After Sasuke's curious incident with the woodcarving, he started digging into Naruto's background and found out about the demon fox sealed inside him. Since many adults in the village already knew this, it didn't take long for Sasuke to uncover the truth.
This led Sasuke to suspect that Naruto might be hiding his true strength. And if that's the case, it means Naruto has been doing this since he was a kid. Sasuke was pretty shocked by this because, as a child, Sasuke was talented, but he didn't have the kind of cleverness Naruto seemed to have. It made him think, "Man, if only I had that level of plotting skills back then."
Thinking about Naruto's constant smile, Sasuke suddenly felt like it was all a bit fake, masking some deeper sadness. Naruto, keeping everything hidden, enduring all the pressure, and dealing with the cold looks from others, made Sasuke shake his head. He felt a new level of disappointment in Konoha. First, his family was destroyed, and now seeing how Naruto was treated—it made the village look even worse to him.
Taking a deep breath, Sasuke decided he'd find a way to see Naruto's real strength, secretly hoping that Naruto wasn't just all talk.
Meanwhile, Naruto noticed something interesting. Every time he interacted with someone in class, a little "experience" notification would pop up in his mind. The experience points seemed to increase every time he talked to people, which got him thinking. "How do these points even work? And why do they show up when I talk to people?"
He couldn't figure it out yet, but hey, points are points, right? Gotta collect them all.
Suddenly, the sound of fast footsteps echoed in the classroom as their teacher, Iruka, rushed in. "Listen up, class! I just got orders from the Third Hokage. Today, we're having the Genin exams!"
"Wait, what? Today? Isn't it too early?" Inuzuka Kiba frowned.
"Yeah, we usually have a few more days before the exam," Nara Shikamaru added, looking as lazy as ever.
"Who cares? The sooner, the better! We can become ninjas sooner!" Ino said, all fired up.
Everyone agreed, but Naruto was lost in thought. The early exam messed up his plans—he was hoping to earn more experience points first.
"Ah, whatever," Naruto thought. "Might as well see how strong I really am now."
But then something weird happened. When Iruka mentioned the exam, the experience orbs around the students suddenly started growing. Naruto noticed Hinata's orb, which was the size of a ping-pong ball, get a little bigger. "Is this related to the exam?" Naruto wondered. "Maybe these orbs refill during key moments, like in a story!"
Realizing this, Naruto decided to hide his full strength during the exam. He didn't want to mess up the "plot" by doing too well. Besides, it's more fun to keep people guessing!
Soon, it was his turn. He walked into the next room, where Iruka and Mizuki were waiting as examiners.
"Alright, Naruto, let's see your Clone Jutsu," Iruka said, trying to sound encouraging. He knew Naruto struggled with this jutsu, so he was already planning to go easy on him.
Naruto nodded, but before he started, he noticed something odd. Even Mizuki, the sneaky villain, had a small experience orb floating around him. "Hmm, interesting," Naruto thought. "I wonder what happens when I absorb this guy's orb. Maybe something will change in the story."
Naruto then prepared to perform the Clone Jutsu. But instead of showing off his real skills, he tried to downplay it. He wanted to create just one lousy clone, like in the original story.
But no matter how much he suppressed his chakra, he still ended up with two perfect clones standing beside him.
Iruka was surprised. "Naruto, you actually created two clones! Not bad!"
But Naruto, not wanting to pass the exam just yet, had a plan. He subtly made his clones collapse onto the floor, pretending they were failed attempts.
"Uh... what just happened?" Iruka and Mizuki stared in disbelief. The clones were perfect a second ago, and now they looked like they'd just fainted. "Did they trip or something?"
Mizuki tried to help out. "Well, Naruto did create the clones. Maybe we should let him pass?"
Iruka hesitated. He wanted to help Naruto, but the rules were the rules. "Sorry, Naruto. The clones aren't holding up, so you can't pass."
As soon as Iruka said that, Naruto felt relief. "Phew, I failed!" But outwardly, he put on his best angry face to keep up appearances.
Experience points might be cool, but keeping things interesting? Now that's the real challenge!
