The Celestial Dragon's dog, now cut in half, slid off the bubble car.
Everyone on the street stared wide-eyed, in shock at the sight of the dead dog lying in a pool of blood.
"Oh my god, what did that kid just do?"
"It's over! We're doomed! Let's get out of here before the Celestial Dragon gets angry and we all get dragged into this."
"What about that kid?"
"Why are you worried about him? Just run before we get mixed up in his mess!"
Suddenly, the street erupted into chaos, and everyone scrambled away in fear.
As for Takumi, he glanced with distaste at the blood-soaked roof of the bubble car, stained by the Celestial Dragon's dog.
After thinking for a moment, he turned the car around, deciding to return it.
Meanwhile, the female Celestial Dragon, who had walked some distance away, heard the commotion behind her and stopped. She turned her head and frowned. "What's all that racket? These dirty rats are so noisy!"
"Hm? What's that?" Suddenly, the female Celestial Dragon noticed something lying next to the slave she had shot earlier. It was a small, bloodied body, cut clean in half. She froze, "Wait… why does that look like my precious?"
She immediately looked to her side.
Gone!
Her beloved pug had disappeared!
"Huh? Where's my baby?" Shock flashed across the female Celestial Dragon's face as she hurried back. When she got close enough to see, she was greeted with the sight of her precious dog, lying in two bloody pieces.
Her face darkened with rage.
"How dare someone kill my precious!" She coldly scanned the fleeing crowd, then gave her guards a signal with her eyes.
Two guards quickly grabbed a brown-haired man nearby.
"Please, don't kill me! I had nothing to do with this, I swear!" The man, trembling with fear, fell to his knees before the Celestial Dragon, tears streaming down his face.
The Celestial Dragon, her face twisted with fury, looked down at the groveling man. "Speak! Who did this?"
Terrified, the man pointed at Takumi, who was now riding off into the distance. "It was him! The guy on the bubble car! He killed your dog, not me, I swear!"
The female Celestial Dragon glared at Takumi's retreating figure, her eyes filled with murderous intent. She held out her hand.
One of her guards handed her a gun, fully loaded.
Without a second thought, she shot the man who had been begging for his life, then aimed the gun at Takumi's back and fired several rounds.
To the Celestial Dragons, human life was worthless, less valuable than even their pets.
Takumi sensed the movement behind him.
Just as he was about to place his hand on the hilt of the Sandai Kitetsu, a figure suddenly appeared, moving so fast that in the blink of an eye, they grabbed Takumi's arm and yanked him off the bubble car, right in front of the Celestial Dragon. In an instant, the two disappeared before the bullets could reach Takumi.
The shots missed.
The female Celestial Dragon looked momentarily confused.
"What just happened?" she screamed in rage once she realized. "How dare someone rescue him right under my nose! Guards! I want the one who killed my precious and the one who rescued him caught immediately!"
The guards responded in unison, "Yes, ma'am!"
Meanwhile, Takumi found himself being whisked away at an incredible speed. In the blink of an eye, they were already at the outskirts of the town, near a large red tree marked with the number 20.
"Hahaha, long time no see, Takumi," said the man who had grabbed him.
He was wearing a hooded white coat with several holes, his silver hair falling over his shoulders. He had glasses and a long scar over his right eye.
It was Rayleigh, the man Takumi still owed a drink to.
Takumi hadn't even sensed his presence earlier!
As expected of the Dark King…
Even though Takumi could have handled the situation on his own, as the Celestial Dragon wasn't really a threat, it still would have been a bit troublesome due to her status.
After thinking it over, Takumi nodded slightly and said, "Thanks."
"Hm?" Rayleigh raised an eyebrow, surprised. "Did you just thank someone? Haha, not bad! You've improved a lot since four years ago."
Takumi: "…"
Was this guy doing it on purpose?
With a grin, Rayleigh continued, "You showed up in Sabaody earlier than I expected. Looks like a lot has happened since we last met in Loguetown. Are you still traveling alone?"
"No," Takumi shook his head. "I have two crewmates."
"Oh, that's good," Rayleigh didn't seem surprised. "Having a crew is a good thing. If you kept traveling alone, pushing everyone away and not letting anyone into your life, you'd start having problems eventually."
Takumi: "…"
"Hahaha, alright, I won't lecture you any more," Rayleigh chuckled. "I've got some things to take care of, but tonight, come by the bar near Red Tree No. 13. Let's have that drink we talked about."
The bar near Red Tree No. 13 was owned by a woman named Shakky, who lived with Rayleigh.
Takumi knew about it.
Shakky looked young, but in reality, she was nearly 60 years old and had a knack for swindling people. Her bar was infamous for being called the 'Extortion Bar.'
Anyone who went there for a drink usually ended up getting fleeced.
Rayleigh had really picked a good spot.
This was a classic case of keeping things within the family…
After a moment of silence, Takumi nodded. "Alright, I'll settle that debt tonight."
Rayleigh looked surprised, then laughed, "Haha, you've really been keeping that in mind all this time, haven't you? Fine, let's do it! Drinks are on you tonight. I'll see you later."
With that, Rayleigh waved to Takumi, then vanished, heading toward the nearest town.
Takumi glanced at the bulging pouch hanging from Rayleigh's waist. It wasn't hard to guess where he was going—probably to gamble again…
Oh well, that's his business…
Takumi didn't give it much thought and casually glanced around before picking a direction and continuing his walk.
When he entered the town near Red Tree No. 5, he passed by a small shop selling Sabaody specialties.
The shopkeeper, smiling, waved him over. "Young man, would you like to try some Sabaody specialties? We've got Great Buns, Great Biscuits, and Great Chocolate. You can sample them first!"
As he spoke, the shopkeeper gestured to several large platters filled with different snacks.
Takumi glanced at him but didn't say anything.
Just then, a figure rushed past Takumi, eagerly stopping in front of the trays. "Hey, are these samples all free?"
