Cora turned to Jared. "You're up. You'll know him when you find him."

Jared looked unsure but turned trying to follow his instincts like Antione had told him to. Antione had said that Jared would be drawn instinctively to violence and bad intentions. Those committing acts of cruelty were the best victims because no one cared if they died.

Genetically vampires had begun to be attracted to them instinctively. Jared asked if that was true for day walkers too. Cora told him that was always the preferred food source for their kind.

Five minutes later Jared stopped beside an alley where a man had just shot two young women to death. Jared glanced at Cora, and she nodded reminding him to make sure the man's heart stopped.
