In the residence of the twins
Upon learning that Bibi Dong had left Spirit City for the Slaughter Capital, Qian Renjue lost interest in hosting 'Growing closer to Bibi Dong' celebration.
He wasn't sure when he would see Bibi Dong again. She might become even more twisted, but he hoped the situation would improve compared to the past.
Qian Daoliu didn't stay long. After delivering the news to the siblings, he returned to the Worship Hall to accompany the Angel God statue.
After breakfast, Qian Renxue took Qian Renjue back to their room.
Qian Renjue leaned on the sofa, watching as Qian Renxue walked over with a book in hand.
"Sister, aren't you supposed to be training?" he asked curiously.
"There's no rush," Qian Renxue gently shook her head.
She sat down beside Qian Renjue, wrapped an arm around his shoulder, and smiled
"It's not good to sleep right after breakfast. How about I keep you company while we read for a bit?"
"Sure, sure!" Qian Renjue clapped his hands happily and snuggled closer to her.
Qian Renxue smiled, holding him a little tighter as she opened the book in her hands.
The siblings nestled together. The room was quiet, save for the sound of turning pages and their soft breathing. A refreshing morning breeze blew through the window, their golden hair intertwining and brushing against Qian Renjue's delicate nose, making him feel a bit itchy.
"Achoo!"
"Pfft—" Qian Renxue laughed and brushed away the strands of hair that had fallen on Qian Renjue's face.
"Sister, don't make fun of me!" Qian Renjue protested, rubbing his head against Qian Renxue with a pout.
"Haha, I'm not making fun of you," Qian Renxue said softly, gently stroking his soft, chubby cheeks. Her purple eyes were full of warmth, which quickly turned into worry.
"Sister, what's wrong?" Qian Renjue asked, noticing her sudden concern.
Qian Renxue lightly pinched his cheek, her thoughts returning to the anxiety she felt that morning when she woke up.
The sensation was unbearable, and she couldn't help but softly plead, "Jue, please don't make sister worry again, okay?"
"Sister…" Qian Renjue looked up at her, meeting her gentle gaze, and nodded earnestly. "I won't do that again!"
"Good boy!" Qian Renxue leaned in and kissed his cheek.
"Hehe!" Qian Renjue giggled, feeling a tickle, and slightly shrank his neck.
Knock, knock!
At that moment, there was a knock on the bedroom door, which hadn't been closed.
"Dad!" Qian Renjue looked up and exclaimed in surprise.
Standing at the door was Qian Xunji, who had changed into casual clothes after seeing off Bibi Dong.
"Dad," Qian Renxue greeted him as well.
"My Xiao Xue and Xiao Jue, what are you two doing?" Qian Xunji asked with a warm smile as he slowly walked into the room.
"Jue and sister are reading," Qian Renjue responded cheerfully, then looked at Qian Xunji with curiosity. "But what about you, Dad? Why are you here?"
"Isn't it normal for father to come and see his children?" Qian Xunji replied, picking up the two children and sitting down with them in his lap.
"But it's working time…" Qian Renjue leaned against Qian Xunji's shoulder, gently rubbing against him.
His son's affection made Qian Xunji's heart swell with joy.
"Haha, even Dad can be lazy once in a while," Qian Xunji chuckled.
"Won't Grandpa scold you?" Qian Renjue asked curiously.
"Of course not. Dad is not a child anymore," Qian Xunji replied with amusement.
"Really? But in Grandpa's eyes, you'll always be his child."
Qian Renjue's innocent words caused both Qian Xunji and Qian Renxue to pause for a moment.
Qian Xunji even felt a slight warmth in his eyes. Forcing a smile, he gently pinched Qian Renjue's cheek and nodded, "Yes, Xiao Jue, you're absolutely right. Dad is still a child."
"Of course!" Qian Renjue grinned, nodding confidently.
Qian Xunji felt a surge of warmth in his heart. His son's words and actions always moved him unexpectedly.
Qian Renxue, though accustomed to this, still found herself looking at her angelic little brother with admiration.
Qian Xunji gently brushed Qian Renjue's nose and ruffled Qian Renxue's hair before getting to the point.
"Xiao Xue, Xiao Jue, your mom has gone to become stronger. From now on, you need to behave."
"Yes, Grandpa already told us," Qian Renjue nodded, holding Qian Renxue's hand. "Sister and I will be a good kid."
"Yes," Qian Renxue smiled, nodding back at him.
"Haha, that's good," Qian Xunji laughed and nodded slightly before looking down at Qian Renxue. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was a barrier between them, a sense of distance.
Suppressing his disappointment, Qian Xunji gently rubbed Qian Renjue's head and advised, "Xiao Jue, remember, always make sure you can protect yourself before doing what you want to do."
Qian Xunji's words carried a deeper meaning, and Qian Renjue instantly thought of what had happened the previous night. Frowning seriously, he said, "Dad, Mom would never hurt me!"
Then, softening his tone, he added, "A lot of times, Mom doesn't mean to hurt me…"
"Xiao Jue, Dad knows," Qian Xunji said gently, comforting him. Smiling, he added, "Dad isn't just talking about that."
Qian Renjue looked up at him, confused.
Seeing his puzzled expression, Qian Xunji solemnly advised, "Dad is talking about everything in the future. You carry the responsibility of continuing the Qian family lineage. So even when you become a soul master, you must be extra careful."
"Uh…?" Hearing Qian Xunji's words, Qian Renjue was at a loss, raising his little eyebrows in confusion.
With his current understanding, he only had a vague idea of what that meant, and his small face turned slightly red.
"Dad, why are you talking to him about that?" Qian Renxue, noticing Qian Renjue's flushed face, scolded Qian Xunji and gently ruffled Qian Renjue's hair.
"Haha, our little boy will grow up eventually," Qian Xunji laughed. He couldn't help but find his son even more adorable when he blushed, and he pinched Qian Renxue's cheek, teasing, "Xiao Xue, you'll get married one day too."
"Dad, stop talking about that," Qian Renxue frowned, turning away from Qian Xunji's hand and holding Qian Renjue's hand with warmth and determination.
That sort of thing, she didn't need it. In this life, she only needed the sword in her hand and Jue. She would also protect the Qian family and guard the Spirit Hall!
