Chương 6: Chapter 6 Task
Su Nanzhi's destination was very clear. She crossed the street and gradually entered a less populated street.
The street was somewhat old, but it belonged to the old city district, the kind that would soon be renovated.
Beijing was obviously a place not lacking in wealthy people, and once this area was demolished, the number of wealthy people would increase.
A black stray cat on the side of the road had golden-yellow pupils that watched Su Nanzhi vigilantly as she intruded onto its territory.
Cats have varying attitudes towards bipeds. The one in front of Su Nanzhi watched her warily for a while before walking away with a couple of meows.
Su Nanzhi had a good sense for cats. Her neighbor owned a chubby British Shorthair that, aside from eating at many homes, loved everyone it met. Su Nanzhi didn't even know which number she was on its list of backup litter scoopers it had clung to.
She took a small packet of freeze-dried meat from her suitcase, tore it open, and poured it on the roadside, considering it a payment for passage.
After doing this, Su Nanzhi continued forward, not worried in the slightest about getting lost although it was her first time here.
After walking for a while, there were faint sounds behind her. Su Nanzhi turned to see the black cat blending into the dark alley.
Seeing that she had spotted it, the black cat simply walked out openly, raising its paw to lick its fur, then proceeded with an elegant stride to the front of Su Nanzhi.
Su Nanzhi raised an eyebrow—so the service included both accepting the road fee and offering directions. Not bad.
She followed the cat around a few twists and turns and eventually arrived in front of a bar.
The bar was quite distinctive, with various neon lights at the entrance. The LED sign was dimmed, but the most unique feature was the Bagua symbol on the door.
Su Nanzhi waved at the cat, and it walked away elegantly.
An absolute silver-for-goods exchange.
Su Nanzhi pushed the door open and walked in.
Truth be told, such a bar was quite sinister when it wasn't yet bustling with noise in the evening.
When Su Nanzhi entered, there was a middle-aged man with a full beard sitting inside, well-dressed in a suit, yet his exhaustion was evident in his eyes.
"Are you here to discuss the acquisition?" The man turned his head at the sound of footsteps.
Instead, he saw a young man with a baby face and short hair.
"What do you do?" he asked.
"May I ask if you are Mr. Yang Qirui?" Su Nanzhi inquired.
Upon her speaking, the man realized that this was a young lady.
"That's me. What can I do for you?"
"You previously invited my master, Master Yun Chu, to perform an exorcism. He has gone traveling, and I am here to replace him."
"You?" The middle-aged man seemed to hear something unbelievable, "No offense, young lady, but you look so young. You should be studying, not learning these tricks of pretending to be possessed."
When he had followed his friend's advice to invite Master Yun Chu, it was a desperate move born out of urgency since his bar had some troubles. He didn't believe in ghosts and spirits. The previous arrangement with the Master had fizzled out, and now he planned to transfer ownership of the bar, but it seemed someone had let the previous incident slip, and everyone was trying to drive the price down daily.
He knew he must have been targeted, a lamb waiting for the slaughter, yet he was helpless.
Su Nanzhi swiftly opened her suitcase and pulled out a Peach Wood Sword.
"Mr. Yang, this is the last order my master took before he went traveling. You've already paid the deposit, and in all fairness, I must complete this task."
