Natalie mouthed, "Is that Mr. Sebastian?" her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Charlotte nodded, her gaze fixed on the phone screen.

Natalie stood, exhaling dramatically. "I need to pee. Have fun conversing." She threw Charlotte a wink and a faint smile before exiting the room.

Charlotte waited until the door clicked shut before answering, her voice brisk. "Hello."

In her mind, she prayed Sebastian would reveal his earlier words as a joke.

"Uhm, you forgot your handkerchief in the car. I just saw it now," Sebastian said, his voice casual.

Charlotte's response was automatic. "Oh! I did? Sorry, I will—"

Sebastian cut her off. "Don't worry. I'll bring it to you, just—"

But Charlotte's words tumbled out in a panic. "No!" The force of her own yell startled her.

"Huh?" Sebastian's confusion echoed through the line.

"I'll come get it myself," Charlotte repeated, her tone unwavering.
