feel a burning sensation in his chest. After that suddenly a strong sense of pain assaulted him. This pain was quite bad but Li Feng was able to endure it as in his previous life he had the experience of breaking quite a few of his bones in an accident.
He was not the only one who was feeling this pain as all the children around him were screaming in pain. But fortunately this pain did not last for very long. After just a few moments, all the pain suddenly disappeared. The system notified Li Feng that his spiritual root had awakened and now he was able to use an ultimate upgradation card on it.
But obviously this was not the right time or place to use that card so Li Feng hid his happiness and excitement in his heart. Very soon all the other children present were also done with their awakening and the screaming stopped.
A total of 28 children participated in this process and 20 among them had succeeded. The remaining 8 students who had failed suddenly started melting and turned into blackish red blood. The elder standing in the room calmly absorbed all that blood inside his body and left the room as if nothing happened. This scary scene immediately destroyed all the happiness and excitement that these children were feeling at that time.
Then when that old demon told them to follow him, all 20 of them started doing just that with fearful steps. They were scared that if this man got displeased by them then he would also kill all of them without batting an eye.

After the awakening was done, all the surviving children were brought out of that underground area. Then the old demon disinterestedly handed them some things and told them that now they had become disciples of the great blood sea sect. There was a booklet with the things that they were given where the rules of the blood sea sect's initialisation was written. Telling them this much he just left.
Li Feng was unsure about what to do next so he decided to read the booklet. On the very first page, what he needed to do next was written. Li Feng needed to collect a bucket full of blood from his fellow disciples who awakened alongside him. Then after submitting that bucket of blood to the old demon who just left, he would be able to truly become a disciple of the blood god sect.
Even though Li Feng knew what he needed to do next he did not attack any of the children here immediately. He still had his upgraded sword with him so these children were not a threat to him. But he started to act as if he was very tired after enduring all that pain from the awakening process.
Li Feng was actually using himself as bait to make someone to attack him. Then he would be able to take blood from that person in self defence. Even though Li Feng was going to enter a demonic sect, he did not want to get rid of his bottom line so easily.
As for where he was hiding his sword, his system has a storage space but in that space he could only put things that had been upgraded using the system. So before upgrading the sword there was nothing there. Just when he found out that his resistance against the demonic cultivators with the sword had no effect, he had immediately stored the sword in that storage area of the system.
Just as Li waited, some of the other children who had also read what was written on the booklet were unable to hold back anymore and started attacking the others. One of them who was standing closer to Li Feng chose to attack him. So Li Feng's plan was definitely a success.
Now what was in store for him in the future ?
