Chương 2: Chapter Two: A New School

 August 6th, 1956

 Los Angles, Ca

Today I would mark my first day of school in Los Angles. I wasn't excited nor anxious—just indifferent. I woke up to mother yelling, "Victoria Evelyn Payne! Wake up right now! You'll be late on your first day of school!" ...What an annoyance. Anyways, I'll write more about school when i get home. I do hope its not too bad and the people aren't too annoying.

 ....

School wasn't as crummy as I had assumed. Class started off today with our teacher, Mr. Harrison, asking me to introduce myself. Frankly, I didn't want to, but I did either way. I said something simple like, "Hello, my name is Victoria Payne. I'm here from Manhattan. Lets be good friends." Just to get it over with...Then the damn boys in my class began to laugh! One even had the audacity to say, "Wow! You sound like a real yankee!" These were the boys mother so desperately wanted me to fancy and consider future marriage candidates? No way in hell! Such mooks. Thankfully, Mr. Harrison scolded them with a, "Boys! This is not how we speak to young ladies. Enough." Thank god they shut up.

Moving on from those...things, I met a nice girl today. She's my seatmate and her name is "Priscilla." She's very...enthusiastic, to put it nicely, but she's a sweet girl. Our first interaction went something like this: "Oh em gee! You're my new seatmate!? You're like a total babe! Lets be good friends...no wait, best friends!!!" I was quite taken aback and probably just started at her like she was a loon. She gave me a nervous chuckle, "Ahaha...too much? Sorry! My name is Priscilla Moore...oh! But please don't call mention my last name! Its like a total drag!" I felt slightly amused and let out a small chuckle. She was certainly a character. "I'm Victoria Payne. Nice to meet you." I remember her smile being very bright...what was so exciting? "You're from New York, right!? Oh! Tell me about it, pleaseeeeeee! Thats like totally bitchin'!" Before I could respond, Mr. Harrison interrupted, "Priscilla Moore...calm down! And, please, stop using that "valley girl" slang...or whatever you kids call it. Such awful jive! Pay attention to the lesson." She looked sheepish and responded to him shyly with a "Sorry, Mr. Harrison..." It was pretty funny. I agreed to tell Priscilla about New York during lunch.

It's pretty late now. I should get ready for school again tomorrow. I actually had fun today...and made a new friend...but, Dolly's still number one, even if she bites at times.
